Max Tannone Unveils ‘Beastie Boys: Doublecheck Your Head’ Mashup Album

beastie_cover2A few months ago, we told you about a great mashup album from Max Tannone (formerly Minty Fresh Beats) that combined the powers of two musical juggernauts, Jay-Z and Radiohead. Minty Fresh premiered the Jaydiohead mash on his MySpace page on December 30, 2008 and the musical phenomenon quickly spread across file-sharing sites and message boards worldwide.

The original ten track LP included such tracks as 99 Anthems, Paranoid Android, No Karma, Dirt Off Your Android and Fall In Step.He followed that outing up with “Jaydiohead: The Encore” which featured five all-new tracks.

Tannone shows no signs of slowing down as he has been hard at work in the studio working on a new creation, ‘Beastie Boys – Doublecheck Your Head.’

Fans of Max Tannone and the Beastie Boys can go to www.doublecheckyourhead.com to check out the album via stream or free download.

Tannone had this to say about his latest creation:

“I made the project in support of the Beastie Boys recent reissue of their “Check Your Head” album (one of my personal favorites.) The concept is that the Beastie Boys are mashed up with themselves, rapping over tracks sampling their own instrumentals, with all vocals and sampled elements coming from “Check Your Head.”

Pick Of The Week: ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’

Pick Of The Week: ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

The Classic Regency Romance—Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem!

By Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
prideandprejudiceandzombies

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.” So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton—and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers—and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead.

Can she vanquish the spawn of Satan? And overcome the social prejudices of the class-conscious landed gentry? Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into something you’d actually want to read.

Jane Austen is the author of Sense and SensibilityPersuasionMansfield Park, and other masterpieces of English literature.

Seth Grahame-Smith once took a class in English literature. He lives in Los Angeles. You fancy internet types can follow him on Twitter at twitter.com/sethgs.

You can rest assured that somewhere, George A. Romero is smiling.
