Garbage Debut Music Video For New Single “No Horses”

Garbage Debut Music Video For New Single “No Horses”

Garbage today shared a music video for their new single “No Horses”. Directed by Pancake Mountain creator Scott Stuckey, the politically charged clip can be seen HERE. “No Horses” was released last month and is available now HERE. All of the band’s profits from sales and streaming of the single will be donated to the International Committee of the Red Cross through the end of 2018.

“It’s been my observation that when governments disregard their citizens for their own greed, the ensuing soundtrack usually kick’s ass. Like Nina Simone’s ‘Mississippi Goddam’ or the Clash’s ‘Straight To Hell’, ‘No Horses’ made me realize that I’m not going insane, these really are fucked up times. The lyrics are powerful so the challenge was to add something visually that wouldn’t ruin the individual’s interpretation,” offered director Scott Stuckey on the video’s inspiration.

Earlier this summer, Garbage released their autobiographical coffee table book, THIS IS THE NOISE THAT KEEPS ME AWAKE via Akashic Books. The book includes never before seen photographs of the band as well as pieces written by each of the four band members. THIS IS THE NOISE THAT KEEPS ME AWAKE can be purchased HERE

Garbage kicked off their co-headline “Rage & Rapture Tour” with Blondie on July 5th in Saratoga, CA and will be touring the U.S. for the duration of the summer. Both bands along with an opening slot from Sky Ferreira played to a crowd of 17,000 fans last month, selling out LA’s Hollywood Bowl. Support for additional Rage & Rapture tour dates will be provided by John Doe & Exene Cervenka followed by Deap Vally. Blondie – Photo by Alexander Thompson

For the last four decades, Blondie has become and still remains a true national treasure; one whose influence both shaped and continues to inform the worlds of music, fashion and art. From an irreverent Lower East Side punk outfit to bona fide international ambassadors of New York cool, Blondie will forever be synonymous with that punk spirit that lives somewhere in all of us. Comprised of singer-songwriter Debbie Harry, guitarist and co-writer Chris Stein, powerhouse drummer Clem Burke, and long-time band members bassist Leigh Foxx, guitarist Tommy Kessler and keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen, Blondie’s chart-topping success, fearless spirit and rare longevity led to an induction into the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, a NME Godlike Genius Awardin 2014, a Q Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 2016, and more than 40 million albums sold worldwide to date.  Debbie’s persona and the band’s boundary-pushing pop have shaped the look and sound of many chart-topping female artists who followed in the last three decades.  And their newest album, Pollinator(out May 5th via BMG), delves even deeper into this idea: inspiration from Blondie’s action-packed, cross-pollinating past shaping the sound of our collective future. PRESS HERE to listen to “Fun”, the first song off this release, and PRESS HERE to pre-order Pollinator, which features songwriting from Sia, Blood Orange frontman Dev Hynes, British singer Charli XCX, Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio), Nick Valensi (The Strokes), Johnny Marr (The Smiths) and more.

Garbage (Shirley Manson, Steve Marker, Duke Erikson and Butch Vig) today announced Strange Little Birds, their sixth studio album, which will be released on June 10th on the band’s own label STUNVOLUME. The band recently shared the title via Twitter, and today released the tracklisting and artwork. The album, produced by the band, is the follow up to 2012’s heralded Not Your Kind of People.

Working initially in Vig’s basement and then at Red Razor Sounds in Los Angeles, Garbage drew on a variety of sources, from their recent fan letters back to the albums they loved growing up.  “The guiding principle was keeping it fresh, and relying on instinct both lyrically and musically”, said frontwoman Shirley Manson.  Strange Little Birds is “less fussed over” than anything Garbage has ever made. “We fell in love with immediacy,” adds Vig.

Some will hear echoes of Garbage’s 1995 debut album in Strange Little Birds – including Manson herself. “To me, this record, funnily enough, has the most to do with the first record than any of the previous records,” she says. “It’s getting back to that beginner’s headspace.” “In part,” she says, that’s a result of not having anyone to answer to.”

Garbage will perform at various festivals and headlining shows across Europe this summer. See below for confirmed dates and stay tuned for additional live dates to be announced in the coming weeks.

This is a very special occasion for all of us in garbage. We are particularly excited about the upcoming tour - the intent of which is pretty much the celebration of a 20 year long affair between us and those who have loved us. - SHIRLEY MANSON

Garbage released their genre defying, groundbreaking debut on August 15, 1995 at a time when grunge music dominated the airwaves and mainstream culture. Their distinctive approach to songwriting and production – blending elements of rock, pop and electronic music – captured the attention of critics and fans all over the world. The album spawned multiple hits including: “Vow,” “Queer,” “Stupid Girl” and “Only Happy When It Rains.” It spent more than a year on both the U.S. and U.K. charts, received multi-platinum certifications around the world and was nominated for GRAMMY

® Awards including Best New Artist and Best Rock Song (“Stupid Girl”). The album went on to sell over 4 million copies worldwide.

To celebrate 20 years as a band, this October Garbage will embark on a special U.S. and European Anniversary Tour. Christened the 20 Years Queer Tour, the band will play their debut album in its entirety for the first time. A full list of dates can be found below.
