Steven Seagal Lawman: Big Screen Icon Shines In New Reality Series

lawman_steven_seagalSteven Seagal is most well known for his highly successful action films and his expertise in the martial art of aikido. Seagal is also a director/producer, highly talented musician, staunch environmentalist, and noted philanthropist. While each one of those aspects of his life are amazing and deserving of the highest praise, Seagal has secretly carried out a higher calling that is much more noteworthy and dangerous than anything else he has done in his long career. For the past twenty years Seagal has worked under the radar as a deputy in the Sheriff’s Office of Jefferson County, Louisiana. You heard me right, he has regularly gone out to actively pursue criminals on the streets and A&E is about to put you in the passenger seat with him while on patrol.

Steven Seagal Lawman follows Seagal and his team of highly competent deputies as they patrol the streets and respond to crimes-in-progress. Seagal is often seen using his extensive background in martial arts to take down criminals and to spot suspicious behavior amongst people on the streets. He is quickly recognized by criminals and bystanders alike, of course there are differing reactions between the two parties. Bystanders often ask for autographs or to shake his hand, while most criminals become quickly compliant once they recognize the hulking action star. A&E is not reinventing the wheel when it comes to how the show is shot, but they do take it a step further than most police shows on television today. Along with the action on the street, we also get a look into the personal life of Seagal. While he is off duty, the cameras continue to follow Seagal as he teaches his fellow officers techniques for protecting themselves and we also get glimpses at his musical and philanthropic ventures. If you are expecting the over-the-top character he has played in most of his films, you are out of luck. Seagal proves to be an excellent police officer and comes off as an all around good person in the television series.

Whether you are a fan of Seagal’s or not, you have to admire his drive to make a difference on the streets of Louisiana. It takes a special person to perform the duties of a police officer and Seagal clearly has the goods to be one of the best. The show is highly recommended and is easily a five out of five. Steven Seagal Lawman premieres Wednesday, December 2nd at 10 Eastern on A&E.
