The cast MTV’s hit reality series “Jersey Shore” have renewed their deals and are returning for a second season, the network announced late Friday night.
Negotiations had been going on for weeks and sources say the cast demanded to have its $5,000 per episode salary doubled to $10,000. It was unclear what the final numbers were, but the cabler — minus a major hit with “The Hills” losing traction in the last year — felt it needed to make a deal in order to keep its momentum intact.
Season two will begin in summer with a 12-episode order. Following the success of season one, Pauly D, Mike, Snooki, Jenni, Sammi, Ronnie and Vinny will escape the cold Northeast and find themselves in a new destination.
“Jersey Shore” is January’s #1 original cable series among 12-34 year-olds. The season-one finale broke series records, delivering a 4.8 rating and ranking #1 for the day across all television competition in the demo.
Fans can catch up on the complete first season as MTV airs the “Jersey Bowl” marathon leading up to the Super Bowl kick-off on Sunday, February 7th beginning at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT.
“Jersey Shore The Complete Season One UNCENSORED” DVD, including deleted scenes, the reunion special and more, is available for pre-order on Amazon.com.

It was a fun show but I think a second season maybe a little much. I hope Snooki can take some more punches in the second round.
