PAPA ROACH Announce 3 Special Shows at The Roxy In Hollywood

PAPA ROACH Announce 3 Special Shows at The Roxy In Hollywood

Papa Roach have announced a special run of five shows in their home state of California to celebrate their forthcoming 10th studio album. The band will close out this run with three very special shows at the landmark West Hollywood venue, The Roxy, presented by SiriusXM.

Jacoby Shaddix said “Its been so long since we’ve done some real intimate shows like this in California – Since 2009 in fact. We cant wait to show our California fans a bit of love they deserve. Sacto – SF – LA, they’re all in for a treat.”

Papa Roach have been praised by their peers in the rock world for achieving an “unlikely comeback”, nearly two decades into a storied career with a resurgence marked by their 2017 release, Crooked Teeth, which debuted in the Top 20 on the US, UK and Australian charts. Now just over a year later Papa Roach released two new tracks from their forthcoming 10th studio album, “Renegade Music” and “Who Do You Trust?” to both critical and fan acclaim. Loudwire explains,“[Papa Roach] are entering a new era of their career – a multitude of their former counterparts have either become nostalgia acts or fallen off the grid entirely, Papa Roach are finding ways to reverse their trajectory…The sky is the limit for a band who play their cards right and are willing to kick down a few walls.”

Papa Roach Unveil Official Music Video for “Periscope” Featuring Skylar Grey

Papa Roach Unveil Official Music Video for “Periscope” Featuring Skylar Grey

PAPA ROACH unveil their official music video for “Periscope,” the third official music video from their recently released album “Crooked Teeth” via VEVO today! The song and video features multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter Skylar Grey (Dr. Dre, Eminem, Rihanna, Zedd, Nicki Minaj). Watch the video below!

The video “Periscope” was directed by award-winning firm The Uprising Creative (Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Big Sean, Lil Jon) who cited the inspiration for the video was “to create a moody, different look for the band using a stylistic light exploration – exploring color through light, projection and dynamic performances of the performers.”

“Periscope” is inspired by the realization that sometimes within a relationship you might not be worth being loved or that the other person may not be worth your love, and the struggle within that— how much effort it takes to make things work,” says Papa Roach lead vocalist Jacoby Shaddix.  “One part that I think is really meaningful in the video is when Skylar and I are in the shot at the same time, yet we’re not engaging with each other.  It represents the ‘disconnection’ with two people, which is very much what the lyrics describe.” Grey adds, “You are loving someone from a distance, not able to reach them.”

For a behind the scenes look at the video for “Periscope,” fans can head over to Alternative Press!

Papa Roach To Release Ninth Studio Album, ‘Crooked Teeth,’ On May 19th!

Papa Roach To Release Ninth Studio Album, ‘Crooked Teeth,’ On May 19th!

Papa Roach announce the May 19 release of their ninth-studio album, “Crooked Teeth” via Eleven Seven Music. The band has already given fans of taste of album with the November release of the title track (listen HERE) and the explosive new single “Help,” (listen HERE) both of which will be instantly available to those who pre-order the album on iTunes (Standard or Deluxe) TODAY!  Crooked Teeth will be available digitally and physically, as a standard (10 tracks) and deluxe (10 tracks + 3 brand new tracks + 16 Live tracks Live at the Fillmore Detroit) editions (see details below).

“Help” burst on to the radio waves and streaming services earlier this month by debuting as  #1 Most Added at Active Rock and is currently #6 and streams of 4 million. Watch the lyric video for “Help” HERE. The band previously released their first new music at the end of 2016 with the release of “Crooked Teeth,” which boasts ‘old school’ Papa Roach attitude, paired an 808 bass drop into a metal breakdown. Fans and critics alike heard this intention loud a clear with Loudwire calling the song a “mishmash of a variety of styles [the band] has entertained throughout the last nearly two decades, even tossing in a bass moment that brings to mind artists like Drake.”

Written and recorded in a cramped North Hollywood studio, Crooked Teeth was produced by first timers Nicholas “RAS” Furlong and Colin Brittain, with the exception of “Born for Greatness,” which saw the band collaborate with writer/producer Jason Evigan(Jason Derulo, Demi Lovato, Zedd, Maroon 5) for this positive, pulsating anthem.  Furlong and Brittain, who grew up listening to Papa Roach, inspired the band to revisit some of the traits that personally endeared the band to them, most notably Shaddix’s remarkable rapping technique and the bands intense live energy.

“The first time we met up with RAS and Colin, they said that [2000’s] Infest was on constant rotation when they were growing up and they wanted to bring back some of that fire,” says Shaddix.  Adds Furlong, “The whole idea was to take the classic elements of Papa Roach that everyone loved and revamp them into a modern version of the sound through the creative process, and we ended up with a bold, courageous and more adventurous version of Papa Roach.”

The Furlong/Brittain production team worked to bring in elements of music from different genres and parts of the world, and pockets of rhythm people associate more with rap or reggae, while still staying true to Papa Roach’s sound. “The people who have wanted to hear me rap for years are gonna love some of the viciousness on this record,” Shaddix proclaims.

From the instantly infectious nature of the title track to the atmospheric sheen of the moody ballad “Periscope” (featuring Skylar Grey) and the acoustic/ hip-hop rock mashup of “Sunrise Trailer Park” (featuring Machine Gun Kelly adding a verse to Shaddix rap) “Crooked Teeth” displays the various sides of Papa Roach and illustrates why they’ve managed to remain relevant while other musical trends ebb and flow. “We didn’t go into this album with the intention of trying to write radio singles,” guitarist Jerry Horton explains. “This collection of songs was really about bookending everything that we’ve done prior to this album and reintroducing Papa Roach to people who didn’t realize the depth that we have,” says drummer Tony Palermo.

In many ways making “Crooked Teeth” reminded Shaddix of the band’s earliest days, well before they sold millions of albums and became a household name.  “When we were in the rehearsal space I wasn’t thinking about who I needed to impress, I was thinking about how much I love making music with the guys in this band.”  “It [the album] feels honest and pure and that’s all we could hope for,” adds bassist Tobin Esperance.

The band is set to hit the road throughout the year, with more shows to be announced soon!  See the current tour dates below.

Stone Sour and Papa Roach Announce Co-Headling Tour For 2013!

Stone Sour and Papa Roach Announce Co-Headling Tour For 2013!

Stone Sour

With the two bands currently selling out multiple shows together across Europe, Grammy-nominated rock bands Stone Sour and Papa Roach will head out on a U.S. co-headline tour in January 2013.  Stone Sour, currently in the midst of a tour across five continents, will close out every show.

Stone Sour has the #1 Active Rock track in the country for the second week in a row with “Absolute Zero” which Billboardmagazine calls “A ruthless hard rocker, the track pummels the listener in the gut…”  They released House of Gold & Bones Part 1, the first installment of their two album series, House of Gold & Bones, on Roadrunner Records, October 22, 2012; it debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 album charts.  House of Gold & Bones Part 2 will be released spring 2013.  Recorded at Sound Farm Studios just outside of the band’s native Des Moines, Iowa with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse) at the helm, the album has met with early rave reviews worldwide: “…by far the most accomplished album of Stone Sour’s career.  Depth, emotion and spirit seem to infuse everything.  2013 has ‘Stone Sour’ written all over it.” – 4Ks – KERRANG! (UK)

The gold-selling Iowa hard rock outfit has sold over four million albums worldwide over the course of three full-length releases. Their self-titled debut and sophomore effort Come What(ever) May both were certified Gold, while 2010’s Audio Secrecy debuted at #6 on the Billboard Top 200. Their arsenal includes “Absolute Zero”, as well as previous number one singles “Through Glass,” “Say You’ll Haunt Me” and “Bother”.

Papa Roach

Papa Roach’s current single, “Where Did the Angels Go” is the #1 most added Active Rock track for 2 weeks in a row, following the 11 top 10 hits in their career. The band’s most recent album, The Connection (Eleven Seven Music, October 2012), which Revolver proclaims “Is a fist-pumping return to form,” and adds the tracks are “grittier and crunchier, akin to those on their breakout albums,” debuted top 20 on the Billboard Top 200. The album’s lead single “Still Swingin” peaked at #3 on the Active rock chart the current single, “Angels” is the #1 most added single at Active rock for the second week in a row.  “Still Swingin’” was also chosen as #6 on Kerrang’s 250 Greatest Rock Songs of 2012. Known for their electrifying and explosive live shows, Papa Roach have become the common denominator for some of the most successful rock tours in recent years and have critics worldwide hailing them as “the best live band.” In August ’10, Papa Roach released Time For Annihilation…On the Record and On the Road (Eleven Seven Music), which debuted as the #1 Independent Rock, #23 Top 200, #4 Hard Rock and #5 Alternative Album on Billboard’s charts. The album’s singles “Kick in the Teeth” and “Burn” both remained in the Top 5 at the active rock radio format for over 8 weeks straight, joining eight additional Top 10 hits throughout the band’s career with songs such as “Last Resort” and “Scars.” With more than 10 years of success including highlights such as 10 million in album sales worldwide, two Grammy nominations, an MTV VMA nomination, 11 Top 10 rock hits, seven Top 10 alternative hits, the Most Played Alternative Song of the Decade (BDS), over 260 million online plays, 6.3 million combined fans, a hosting gig on MTV’s Scarred and countless sold out shows.

Stone Sour singer, songwriter and lyricist Corey Taylor, himself a bestselling author courtesy of last year’s Seven Deadly Sins, wrote the lyrics for the 23 tracks that make up House of Gold & Bones  which follows the compelling story of a character created by Taylor.  Music is just one of the mediums used to tell the story; Corey Taylor recently revealed details of the new project with Dark Horse Comics, House of Gold & Bones which follows, and expands on, the story contained within the albums.  With stunning covers from Jason Shawn Alexander (Empty Zone, Batman, Spider-Man), this limited four-issue series marks Corey Taylor’s debut in the comics genre.

Papa Roach Suspends Tour, Jacoby Shaddix To Undergo Throat Surgery

Papa Roach Suspends Tour, Jacoby Shaddix To Undergo Throat Surgery

Multi-platinum rockers Papa Roach have been forced to cancel the remainder of their scheduled dates on the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival, which kicked off last week in Kansas City. Lead singer Jacoby Shaddix has been diagnosed with a nodule on his left vocal chord. At the advice of his physician, he will undergo corrective surgery to remove the nodule and prevent further damage.

“It’s no secret that I’ve been having issues with my voice lately. I was hoping to be able to go out there and kill it on this tour by resting and doing vocal exercises, but my voice has just gone out on me. I hate to let our fans down, but unfortunately surgery is the only way to fix it,” Shaddix said. “The last thing we want to do is give our fans less than 100% every night. We know they’ll understand and we’ll be back better than ever.”

“It was amazing having Papa Roach on the road with us for the first few UPROAR shows. We’re disappointed that they can’t continue for the rest of the tour, but Jacoby’s health is the priority and we wish him a speedy recovery,” says Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival co-producer John Oakes.

The band apologizes for any inconvenience, but wants to assure fans that Shaddix is expected to make a complete recovery. Touring plans for this fall are not expected to be affected.

Earlier this summer, Papa Roach launched the first single, “STILL SWINGIN,” from their hotly anticipated upcoming album, THE CONNECTION (October 2, Eleven Seven Music). The track is currently top 15 at Active Rock and has charted at Alternative radio formats merely weeks after impacting. The track is equal parts classic Papa Roach with big hooks and an anthemic chorus, coupled with modern electronic elements; a song that at one time captures the hard rock band’s signature sound while exhibiting their contemporary edge.
