Metallica Reveals Dates For Second North American Leg of WorldWired Tour

You can’t keep a good band down! They dropped a few hints this past weekend and now it is official… Metallica’s WorldWired Tour returns to North America this Fall!  Following last summer’s 25 date sold-out stadium run, this year Metallica is bringing the in-the-round production currently being seen in European arenas to the U.S. and Canada kicking off on September 2, 2018, in Madison, WI.  Along the way they will be visiting 34 cities that they did not go to last year, and a few that they haven’t been to in decades, including Grand Forks, ND (nearly 30 years), Sioux Falls, SD, El Paso, TX, Birmingham, AL (nearly 26 years) and State College, PA (20 years).  About time, wouldn’t you say?!

The Fall/Winter tour will mark a few firsts for the band. Metallica Launches Website For Their All Within My Hands Foundation

In February of this year, Metallica announced the formation of their All Within My Hands Foundation, which is dedicated to assisting and enriching the lives of the members of the communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services. Today, the band has launched the website, www.allwithinmyhands.orgto keep fans up to date on the foundation, new activities, and the specific causes being supported. Fans can sign up for the e-mail list HERE to receive updates.

To celebrate the launch of the new website, as part of their “Give Good” campaign Starbucks and Spotify are donating $1 million to be divided between All Within My Hands, Chance The Rapper’s Social Works, and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation. To commemorate the partnerships, starting today (Tuesday, November 28th) limited edition gift cards featuring each artist will be available at 8,000 Starbucks stores throughout the U.S. while supplies last. Metallica have long taken pride in giving back to their community and have played at many benefit concerts over the years, including the Bridge School Benefit Concerts (appearing three times), the MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concerts, Live Earth, Global Citizen, and most recently Band Together Bay Area. The band has donated proceeds from ticket sales and album releases to various charitable organizations, including Fondation de France’s Give For France and Gilda’s Club NYC. Additionally, Metallica has met extensively with Make-A-Wish participants and supported local food banks around the world. Lastly, the band launched a partnership with Crowdrise encouraging fans to donate through their site for the chance to win tickets, meet & greets, access to pre-show parties and snake pit passes, and more.

Metallica has announced “Now That We’re Live,” a live rehearsal special from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore that will stream exclusively on Facebook Live on Tuesday May 9th at 9:00 PM EST, the eve of their inaugural show for the North American leg of the WorldWired Tour 2017.  The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and multiple-Grammy® Award winning band will warm up the stadium stage with a full-scale rehearsal performance.

The ‘Now That We’re Live’ rehearsal special will feature Metallica performing four songs in their entirety (including their current single, “Now That We’re Dead”). The presentation will offer fans an early glimpse of the groundbreaking production elements of the WorldWired tour and will be available for on-demand viewing following the live stream via Metallica.com and the band’s Facebook page.

Said Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, “We are psyched to share some of our rehearsals and final pre-production run-through with our friends around the world, and we hope you’ll come hang with us as we fire up the engines for the North American Summer run.”

In an unprecedented move for Metallica, the band will release music videos for each song from their forthcoming album, Hardwired…To Self-Destruct starting today at 12:00 PM EST on www.metallica.com and simultaneously with editorial partners around the world for every two hours.  New songs and their videos will premiere right up to when the clock turns over at midnight in New Zealand, where the first official copy of the new album will be available worldwide. The videos – shot around the globe – will give fans the opportunity to hear the long awaited Metallica album two days ahead of its official November 18th release via Blackened Recordings.

Directors for the videos include: Jonas Åkerlund, who originally worked with the band on “Turn The Page” and “Whiskey In The Jar,” album package photographers Herring and Herring, Colin Hakes (“Hardwired”), Clark Eddy (“Atlas Rise,” and countless “Making of . . .” clips), Tom Kirk (“Moth Into Flame”), Claire Marie Vogel, Jessica Cope, Rob Valley, Phil Mucci, and Metallica’s very own videographer Brett Murray. Grammy® Award winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and Record Store Day ambassadors Metallica will celebrate the release of their forthcoming album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct with fans and independent record stores around the world as part of Blackened Friday.

Starting on Thursday November 17th, 100 independent record stores will open at Midnight to sell the new album. Stores will be stocked with music, prizes and additional limited edition exclusive items to give away free with purchase. On Friday the 18th during their normal business hours, stores around the world will be hosting Blackened Friday events with music and giveaways of limited edition items. Grammy® Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Metallica will unleash “Atlas, Rise!” to fans this coming Halloween at 3:00 PM EST / 12:00 PM PST. The song is the third track to be released from Metallica’s forthcoming album, Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, due for release on the band’s own Blackened Recordings on November 18th and follows previously released tracks “Hardwired” and “Moth Into Flame”.

To help fans get into the Halloween spirit, starting this Friday, October 28th, Metallica fans around the world can visit select independent record stores for the chance to obtain a free limited edition Hardwired…To Self-Destruct Halloween mask. Inside of each mask fans will find a special access code that will allow them to hear “Atlas, Rise!” 30-minutes prior to it’s official release on Halloween. Metallica Release Video For “Moth Into Flame” From Forthcoming Album ‘Hardwired…To Self-Destruct’

Grammy® Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Metallica have revealed “Moth Into Flame”, the second track from their forthcoming album Hardwired…to Self-Destruct, scheduled to be release on the band’s Blackened Recordings on November 18th. The band world premiered the song on The Howard Stern Show this morning on SiriusXM and shortly after debuted the video for the song, which was directed by Tom Kirk. Hardwired…To Self-Destruct was produced by Greg Fidelman and is available for pre-order in a variety of configurations HERE.

Earlier today, Metallica recorded a special edition of SiriusXM’s “Town Hall” series-answering questions from a select group of SiriusXM listeners in the SiriusXM studios in New York City. The “Town Hall” special, hosted by music journalist and SiriusXM host David Fricke, will air on the band’s limited-run SiriusXM channel Mandatory Metallica, launching Wednesday, November 16.

Following a performance at Global Citizen Festival this past Saturday in Central Park, Metallica announced a special intimate performance tomorrow, September 27th at Webster Hall for their Fifth Member fan club members. All proceeds from the show will be donated to City Harvest.

On Thursday, September 29th the band will perform their current single “Hardwired” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Fans can tune in at 11:35/10:35c on NBC (check local listings).

Metallica To Unleash ‘Hardwired…To Self-Destruct’ On November 18th

Metallica will release their eleventh studio album, Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, on November 18th, via Blackened Recordings. The 2 CD / 2 Vinyl set is the Grammy® Award winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s first studio album since 2008’s multi-platinum Death MagneticHardwired…To Self-Destruct is available for pre-order at www.Metallica.com starting today in various configurations including: CD, Vinyl, Digital, Deluxe, and Deluxe Deluxe Versions. The albumis produced by Greg Fidelman, who engineered and mixed Death Magnetic.

“Hardwired,” the first track to be released from the forthcoming album was played for the first time earlier today during a live remote broadcast from Metallica’s HQ in the Bay Area. During an interview with Minneapolis rock station 93X discussing the band’s performance at U.S. Bank Stadium on August 20th, Lars Ulrich stunned 93X’s Pablo by unleashing the incendiary song for the first time, much to the surprise (and delight) of the station, as well as fans around the world. “Hardwired” will be delivered as an instant download to fans who preorder the album.

Metallica also premiered the official video for “Hardwired” today.  The clip can be viewed HERE.

Metallica will perform this Saturday, August 20th, at U.S. Bank Stadium – the new home of the Minnesota Vikings. The band’s performance will be the first rock concert at the venue and tickets sold out in less than 10 minutes. Fans can tune in from home via a Pandora live stream beginning at 10 pm EST at http://pdora.co/metallicalive. Individual songs from the concert will also spin on Pandora. Additionally, in celebration of Saturday’s performance, the band will be launching the official Metallica Pop-Up Store in Minneapolis this weekend. The store will have exclusive show merchandise and items not available anywhere else (including inside the stadium) as well as a wide selection of classic Metallica merch. The Metallica Pop-Up Store will be located at 401 2nd Ave North and open on Friday, August 19th from 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM and Saturday, August 20th from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Pandora, the go-to music source for fans and artists, announced today it will livestream Metallica’s headlining performance at Minneapolis’ new U.S. Bank Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 20. The band’s performance is the first rock concert at the new home of the Minnesota Vikings and tickets sold out in less than 10 minutes. The livestream will begin at 10 p.m. EST on Saturday, Aug. 20. Pandora listeners can tune in the day of and catch it on replay at http://pdora.co/metallicalive. Individual songs from the concert will also spin on Pandora.

Metallica, who has nearly 2 billion spins on Pandora, also curated an exclusive mixtape in celebration of the show and livestream. The mixtape features songs handpicked by all of the members of the band and features an eclectic mix of all-time favorites and recent discoveries from across the spectrum of music.
