A new Michael Jackson song, which features Lenny Kravitz, has leaked to the web. A sample of the track, entitled ‘Another Day’, can be heard below.
‘Another Day’ is one of the first posthumous tracks by the singer, who died earlier this year, to be heard by fans since This Is It was leaked onto the web.
Last autumn, another previously unheard Jackson song, ‘This Is It’, was released alongside a documentary about his ill-fated comeback shows.
It is thought the star also recorded tracks with Akon and Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am.
A&E presents “The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty,” a new real-life series that will chronicle the personal and professional lives of Jackie, Jermaine, Tito and Marlon as they prepare for a Jackson Five reunion, while also coming to terms with Michael’s tragic loss. The series premieres Sunday, December 13 with back-to-back one-hour episodes beginning at 9:00pm ET/PT. The series will then move to its regularly scheduled time, Sunday’s at 10:00pm ET/PT beginning December 20 on A&E.
Behind the headlines lies a captivating family, whose lives have been unwillingly played out before cameras for decades. After 40 years in the business together, Jackie, Jermaine, Tito and Marlon, have sold more than 250 million albums worldwide. Now, the brothers allow unprecedented access into their world as they record new material and rehearse for a concert celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Jackson Five. “The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty” will chronicle the brothers’ relationships with each other, their parents and their children, while also balancing the demands of their professional commitments and celebrity. The series will also document the brothers’ coming to terms with Michael’s tragic loss and how to properly honor his legacy.
“This deeply intimate portrait will provide viewers with a raw and honest look inside a musical dynasty,” said Robert Sharenow, Senior Vice President of Nonfiction & Alternative Programming, A&E Network and BIO Channel. “For the first time ever, the remaining members of The Jackson Five allow cameras inside their very private world, giving the public a glimpse into how they balance their extremely busy personal and professional lives with the demands of celebrity.”
“The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty” will follow the brothers as they record vocals for a song on Michael’s This Is It soundtrack; attend the bittersweet premiere of the film; travel to London to support Tito who is a special guest star for musical legend Gladys Knight at a Wembley Arena concert performance; and try to balance their obligations as The Jackson Five while also pursuing their individual interests and projects.
“The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty” is produced for A&E Network by Point 7 Entertainment with Jodi L. Gomes serving as executive producer. Also serving as executive producers are Jermaine L. Jackson, Jackie Jackson, Tito Jackson, Marlon Jackson and Lori Gomes. Co-Executive producer is David Rupel. Supervising Producer is Anthony McLemore. Executive producers for A&E are Robert Sharenow, Scott Lonker and Stephen Harris.
Michael Jackson’s This Is It DVD was originally slated to be released prior to Christmas, but due to a regulation that usually forces studios to wait a minimum 90 days before releasing a new film to DVD, it has been pushed to a late January or early February DVD release, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Because the film will only have a two-week theatrical run, Sony executives argued that a This Is It DVD should circumvent the agreement between theater owners and movie studios, but the theater chains relented.
The AP reports that Sony will submit the documentary for Academy Award consideration in categories ranging from film editing and sound to Best Picture and Best Director. Unfortunately, the most noteworthy category in which This Is It had the best chances of competing, the Best Documentary Oscar, already passed its deadline, making Jackson’s rehearsal footage film ineligible.
The film will also be ineligible for the Golden Globes, as it doesn’t recognize documentaries. Because this year’s Oscars will feature an expanded Best Picture field of 10 nominees, based on its rave reviews it’s plausible that This Is It could score an Oscar nod.
Taylor Swift will tackle another big challenge next month when she hosts “Saturday Night Live.” When asked about the upcoming gig, Swift said ”I’ve been thinking about skit ideas for a long time, there are definitely some hilarious things that have happened to me over the past couple of months that I think will be pretty substantial skits.”
Swift called the chance to host on Nov. 7 “mind-blowing” and says it’s been difficult to keep it a secret since producers asked her during the summer. She said she loved her experience in January when she was a musical guest, and will again perform when she hosts. ”I love being around people who I feel have a different kind of creative genius,” said Swift. “And the funny genius is definitely a fascinating one to be around.”
Swift hopes to collaborate with cast member Andy Samberg on a digital short music video who recently collaborated with Justin Timberlake.
Swift will also perform on “Dancing With the Stars” Oct. 27.
Her album “Fearless” has sold more than 4 million copies and her record sales now top 10 million albums and 20 million paid song downloads.
Michael Jackson’s new single “This Is It” has began streaming online and hitting the collective airwaves, nearly four months after the “king of pop” died of a prescription drug overdose aged 50. The disc ends with two versions of the never-released, “This Is It,” which is featured in the film’s closing sequence and includes backing vocals by Jackson’s brothers.
Disc 2 offers previously unreleased versions of some of the artist’s classic tracks. This disc also features a touching spoken word poem from Jackson titled “Planet Earth” that has never been heard before, Sony said.
