Some news in regards to Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables has surfaced. According to the official blog of the film, it appears that a few rewrites have occurred and that Brittany Murphy’s character has been written out of the film. The good news is that we may soon see some behind-the-scenes footage from the film. An excerpt from blog post reads:
“The script went through a re-write and Brittany Murphy’s character was deleted. there’s no teaser trailer yet but we do have 60 seconds of BTS footage I was hoping to post but there is some debate as to whether that helps or hurts the marketing and publicity plan by peaking interest too early. I don’t understand that thought process – I see it differently…but I don’t call the shots. So we shall see or rather you shall see, hopefully.”
The Expendables was written by Stallone, who is also set to direct the project. which focuses on a group of mercenaries heading to South America to overthrow a ruthless dictator.
The star-studded cast includes Randy Couture, Danny Trejo, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger (in a cameo as himself), and Eric Roberts. The Expendables is currently shooting principal photography, with a release date set tentatively for 2010.
