UFC Champion B.J. Penn Streaming Live Tsunami Coverage

UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn is currently broadcasting live footage for his parents home in Hawaii’s Hilo Bay. Hawaii is currently bracing itself for an incoming Tsunami with potentially devastating waves.

Check out the stream below or at B.J. Penn’s official website located www.bjpenn.com.

Live Broadcast by Ustream.TV

B.J. Penn is an avid blogger and has a book coming out soon that fans of MMA might be interested in checking out.

‘Why I Fight’ Synopsis: From its humble beginnings twenty years ago, mixed martial arts has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry. Chief among the world′s leading mixed martial arts organizations is the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) which is making its way to the top of the sports food chain, dwarfing boxing and nipping at the heels of the NFL. And fighter-turned-author B.J. “The Prodigy” Penn has been one of the few chosen to lead the greatest fighting generation.

In WHY I FIGHT, the controversial Penn will, for the first time, bring MMA fans into his remote and insular world on the Big Island of Hawaii, where he lives and trains and give them an in-depth look into the complex mind of a man beloved by all peace-loving Hawaiians–who devastatingly imposes his physical will on opponents and then brazenly licks their blood off his gloves.

Penn will recap his journey from his days as a 17-year-old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu prodigy, street fighter, and reckless party boy in Hilo, through his current status as a celebrity and world class competitor. Along the way he will discuss his controversial views on the UFC, his crazy yet heavily influential family life and how he came to embrace the Hawaiian Warrior spirit, and he will do so with the passion, wry sense of humor, and candor, that has made him one of the most loved, feared, and provocative athletes in the world.

MMA Superstar Randy Couture & Don’t Quit® Music Create Rock/R&B iTunes Workout Playlist

Randy Couture, one of the athletes credited with bringing mixed martial arts into the mainstream of American pop culture and sports, has teamed with Don’t Quit Music–the world’s first digital music and fitness record label–to create a special downloadable music playlist for high-energy workouts called Don’t Quit Music Presents: Randy Couture Mix, Volume 1. The Playlist will be available on February 23, 2010 in the iTunes Store (itunes.apple.com/us/artist/dont-quit-music) and soon thereafter at dontquitmusic.com, coinciding with the site’s relaunch.

Following the launch of Couture’s role as the spokesperson for the Body By Jake® Tower 200(TM) exercise system, Body By Jake Founder Jake Steinfeld asked him to develop a playlist for Don’t Quit Music.

Said Steinfeld: “I’m psyched that Randy wanted to do this. His mix is a perfect example of what Don’t Quit Music is all about. This mix is going to keep you motivated and make you feel great! If you are an MMA fan or looking to fire up your workout Don’t Quit Music is just what this DOCTA ordered!”

Don’t Quit Music takes the work out of creating your own workout music playlist by giving leading fitness experts access to a phenomenal vault of hit songs and having them do it for you. Launched on January 1, 2009, Don’t Quit Music has been greeted with extraordinary success. A promotion with My Coke Rewards exhausted the projected six-month allotment of downloads in only two months. More than 100,000 tracks have been downloaded to date.

Featuring 15 of the Mixed Martial Arts Hall of Famer’s own favorite workout songs, Randy Couture Mix, Volume 1 is filled with fun, fist-pumpin’, classic rock and dance party R&B hits, from Wang Chung’s “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” and Robert Palmer’s “Addicted To Love” to Kool & The Gang’s “Celebration,” Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)” and Smash Mouth’s “All Star.”

“Music gets my adrenaline going when I’m working out,” says Couture, considered the most popular fighter in MMA history, “and I wanted to help others by making available a playlist like one I would listen to. Don’t Quit Music is a great idea and I’m really happy to contribute to its goal of making it easier for people to get in shape and stay in shape.” A three-time NCAA wrestling All-American, Couture is the only five-time titleholder in Ultimate Fighting Championship history.

‘The A-Team’ To Get A Prequel In Comic Book Form!

‘The A-Team’ To Get A Prequel In Comic Book Form!

In anticipation of the summer movie event The A-Team, starting in March, IDW Publishing, in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising (Fox Licensing), will launch two A-Team comic book series, entitled A-Team: Shotgun Wedding and A-Team: War Stories. The original stories penned and inked by some of the industry’s biggest names, will give fans an in-depth look at the upcoming action-adventure from Twentieth Century Fox – The A-Team - which will hit theatres June 11, 2010. Each series will be available as single issues in March and April, and collected into individual graphic novels in May.

“Like many, I was a huge fan of the original A-Team television series in the 80’s,” said A-Team comic editor and co-writer Tom Waltz. “I’m happy to report, after reading the new movie script, the updated A-Team movie has all the wit, swagger and kick-ass action of the original series, but tells a story much bigger than was possible on the show. For our comics, we’ve worked directly with the filmmakers to build a solidly action-packed foundation for a new generation of A-Team fans.”

“This comic project is the ideal collaboration between the studio, the production, the filmmakers and the publisher maximizing everyone’s talents for the best product. IDW has demonstrated their ability to bring on some of the best writers and artists in the comic book industry and work closely and effectively with all the constituents. The A-Team has a huge following and these comics, much like the upcoming film, contemporize this enormously popular action-adventure franchise and deliver fresh, compelling stories and art to the fans,” said Virginia King, Vice President U.S. Sales for Fox Licensing & Merchandising.

Taking inspiration from the eagerly anticipated feature film – The A-Team – the comic book series provides the back story for the characters in the film and documents several of the team’s first missions. War Stories features four stand-alone, bi-weekly issues that each focus on a different member of the team, offering details of their Desert Storm adventures as Army Rangers before each joins The A-Team. Each series will also be collected into individual graphic novels, available in stores in May.

Co-written by comics great Chuck Dixon (G.I. JOE) and Erik Burnham (Nanovor: Game Day), the series kicks off with Hannibal and B.A. in March, followed by Face and Murdock in April. Each team member’s story will feature a different artist in order to best bring out every character’s individual personality. Hugo Petrus (Marvel Illustrated) will provide interior art for Hannibal, and Casey Maloney (G.I. JOE: Rise of Cobra) tackles B.A. in March. In April, Alberto Muriel (Legion: Prophets) revives Face, followed by Guiu Vilanova (After the Fire), who delivers Murdock. Fan-favorite artist Michael Gaydos (Alias) will provide covers for every issue.

“I was a devoted A-Team fan from the first episode and love all of these characters. Pure action and excitement,” said Chuck Dixon. “I jumped at the chance to join Erik and work on this property and it’s been better than expected. The dialogue and characterizations came so naturally to me, it was scary.”

Also starting in March, A-Team: Shotgun Wedding, a bi-weekly four issue series, gives fans a taste of the team’s missions after they’ve officially formed The A-Team. This original adventure, co-plotted by the movie’s director, Joe Carnahan, and Waltz (who also handles the scripting) follows the team from frigid Alaska to sunny San Diego and onto a wedding cruise that becomes utter chaos. Artist Stephen Mooney (Angel: After the Fall) adds heat to every explosion, while John K. Snyder III offers eye-catching covers.

Couture, Ortiz, Penn Among Six In Second Round 5 UFC Series

With its first series of collectible UFC-branded figurines due to hit shelves throughout North America by next month, Round 5 today unveiled the members of its UFC Series 2, as announced by Barron Lau, Round 5 CEO and co-founder and Damon Lau, president and co-founder. Figurines for UFC stars Randy “The Natural” Couture, Tito “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Ortiz, B.J. “The Prodigy” Penn, Forrest Griffin, Michael “The Count” Bisping and Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson are scheduled to be available at retail in the second quarter of 2010.

As with UFC Series 1, the six Series 2 collectibles will be presented in a UFC-themed packaging that includes action photos of each respective fighter’s memorable moments as well as a short biography.

Round 5 collectible figures may be purchased at leading North American retailers; a list can be found at www.Round5MMA.com.

“We wanted to follow up our initial UFC Series with another set of names that spread across the spectrum of the sport,” said Damon Lau. “We’re excited to include some of the most popular fighters ever in guys like Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz and B.J. Penn, as well as Kimbo, who has attracted a whole new set of fans to the sport.”

“We have taken great care in selecting this important UFC Series 2,” said Barron Lau. “In addition to the standard figurines, we are planning some Limited Editions and other versions of these athletes that we think collectors will really enjoy.”

Couture is one of the sport’s most enduring and popular figures, having begun his career more than a decade ago. His imprint on the UFC is indelible, not just through his multiple Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Championships but the many fighters who he has influenced and the legions of fans who continue to follow him. He is scheduled to face another MMA pioneer, Mark Coleman, on Feb. 6 at UFC 109.

Penn has won titles at both lightweight and welterweight and has headlined some of the most-anticipated cards ever. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion is the current UFC lightweight beltholder, and has victories over some of the biggest names in the sport’s history. Hugely popular, Penn was a quick study in Jiu Jitsu, earning his black belt in just three years, and rose through the UFC ranks quickly, earning a title shot in his fourth pro fight and winning the belt in his ninth.

Known for his exciting, explosive fighting style and high-profile lifestyle, Ortiz held the UFC light heavyweight championship for more than three years, successfully defending it five times. He continues to compete, and it was recently confirmed that he will be a coach in The Ultimate Fighter 11 and will fight Chuck Liddell at the end of the season.

The MMA world was first introduced to the personality and punching power of Griffin in the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, beginning a road that led to a light heavyweight championship at UFC 86 and appearances at the top of cards. He has forged a 17-6 MMA record, and his patented “sprawl and brawl” style has led to numerous UFC “Fight of the Night” honors.

Once the “hope of British MMA,” Bisping dominated the competition on the way to The Ultimate Fighter 3 light heavyweight championship, then showed he’ll be a force in the UFC middleweight division for years to come. Sometimes controversial, often polarizing but always exciting, the brawler has an 18-2 record, solidifying his stature as a notable fighter in the States as well.

Slice burst on the fight scene in 2007, bringing the reputation he gained from millions of Internet viewings of his backyard brawls into the cage. He hit the big stage with nationally televised, prime-time broadcasts, then earned a UFC bout by competing in the latest edition of The Ultimate Fighter, winning his debut in the promotion last month.

UFC Series 1, which includes figures of Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell, George “Rush” St. Pierre, “Suga” Rashad Evans, Kenny “KenFlo” Florian, Clay “The Carpenter” Guida and Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida, will be available in stores across North America by February.
