Slayer Announces Dates For Final North American Tour

Slayer, 2017 * L-R:Paul Bostaph, Kerry King, Gary Holt, Tom Araya

After making some of the most brutal, breathtakingly aggressive, all-hell’s-a-breaking-loose music ever created, being one of the four bands that defined an entire musical genre and being the band that other heavy acts are measured against and aspire to…after nearly 37 years, releasing 12 studio albums, multiple live recordings, compilations, live video and two box sets, playing nearly 3000 concerts in all corners of the world, receiving countless awards including five Grammy nominations and two Grammy awards, Gold records and other accolades…having its own exhibit in the Smithsonian Institute, gracing hundreds of magazine covers, experiencing the devastating loss of a founding brother, and even appearing on “The Tonight Show,” the age of Slayer, one of the greatest thrash/metal/punk bands of this or any age, is coming to an end.

Slayer announces that it will do one last concert tour around the globe to thank their fans for all of their support over the years, for making the last three-and-a-half decades so packed with good times and unforgettable experiences, and will then move on.

Lamb of God, Anthrax, Behemoth and Testament will support Slayer on the first leg, North America, of its final world tour.  Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday, January 26 at 10AM local time. Very limited Slayer onstage + meet & greet+ exclusive merchandise packages will be available.  Log on to www.slayer.net for this and all ticket purchasing info.

Metal Legends Slayer To Invade San Diego Comic-Con 2016!

Metal Legends Slayer To Invade San Diego Comic-Con 2016!

slayer-2016-1

SLAYER, the uncompromising super-heroes of thrash metal, is set to do a takeover of San Diego Comic-Con International (SDCC).  The occupation will begin on Thursday, July 21 with a special live performance at the intimate-capacity House of Blues.  Tickets go on sale this Friday, May 20 at 10:00AM PT.  For ticket and purchasing info, log on to www.Slayer.net.

Said Slayer’s Kerry King, “Comic-Con?!?  I can’t believe they are gonna let us shred the HOB San Diego!!  It will definitely be a night of fury and intensity that the city won’t soon forget.  We will be coming off a seven week European run, so Slayer’s guns will be blazing!”

The invasion will prove evil has no boundaries as Slayer also will execute two very exclusive signings inside the walls of San Diego Comic-Con with a brand new publishing partner, Dark Horse Comics.  These signings will take place Friday, July 22, booth #2615, and at the Nuclear Blast Records booth, #501.  This is a once in a lifetime chance for fans South of Heaven in San Diego to experience Decades of Aggression at the Altar of Comic-Con.  More details to be disclosed soon.

But this Comic-Con captivity gets even better.  Slayer recently partnered with BMX brand Subrosa for the four-bike “Cradle to Grave” collection, comprised of the Slayer Balance, Slayer 20, Slayer 26, and the Slayer Urban Terrain Bike.  All of these bikes are intended for BMX bike riders to “use and abuse,” and some of the models will be on display at the Nuclear Blast Comic-Con booth (#501).  The entire Subrosa/Slayer “Cradle to Grave” collection will be available worldwide in October.

“My brother, my friends and I used to ride bikes in the early seventies,” said Slayer’s Tom Araya.  “We built a figure-eight track with ramps in my backyard where we would race and crash into each other.  It was a precursor to BMX.  We would go around the neighborhood to collect bikes that people had thrown away to salvage them, so it’s cool to see Subrosa building a line of Slayer bikes.”

ABOUT SLAYER
For more than three decades, Slayer’s onslaught has proven the band to be the supreme thrash-metal band on the planet, the band that other heavy acts are measured against and aspire to. The two-time Grammy-winners have also accumulated an abundance of certified Gold Albums along with “Best…” awards from media outlets all over the world, including Kerrang!, SPIN, Metal Hammer, Revolver, and Esquire. Throughout Slayer’s history, the band has never faltered in unleashing its extreme and focused sonic assault, and, unlike many of its contemporaries who “commercialized” their sound, Slayer has remained crushing and brutal, steadfastly refusing to cater to the mainstream. Slayer’s founding member, guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed in 2013, and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has been filling in for him since. Paul Bostaph, who was Slayer’s drummer from ’94 – ’01, has rejoined bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King, and is back behind the kit.

In September 2015, Slayer released Repentless, the band’s 12th studio album, the first without Hanneman and first with producer Terry Date, to widespread rave reviews and the highest chart debut of the band’s career. The band also teamed up with director BJ McDonnell for two high-concept and brutal music videos for the album’s “Repentless” (8.4-million views) and then for “You Against You.” (2.6-million views).

SLAYER: Legendary Rockers Unleash “Implode” Track, Form Own Label Imprint

SLAYER: Legendary Rockers Unleash “Implode” Track, Form Own Label Imprint

Slayer-2013_lo

Last night at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Slayer surprised the capacity crowd with an unannounced performance, kicking off the show with a three-song set that included the global premiere of “Implode,” the band’s first new studio recording in five years.

Recorded earlier this month at Henson Studios in Los Angeles and produced by Terry Date and co-produced by Greg Fidelman, “Implode” is now available as a free download as a “thank you” to the band’s fans for their continued support.  Or, as Kerry King put it, “you have been waiting for us, now we are delivering for you.” Registered members of Slayer’s fan club were sent an email right around midnight giving them the link to the song and a chance to hear it before it was made public. “Implode” can now be downloaded at www.slayer.net.

Later this year, the two-time Grammy-winning Slayer will begin recording a new album, tentatively set for an early 2015 release date.  The album will make Slayer history as it will be released on Nuclear Blast Records through the band’s own label imprint, closing out a 28-year relationship with Rick Rubin and American Recordings.  No name for the imprint has been decided on yet.

“Rick has played a huge role in our career, we’ve made some great albums with him,” said Slayer’s Tom Araya.  “But today is a new day, record companies don’t play the kind of role they once did, and we really like the idea of going out on our own, connecting directly with our fans, and Nuclear Blast is fired up about taking on that challenge with us.”

All future recordings on the band’s label imprint will be released worldwide exclusively through Nuclear Blast.

“I was a teenage rebel when ‘Show No Mercy’ came out,” said Markus Staiger, owner of Nuclear Blast, “and I identified with that record.  It was the most extreme, aggressive thing at the time. They were then and still are the most brutal metal band on the planet!  I really cannot express how proud I am that we are able to work with Slayer to join the Nuclear Blast family. We are ready for that next record and, I’m sure it will go into metal history!”

Added Nuclear Blast label manager Gerardo Martinez, “The prospect of helping Slayer take a leading role in the creative process surrounding their releases, projects and other cross-promotional opportunities is the ultimate honor for me, a metalhead who grew up in Los Angeles listening to Slayer.  Nowhere in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that Nuclear Blast would be making history alongside one of the best bands in metal.”

Slayer – Tom Araya/vocals, bass, Kerry King/guitar, drummer Paul Bostaph, and Gary Holt who continues to stand in for the band’s founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman – will spend the next few months on the road touring major North American and European festivals as well as headlining dates, sharing the stages with Metallica, Iron Maiden and more (see below), but is expected to be back in the studio in the fall to record the rest of the new album.

When it comes to thrash metal, in particular Bay Area thrash, EXODUS are one of the true Godfathers. Formed in 1980 by guitarist Tim Agnello, drummer Tom Hunting, bassist Carlton Melson and some other six-stringer called Kirk Hammett, Agnello soon left, allowing Hammett’s guitar tech Gary Holt to step up and in. Hammett then stumbled across Paul Baloff, a demo was recorded, Hammett left to join some other upstarts, Rick Hunolt took the other guitar and the rest became history. Their 1984 debut Bonded By Blood is a stonewall genre classic, and with cranium crunching classics such as ‘”A Lesson In Violence”, “Strike Of The Beast” and more.

EXODUS can promise that this show will not be a calm or gentle soiree… more than an aural beatdown.

The current line-up of Gary Holt on guitar, Lee Altus on guitar, Tom Hunting, on drums Jack Gibson on bass and Rob Dukes on vocals has been in place since 2005. EXODUS’ last album was 2010’s Exhibit B: The Human Condition on Nuclear Blast Records, and the band have just started working on new material for a prospective release later in 2014.
