Christina Milian is an undeniable force in the entertainment industry. She is a multi-talented phenomenon whose resume includes film, television, theater and music. She is also an entrepreneur with eyes focused on the future and fingers on the heartbeat of pop culture. One of her biggest successes is her shared in ownership of the Viva Diva Wine brand. Sharing the responsibilities of ownership with two other strong female owners, her Mother and manger, Carmen Milian and publicist, Robyn Santiago,the brand continues to grow exponentially. With a passion for success and a vision to add creative new products, Christina, Carmen and Robyn plan to make moves nationally to set their brand aside from any other on the market.
Business ownership hasn’t put the breaks on Christina’s creative career. She is is currently signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money/Cash Money/Universal label and is hard at work bringing her fourth studio album to life. Christina will also be giving the public a look into her life alongside her family on a new docu-series called “Christina Milian Turned Up,” which premieres this January on the E! Channel. Jason Price of Icon Vs. Icon caught up with Christina for a look inside the many projects she is involved in and what she has in store for us in the year to come.

You have been a very busy woman over the past few years with another huge year ahead of you. Who were some the the influences or mentors in your life that have made an undeniable impact on the woman we see today?
I would definitely say my Mom has had a great impact on my life. She has helped shape my sisters and me into who we are.
One of you most exciting new ventures has been Viva Diva Wines. How did the line come about?
I was at an event and met Robyn Santiago and she thought that I would be a great fit for the brand. Fast forward to a year later and my Mom, Robyn and I purchased the brand from its previous owner. I love the taste of Viva Diva, what it stands for and the direction we are taking this brand in.
They say you can take a little something away from each project. What have you learned from you time developing and bringing this line off wine to the market?
Persistence! In a market that is so competitive, much like all markets your brand has to stand out from the rest in order to make a statement. We have found the ways to really make a statement with Viva Diva and we have great plans for future plans in the brand!
What sets Viva Diva wines apart from other brands?
Price point, taste, quality, flavors. There are many Moscato brands on the market, Viva Diva taste is perfect. It’s not too sweet, the flavor is incredible and reminds you of that particular fruit when you are enjoying it. The price point ranges between $7.99-$10.99.
As an owner and face of the wine, you have been able to travel the country while promoting this product. What have been some of the highlights for you personally?
Honestly, I love meeting all the fans and hearing their stories! A lot of them have followed my career and these signings have given us an opportunity to meet.
What might we expect to see from Viva Diva in 2015? Is there anything your are looking forward to from the brand as it continues to grow?
We would love to implement a red wine and we have a couple exciting ideas for the brand but want to leave them as a surprise!
You have a new docu-series headed our way in the New Year on the E! Network called “Christina Milian Turned Up.” What can fans expect from the show?
Everything! Fun, business, family, laughter, crying, we covered it all! It was a lot of fun to film. It airs on E! channel January 18th! Make sure you are all watching!
Did you ever have any reservations about putting yourself out there in this format for the world to see?
Yes and no! I feel like my life has been in the public eye since I was a kid but at the same time, there are things in my life that I would like to keep private so it’s difficult to balance. I am happy I did it though! The show highlighted not only what I have going on but my sisters, my Mom and Lauren as well.
What has been the biggest challenge in bringing this series to life?
The biggest challenge has been what to include and what to keep private.
You serve as an amazing role model for so many young people. What is the best piece of advice you can pass along to aspiring actors or entrepreneurs?
Follow your dreams! Whatever you think or want, you can have or become. Don’t say no to things, explore them to see if they are suited for your life and don’t let someone who doesn’t see your vision deter you.
What other projects should we be on the lookout from you in the year to come?
I just launched WeArePopCulture.com, I have Shelby Star which is an animation my Mom and I created, Platinum E Hookahs. My album release is set for 2015. I am doing my first video soon for “Rebel” and my single drops soon too! Its going to be a really exciting finish to 2014 and an incredible 2015! Im excited!
Are you involved with any charity work that we can help shine a light on?
I just worked with La’s Best last month for a charity event. Their mission is to provide safe and surpervised after school education, enrichment and recreation programs for elementary school kids 5-12 years old in the city of Los Angeles. My sister Danille, my Mom and our partner in Viva Diva Wines was there and I was the guest speaker too! It was a great event that my family and I feel passionate about!
As we approach the holiday season, what are you most thankful for?
I am most thankful for my daughter Violet, my family, my friends and all the positive and blessings that are surrounding our lives! There is so much to be thankful for!
