Marvel Studios has announced that Natalie Portman is now set to star in ‘Thor’, where she will play Jane Foster, the mortal nurse who falls for Thor. Natalie Portman will star opposite Chris Hemsworth who will play Thor and Tom Hiddleston who will play the villain Loki.
Kenneth Branagh will direct the film which is set to start filming early next year and is slated for a May 20, 2011 release.
In the release, Marvel Studios revealed a short plot synopsis for the film:
“This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.”

I never really got into Thor as a kid but the same could be said for me and the Beatles. Who knows it may turn out to be my favorite superhero flick of all time. Only time will tell. Portman is certainly capable of just about any role, so it will be cool to see how this turns out. That being said…
