The Smashing Pumpkins Announce Special 30th Anniversary Live Shows; New LP Coming November 16

October 1, 2018GRAMMY®-winning, acclaimed alternative rock luminaries The Smashing Pumpkins have announced a string of 30th anniversary live shows that kick off November 28th at The Sylvee in Madison, WI.

In addition to their previously announced sold-out date in Chicago, these upcoming shows will see the band performing in St. Louis, Tulsa, San Antonio, Tucson, and Phoenix.

Tickets for the shows will be available at 10:00am local time this Friday, October 5 HERE.

Last month, The Smashing Pumpkins announced a November 16th release date for their highly-anticipated new LP SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. NO SUN. Recorded at Shangri La Studios with multi-GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Rick Rubin, the LP is the band’s first in over 18 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin, with longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder.

The band has released two singles from the album, beginning with “Solara” and itsdreamlike music video, which was directed by Nick Koenig and expands on the theatrics of the band’s catalog of iconic music videos. Watch it HERE.

The release of “Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts)” came next, along with a lyric video featuring Corgan’s handwritten lyrics, which can be viewed HERE. In the coming weeks, the quartet is expected to release a music video for the track, directed by Corgan.

Both “Solara” and “Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts)” are available to stream and download HERE.

The LP is available for preorder HERE via Billy Corgan’s own Martha’s Music under exclusive license to Napalm Records via a strategic worldwide partnership.

Last month, The Smashing Pumpkins wrapped their monumental Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour, which sold over 300,000 tickets across North America and saw them playing sold-out arena shows at venues including The Forum, United Center and  Madison Square Garden. Produced by Live Nation, the tour was the band’s first in nearly two decades to feature Corgan, Chamberlin and Iha, alongside Schroeder, bassist Jack Bates and keyboardist Katie Cole. Critics were quick to praise the tour’s opening dates as “a massive gift to their fans” (Uproxx), “a welcome reminder of why those early albums resonated in the first place” (SPIN), and “an unforgettably rewarding and often spectacular odyssey(Forbes).

Formed in 1988 in Chicago, IL, The Smashing Pumpkins released their heralded debut album Gish in 1991 and found mainstream success with 1993’s 4x multi-platinum Siamese Dream and 1995’s 10x multi-platinum Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. A Perfect Circle Release New Song “So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish”

A Perfect Circle Release New Song “So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish”

A Perfect Circle share new song “So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish” (https://aperfectcircle.lnk.to/FishAudioPR) as the release date for Eat The Elephant (April 20, BMG) nears. The song premiered last night on BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show as Daniel P. Carter’s Rockest Record and is available now to stream or download.

“We all cope with the absurd in our own manner,” said Maynard James Keenan in reference to the new track. “The Italian side of me produces and shares wine with friends in order to feel grounded and connected in the midst of all the madness. But once the wine is gone, the drunk and sarcastic Irish side of me goes straight for the unreasonable jugular. #comedyfirstandalways”

A Perfect Circle made their Coachella debut last night, playing several new songs including the aforementioned “So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish,” “Eat The Elephant” and “TalkTalk.” In contrast to the festival set, the band plays an intimate outing at Santa Barbara’s Arlington Theatre tomorrow night before returning to the desert for a second performance. On the eve of Eat The Elephant’s release (Thursday, April 19 at 7:15 pm pacific), Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel, in partnership with Revolver, will answer fan’s questions in a rare Q&A (tune in via the band’s Facebook page – facebook.com/aperfectcircle). A Perfect Circle play “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Monday, April 23.

Revolver, who feature the band as their current cover story, proclaimed “Eat The Elephant is a call to action – in a world that sometimes seems doomed.” Rolling Stone said the 12-song collection “is a moody, sensitive portrait of a band that decided to grow up and make a record that reflects where they are now…,” while Kerrang dubbed the album “a future classic.”

Eat The Elephant pre-orders, which offer instant downloads of “So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish,” “TalkTalk” (https://AperfectCircle.lnk.to/TalkTalkVEVO), “Disillusioned” (https://AperfectCircle.lnk.to/DisillusionedVideoPR) and “The Doomed” (http://smarturl.it/TheDoomedVideo) are available now: https://AperfectCircle.lnk.to/EatTheElephantPR). The 12-song album is available in multiple formats including digital, CD, double gatefold 180-gram vinyl and a box set with both the vinyl and CD as well as a prism and custom playing card deck. In advance of Record Store Day, a limited-edition independent retail exclusive version of the LP on white 180-gram vinyl with alternate cover will also be available.

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS: Reunion Announced Featuring Original Members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin and James Iha

GRAMMY® Award-winning, acclaimed alternative rock pioneers The Smashing Pumpkins today announced the Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour, their first tour in nearly 20 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha. “Some 30 years ago, as The Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha and I began a musical journey in the cramped rear bedroom of my Father’s house. And so it’s magic to me that we’re able to coalesce once more around the incredible Jimmy Chamberlin, to celebrate those songs we’ve made together,” shared Corgan.

The band broke news of the tour this morning with a dramatic video featuring original Siamese Dream album cover stars Ali Laenger and LySandra Roberts. Watch the clip HERE.

The monumental Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour, which coincides with the 30th anniversary of the band’s formation, will highlight music from the group’s inception through 2000, and will exclusively feature material from their groundbreaking debut Gish through Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Adore, and Machina. Longtime Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder will also take part, as the band moves to a three guitar lineup to better emulate the signature tones and textures of their albums.

“This show and staging will be unlike any we’ve ever done, and will feature a set unlike any we’ve ever played. For if this is a chance at a new beginning, we plan on ushering it in with a real bang,” added Corgan.

Formed in Chicago, IL in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins released their heralded debut album Gish in 1991 and found mainstream success with 1993’s 4x multi-platinum Siamese Dream and 1995’s 10x multi-platinum Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. A Perfect Circle Release ‘Eat The Elephant’ On April 20th, Tracklist Revealed!

A Perfect Circle Release ‘Eat The Elephant’ On April 20th, Tracklist Revealed!

A Perfect Circle release Eat The Elephant, the band’s fourth full-length album and first since 2004’s eMOTIVe, on April 20 via BMG.

The album arrives following years of anticipation and speculation, which reached a fever pitch as the outfit helmed by Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel launched their Fall 2017 tour with the release of “The Doomed” (http://smarturl.it/TheDoomedVideo). The band then ushered in the new year with the debut of the contemplative song, “Disillusioned” (http://smarturl.it/DisillusionedYT).

“Although I’m extremely excited to finally be completing this album after a 14-year hiatus,” explains Keenan. “I’m actually more excited that its intentional release date is serving a greater purpose. The 20thof April is Carina Round’s birthday. She is a dear friend who is extremely difficult to shop for. Pressure off. Of course, I must also note that the potheads are gonna be thrilled that this album comes out on 4-20. May it serve as a glorious soundtrack to accompany all of the giggling and vexing sounds of nibbling and snacking. Fingers crossed, Cheech & Chong will be proud.”

“Demos are these precious ideas that you love in their initial state,” adds Howerdel. “Then you collaborate, invite other ideas, and watch them progress. That’s the dynamics and growth of a great record. I feel we’ve made a great record.”

Pre-orders for the 12-song album, which was co-produced by Dave Sardy (Autolux, Slayer), are available now (https://AperfectCircle.lnk.to/EatTheElephantPR) and come with instant digital downloads of “TalkTalk” (http://smarturl.it/TalkTalkVEVO), “Disillusioned” and “The Doomed.” Eat The Elephant is being released in multiple formats including digital, CD, double gatefold 180-gram vinyl and a box set with vinyl, CD and hi-res digital download as well as a prism and custom playing card deck. In advance of Record Store Day, a limited-edition independent retail exclusive version of the LP on white 180-gram vinyl with alternate cover will also be available. A Perfect Circle Kicks Off 2018 With The Release of “Disillusioned”

A Perfect Circle Kicks Off 2018 With The Release of “Disillusioned”

A Perfect Circle welcomed 2018 with the release of “Disillusioned,” the second piece of new music from their forthcoming BMG debut. Listen to the song here: http://smarturl.it/DisillusionedYT.

“Disillusioned” stands in stark contrast to “The Doomed,” the first track the band previewed from the as-of-yet untitled album. Where “The Doomed” felt “apocalyptic” (Rolling Stone) and the track’s video (http://smarturl.it/TheDoomedVideo) was “eerie” and “intense” (Revolver), “Disillusioned” strikes a more optimistic tone, urging listeners to connect with each other once again.

“’The Doomed’ was a rude wake-up call… apologies if you were sleeping peacefully,” said Billy Howerdel of the tone of the bombastic song. “’Disillusioned’ comes from a place of overcoming the slide into the numb. It speaks to reconnection and a fresh start to a new year.”

Addressing the musicality of the song, which echoes the sentiment of unity, Maynard James Keenan said: “Attempting new approaches to composing can be intimidating. Especially with an established project with such a recognizable sound. But sometimes you just gotta take the first swing. Only way to grow.”

A limited edition,10-inch single for “The Doomed/Disillusioned” arrives on March 9. The collectible vinyl has a dual pressing of both songs on side A and a screen-printed B-side. Pre-orders are available now: http://smarturl.it/APC10.

A Perfect Circle has confirmed a trio of U.S. festival performances for this Spring: Las Rageous, Northern Invasion and Rock on the Range which will be followed by the band’s first European tour in close to fifteen years (dates below).

A Perfect Circle Debut Video For “The Doomed” From Forthcoming Album

A Perfect Circle Debut Video For “The Doomed” From Forthcoming Album

A Perfect Circle, who recently released “The Doomed,” the first new music to be heard from the band’s expected 2018 album, return with an accompanying video for the “apocalyptic” (Rolling Stone) track: http://smarturl.it/TheDoomedVideo.

The video, which was directed by Jeremy Danger and Travis Shinn, arrives as the band is in the final two weeks of their North American tour. A Perfect Circle also recently announced their first European tour in fourteen years (dates below).

Upon arrival of “The Doomed” (http://smarturl.it/TheDoomedVevo), Maynard James Keenan said: “Fourteen years have passed since we released eMOTIVe. A new release is long overdue. In light of this current difficult and polarized social, spiritual and political climate, we artist types need to open our big mouths and share the light a little louder.”

“Years of life experience has brought our music to this moment,” offered Billy Howerdel. “We know where we came from. Deeply connected to the path we’re on.”

A Perfect Circle have signed a worldwide recording deal with BMG and are working with producer Dave Sardy on the follow-up to 2004’s eMOTIVe.

A Perfect Circle, who recently wrapped up a sold out U.S. tour, return to the road this fall, kicking off a North American trek at the Aftershock festival on Oct. 21.

The band’s spring outing, their first U.S. tour in six years, began with a three-night stand at The Pearl in Las Vegas. “It was as if they never left, both in terms of the sharpness of their performance and the contemporary relevancy… of their catalog,” said the Las Vegas Review Journal in their review of the opening evening. As the band worked their way through the month of U.S. dates, Keenan dubbed the outing the “get to know ya/re-get to know ya” tour, a nod to the band’s hiatus and news of their forthcoming album.
