Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry says singer Steven Tyler has quit the legendary band that he has fronted for decades. Perry’s comment follows days of speculation over the future of the band after fellow guitarist Brad Whitford admitted relations were strained within the group.
“Steven quit as far as I can tell, I don’t know anymore than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.” Perry told the Las Vegas Sun. “He’s obviously had this planned for a long time, To disregard his brothers to the point where we have to find out about it on the Internet – it’s like, ‘See you later, Bud’.” the guitarist said.
Aerosmith’s future has been the subject of many rumors every since the band were forced to cancel their US tour in August when Tyler broke his shoulder after a fall from the stage. The band last performed with Tyler at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 1, 2009.
