Bloody Disgusting has reported that Rooney Mara (The Winning Season, Dare, Youth in Revolt) is in final negotiations to star as “Nancy Thompson” in the highly anticipated remake of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street.’

The role was originally made famous by Heather Langenkamp in back in 1984.

Already cast in the Platinum Dunes film are Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) as Freddy Krueger, Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) as Jesse and Kyle Gallner as Quentin.

Samuel Bayer is helming the remake, which is currently slated to hit in theaters on April 16, 2010.
