10 LIVES: Saliva To Release Tenth Studio Album On October 19th Via Megaforce Records

10 LIVES: Saliva To Release Tenth Studio Album On October 19th Via Megaforce Records

Formed in 1996, SALIVA broke out into the mainstream in 2001 when the band’s angsty hard rock pummeling helped earn a double-platinum certification for their sophomore album, Every Six Seconds. Building upon their previously released track on the Dracula 2000 soundtrack and Every Six Seconds, Josey Scott brought more attention to the band with “Hero”, a duet with Nickelback vocalist Chad Kroeger that appeared on the Spider-Man soundtrack and became an international hit in 2002. The band followed with seven more heavy-hitting albums released between 2002 and 2016 and a greatest hits collection in 2010.

Now, SALIVA is back with their tenth studio record, entitled 10 Lives, set to hit stores on October 19, 2018 via Megaforce Records. The album is available for pre-order now via Amazon.

Featuring their trademark, no-holds-barred sound, SALIVA once again prove themselves as the champion hit-makers they are with 10 Lives – quite possibly the band’s most energetic, catchy offering yet. Featuring 14 single-worthy anthems comprised of earworm hooks, shredding solos and razor-sharp production, 10 Lives will appeal to fans everywhere on the heavy music spectrum.

Produced by frontman Bobby Amaru and Steve Perreira in Jacksonville, FL, 10 Lives is a labor of love that took nearly a year to make. The band says, “This is the tenth record for us – we call it 10 Lives. The title represents where we are at in the band’s career. We feel stronger than ever… 10 Lives is about never giving up and grinding daily. We love making new records for the fans who continue to support the band through it all. This will not be the last!”

KINGS AMONG SCOTLAND: Anthrax’s Charlie Benante Discusses The Filming of Upcoming DVD

Multi-Grammy nominated thrash icons Anthrax will see the band’s long-awaited live-in-concert DVD, “Kings Among Scotland,” released on April 27 (Megaforce). But before that, the band’s Charlie Benante has just posted a video clip where he talks about the filming of the live set, the decision to film in Scotland, and the challenge of playing some of the songs live for the first time ever. Check out the clip below!

“Kings Among Scotland” will be available in CD (audio only), DVD and digital formats (both video), and can be pre-ordered at www.anthrax.com. When ordered digitally, the purchaser will receive “Breathing Lightning (live)” instantly.

The two-hour “Kings of Scotland” was filmed February 15, 2017 at the band’s sold-out concert at Barrowland Ballroom, the historic venue in Glasgow. The disc incorporates the band’s entire live show, and includes gems like “Madhouse,” “I Am the Law,” “Breathing Lightning” and “Indians.” The disc also features interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and other B-roll shot on the band’s tour bus, backstage, in hotels and elsewhere, plus a “gear rundown” from each of the band members.

“Kings Among Scotland” was produced, directed, filmed and edited for Film24Productions by Paul M. Green (Opeth, The Damned, The Levellers), with the sound mixed by Anthrax studio producer Jay Ruston. “Kings Among Scotland” can be pre-ordered now by going to www.anthrax.com.

ABOUT ANTHRAX:
As part of the band’s 35th anniversary year, Anthrax released one of 2016’s most-anticipated metal/thrash albums, For All Kings(February 26/Megaforce in North America/Nuclear Blast internationally), that debuted at #1 on Billboard’sHard Rock Chart, and #9 ontheTop 200, becoming Anthrax’s highest-charting album in more than two decades. Written by drummer Charlie Benante, bassist Frank Bello and guitarist Scott Ian, the dynamic triumvirate whose unique composition chemistry is, in part, what sets Anthrax’s music apart from other bands’ in the same genre, combined with Joey Belladonna’s breathtaking vocals and the searing guitar leads by newest member Jonathan Donais, it’s no wonder the album and the band’s live shows have consistently received tremendous reviews.

Over its three-and-a-half-decade career, Anthrax has been a pioneering band with its unique style, sound and heavy brand of thrash metal, and, as Metallica’s Kirk Hammett put it, “one can hear their influence on any number of up and coming bands.” Anthrax has sold in excess of 10-million units, received multiple Gold and Platinum certifications, six Grammy nominations and a host of other accolades from the media, industry and fans, including 2016’s inagural “Innovatator Award” presented at the the Epiphone/Revolver Music Awards. From the race and genre barriers Anthrax helped break down in 1988 when they collaborated with Public Enemy on “Bring The Noise,” to becoming a card-carrying member of The Big Four – with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth – as one of the four bands that defined the speed/thrash metal genre, to being the first metal band to have its music heard on Mars when NASA played “Got The Time” to wake up the Mars Rover, Anthrax continues to break ground and innovate.

Living Colour To Release ‘Shade’ On September 9th Via Megaforce Records

Living Colour To Release ‘Shade’ On September 9th Via Megaforce Records

Living Colour have announced the release of their latest studio album, ‘Shade,’ due September 8 on Megaforce Records. Produced by Andre Betts, it’s the legendary New York City rock band’s first new record in eight years. Living Colour gave fans a sneak peak of the recording in Fall 2016 when they released a reimagined take on The Notorious B.I.G.‘s “Who Shot Ya?” in protest of ongoing gun violence and racial profiling. They follow that tomorrow, June 9, with the release the album’s first official single “Come On.”

The initial spark for ‘Shade’ came via the mojo spirit of blues’ pioneer Robert Johnson who possessed Living Colour’s soul during a performance at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theatre. Roaring through an electrically charged cover of Johnson’s classic “Preachin’ Blues,” Living Colour moved both the audience and themselves.

“That was really the beginning of us thinking of the direction we want to take for our next project,” says Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid. “Hearing that blend of blues and metal was really what got the wheels turning.”

‘Shade,’ their first album since the critically acclaimed ‘The Chair in the Doorway‘ in 2009, is Living Colour at the height of their creative powers, still experimenting as though they were upstarts instead of seasoned veterans. While the blues served as the foundation for the collection, one shouldn’t expect to hear the “down-home” style that was once the soundtrack of sharecroppers and southern juke joints before the music rode the rails north during the Great Migration. Living Colour’s blues incorporate a myriad of influences, while speaking to the politically-charged climate of the times.

“What better way to talk to the world than through the blues?” vocalist Corey Glover asks. “We recorded ‘Preachin’ Blues’ several times to jump start the project and that got everybody fired up. After that, we were ready. ‘Shade,’ in its final outcome, is more of a deconstruction of the blues than an interpretation. It was the idiom that gave us our voice.”

Produced by Andre Betts—who first worked with Living Colour on their album ‘Stain’ in 1993—he would spend five years in the studio with the band perfecting the project. Initially introduced to Living Colour by their bassist Doug Wimbish, Betts was more than ready to face the challenge of working with such perfectionists.

“Making records is an art and a process, and sometimes it can be easier to herd cats,” Wimbish laughs. “But, when it connects and we come together, it’s a beautiful thing. ‘Shade’ is a testimony to who Living Colour is, to our chameleon quality.”

Without a doubt, that quality comes across clearly on the 13-track effort. ‘Shade’ is a sonic journey that careens from the furor of “Blak Out,” an old school thrasher that struts with a gangster boogie to “Program,” a searing, socially-spiked cocktail that nods to the band’s iconic hit “Cult of Personality.” Stand-out tracks such as the acid funk balladry of “Two Sides” (complete with a guest appearance by George Clinton) and the afro-punk fireworks of “Glass Teeth,” prove Corey Glover’s vocals to be stronger than ever, while Vernon Reid, long acknowledged as one of the most creative guitarists in modern rock, lives up to his reputation on album opener “Freedom Of Expression (F.O.X.)” and the soul blues of “Who’s That?” Drummer Will Calhoun points to “Invisible,” which pays homage the late Buddy Miles, among his favorites on the album.

Living Colour – Photo by Travis Shinn

“When we were starting out, Buddy came to every show we did in Chicago,” Calhoun says of the drummer who played with Jimi Hendrix (Band of Gypsys) and Carlos Santana. “He was a great friend of the group. Buddy Miles is such an unsung drummer who had the power of a locomotive. Buddy’s style is a thousand percent on this record.”

A connecting thread between the aforementioned covers of Robert Johnson’s “Preachin’ Blues” and Biggie’s “Who Shot Ya?,” is an evocative reading of Marvin Gaye’s “Inner City Blues,” which slides seamlessly between syncopated rhythm & blues and urgent hard rock.

While other veteran rockers are content with life on the road, Living Colour relish working on new material together. ‘Shade’ is a testament to that spirit.  Through the four members combined talent and friendship, they’ve explored the blues and its incarnations, musically as well as emotionally, and delivered an album that not only speaks to where they are as a band approaching their third decade together, but reflects back the world in these troubled times.

“To me, there seems to be a shadow cast across our collective lives. We can either allow it to oppress us or we can shine a light on it,” concludes Reid. “‘Shade’ is the sound of a band coming to terms with the shadows and shining a light by using the blues as a mirror.”

HANK3 Announces More U.S. Tour Dates for September and October 2013

hank3-2013-1

HANK3, the biggest hellbilly rock n’ roll outlaw of all time, recently closed the first leg of his hugely successful North American tour in support of his upcoming triple-threat of new releases (double disc Brothers of the 4×4 and single disc A Fiendish Threat), hitting stores October 1, 2013 via Hank3 Records. Now, HANK3 can announce the second leg of this tour, hitting major south western cities in late-September through mid-October. See below for all currently confirmed tour dates.

HANK3 TOUR DATES:

9/28 – Little Rock, AR @ The Revolution Music Room

9/30 – Houston, TX @ Scout Bar

10/1 – San Antonio, TX @ Backstage Live

10/3 – Dallas, TX @ Gas Monkey Bar and Grill

10/4 – Lubbock, TX @ Jake’s Sports Cafe

10/6 – Albuquerque, NM @ Sunshine Theater

10/8 – Tempe, AZ @ Marquee Theatre

10/9 – Santa Ana, CA @ The Observatory

10/10 – Santa Ana, CA @ The Observatory (Day 2)

10/15 – Santa Cruz, CA @ The Catalyst

As mentioned above, HANK3 will release a brand new DOUBLE country album, entitled Brothers of the 4×4, and a single punk album, entitled A Fiendish Threat, with his new project “3”. Both albums will be released in a double LP edition. With these dual releases,Brothers Of The 4×4 and A Fiendish Threat added to his already huge and varied arsenal of music, HANK3 will be raising all sorts of hell on stage while the fans raise their glasses in the audience once again, and you can bet your last dollar a damn good time will be had by all. Fans will get to taste the hardcore punk horror rock of A Fiendish Threat, a rippingly fast blast of sounds reminiscent of The Misfits, Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, The Ramones and other punk rock greats that are as much a part of HANK3‘s musical identity as his country roots. Fans will also get to hear HANK3’s country record, Brothers of the 4×4, which is just that- country, and the realness of it shines throughout the record like moonlight hitting a mason jar of corn liquor- it ain’t always the smoothest, and it doesn’t come wrapped in a fancy package, but it’s 100% pure whoop-ass in a bottle that gets the job done quicker and better and reminds you of where you originally came from once you figure out what just hit you.

When HANK3 hits the road, he hits it much harder than most. HANK3 shows are legendary for their length and intensity, averaging three hours a night, starting with a country set and ending with whatever his latest musical experiment happens to be. The man goes full throttle all the time, every time, as anyone who has ever been to one of his innumerable shows will attest.

In reference to the new records themselves, besides living the songs’ subject matter first, HANK3 sang and played both guitar and drums on both. As if pulling triple duty wasn’t enough, he engineered, produced, mixed and mastered all the tunes as well. Recording in his own home and releasing music on his own label, the Megaforce distributed HANK3 Records, allowed Williams complete creative control during the four month period it took to make both records.

HANK3 To Unleash “Brothers of the 4×4” And “A Fiendish Threat” On October 1st!

HANK3 To Unleash “Brothers of the 4×4” And “A Fiendish Threat” On October 1st!

The king of hellbilly, Mr. HANK3 himself, is pleased to announce a triple-threat of new releases, hitting stores October 1, 2013. HANK3will release a brand new DOUBLE country album, entitled Brothers of the 4×4, and a single punk album, entitled A Fiendish Threat, with his new project “3”.  Brothers of the 4×4 will also be available as a single LP vinyl version, and A Fiendish Threat will be available as a double LP vinyl version.

Recording in his own home and releasing music on his own label, the Megaforce distributed HANK3 Records, allowed Williams complete creative control during the four month period it took to make both records.

Besides living the songs subject matter first, HANK3 sang and played both guitar and drums on the records. As if pulling triple duty wasn’t enough, he engineered, produced, mixed and mastered all the tunes as well.  Not bad for someone who in his own words is dyslexic and has ADD,  ccording to HANK3 “my mind is all over the place”. But even a man talented and driven enough to do (count ’em) seven jobs at once has his limits, so HANK3 has once again assembled a top-notch ensemble of pickers and pluckers for Brothers Of The 4×4 and A Fiendish Threat.

The required stand-up bass holds the low end down at the deft hands of Zach Shedd, with David McElfresh and Billy Contreras whipping razor sharp bows across the fiddle. Daniel Mason handles banjo, with a special guest appearance on “Possum In A Tree” by former National Old-Time Banjo Champion Leroy Troy working his banjo in the old school clawhammer style, while Andy Gibson wrings the sweetest of notes out his stand up steel guitar. Finally, long-time collaborator and fellow multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire Johnny Hiland rips his chicken pickin’ guitar to feathers and shreds.

A little bit of country...

A little bit of country…

HANK3‘s latest country record is just that- country, and the realness of it shines throughout the record like moonlight hitting a mason jar of corn liquor- it ain’t always the smoothest, and it doesn’t come wrapped in a fancy package, but it’s 100% pure whoop-ass in a bottle that gets the job done quicker and better and reminds you of where you originally came from once you figure out what just hit you. On “Outdoor Plan” he sings of fishing and hunting as a way of life, and it’s a fact that more than one deer and turkey has met its maker at the end of HANK3’s gun’s barrel. The title track, “Brothers of the 4×4” celebrates the wide open full throttle love of off roadin’ and rootin’ in a four wheel drive- the cover of the record shows Williams mud bogging in a custom 4×4, and it’s not some redneck rental- that’s his ride. And because life ain’t always happy, when the heartbreak and hard times cracks through the sonic celebration on songs like “Loners 4 Life” and “Ain’t Broken Down”, it’s because HANK3 is well acquainted with the darker side of life, and not as some tourist. The album is a rich and gritty sounding mixture of sadness, pride, hope- in other words, it’s a great country record.

As mentioned above, HANK3 will head out on a headline tour of select major markets on August 24th. The tour will kick off in Austin, TX at The Austin Bat Fest, and will tour several cities, coming to a close on September 8th in Atlanta, GA at The Masquerade.

... a little bit of punk.

… a little bit of punk.

With Brothers of the 4×4 and A Fiendish Threat set for release October 1st, Williams is ready to hit the road, and when he hits the road, he hits it much harder than most. Hank 3 shows are legendary for their length and intensity, averaging three hours a night, starting with a country set and ending with whatever his latest musical experiment happens to be. For this touring cycle, fans will get to taste the hardcore punk horror rock of A Fiendish Threat, a rippingly fast blast of sounds reminiscent of The Misfits, Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, The Ramones and other punk rock greats that are as much a part of Hank 3’s musical identity as his country roots. But A Fiendish Threat, like all of the man’s musical output, is anything but a formulaic, by-the-numbers rehash of what has been previously done by others. Stand up bass, fiddle, and banjo are not exactly standard instruments in punk rock, but they are on this record, riding beneath 3’s howling distorted vocals. Perhaps this is the birth of rebelcore punk? Whatever you want to call it, Williams has left his own touch on the genre, even utilizing a bizarrely beautiful Hula-music-on-acid sounding Hawaiian guitar at times. Some of the songs can make the listener feel like someone dropped LSD in their cheap draft beer at a CBGB matinee show headlined by a ghoulish Hawaiian punk band. A Fiendish Threat is yet another of Williams already numerous signature sounds, and he’s excited to put it in front of the audience for the first time. “You know when you do a new record, you just want to play it for all your friends. That’s what I’m excited for with this punk record, I get use a voice that doesn’t get used that often, and pay respects to some of my influences at the same time. Doing this record made feel like I was growing stronger- it took some of the years off me, to tell you the truth. Playing it makes me feel young again,” he laughs, “How long I will be able to pull it off all depends on the voice, man.”

With these dual releases, Brothers Of The 4×4 and A Fiendish Threat added to his already huge and varied arsenal of music, HANK3will be raising all sorts of hell on stage while the fans raise their glasses in the audience once again, and you can bet your last dollar a damn good time will be had by all. The man goes full throttle all the time, every time, as anyone who has ever been to one of his innumerable shows will attest.

Listen to Brothers of the 4×4 and A Fiendish Threat, go to a show, and find out for yourself. Just remember the next day, after a few aspirins, a dinner at your own table, and a sleep in your own bed, that HANK3 will be down the road doing his thing again, and for that rebel, “doing the best I can” means something a little different than it does for the average man.

HANK3’s new biography was recently penned by none other than heavy metal renaissance man and self-proclaimed redneck Randy Blythe of Lamb of God. Who better than a backwoods brother from another mother to conjure up a personal summary of HANK3’s recent successes and future plans?

Hank III Offers Free Download of Two “Cattle Callin” Tracks

You never know what you’re going to get from Hank3, and that’s certainly the case with his three brand-new albums – one country/hellbilly, one doom rock, and one speed metal – all due out September 6 on his own Hank3 Records.

His speed metal offering – 3 Bar Ranch Cattle Callin – explores a new mind-bending “Cattle Core” sound, featuring Hank3’s speed metal woven in and around actual cattle auctioneering, and in some cases, his own higher-register vocal treatment laid over the top. Well-known auctioneers Tim Dowler and Mitch Jordan are featured on the album. Metal fans will notice some tongue-in-cheek humor with titles such as “Heavy Cattle” and “Angus of Death.”

Decibel’s Deciblog is exclusively offering a free download of two songs from 3 Bar Ranch Cattle Callin – “Branded” and “Black Cow.” Log onto www.decibelmagazine.com/blog

and check them out. We doubt you’ve ever heard anything like it.

Hank III To Unleash Four New Albums On September 6th!

Hank III To Unleash Four New Albums On September 6th!

With his own new label,  Hank3 Records, and the sense that he has thrown off the chains holding him back creatively, Shelton Hank Williams III, aka Hank3, is coming out swinging this year with the release of FOUR records on September 6 – that’s right – FOUR.

The unprecedented launch, in a distribution partnership with Megaforce Records (MRI), features a broad range of music that bridges more than one head-thumping genre – a familiar theme that true Hank3 fans have embraced for years.  Ghost to a Ghost/Guttertown, a double-album set, is a straight-shooting country collection, flavored with Hank3’s trademark hellbilly sound, and heavily weighted with Cajun influence (especially on Guttertown) and an ambient, lonesome mood – and a few very special guests.

Two more releases are Attention Deficient Domination and 3 Bar Ranch Cattle Callin – intensely metal-driven records on which Hank3 plays all instruments.  Attention Deficit Domination is a pressure-dropping, doom rock statement that has been anticipated by his hardcore fans for years, and Cattle Callin explores a new mind-bending “Cattle Core” sound, featuring Hank3’s speed metal woven in and around actual cattle auctioneering.

All three projects were recorded at The Haunted Ranch, Hank3’s home and studio that lies on the outskirts of Nashville – a fitting place since the town has never really known what to do with this grandson of the American icon.  He finally parted ways with Curb Records January 1

“I have musical freedom.  I’m able to say ‘Here’s my record’ and I don’t have to go through a million different channels just to put out a song,” he says. “It’s all me now.”

Hank3 wrote the lion’s share of the songs that appear on the 41-track Ghost to a Ghost.   The players are Andy Gibson on steel guitar and banjo, who also aided in its recording, David McElfresh on fiddle and mandolin, Zach Shedd on standup bass, Daniel Mason on banjo, super-picker Johnny Hiland on guitar, Billy Contreras on fiddle, and Rory Hoffman on accordion.

Guest appearances include the mythical Tom Waits on the haunted “Fadin Moon” from Guttertown and on the Ghost to a Ghost title track, Alan King of Hellstomper, Les Claypool of Primus fame and beyond, Dave Sherman, Troy Medlin and Hank3’s dog, Trooper.

Cuts such as “Guttertown,” “Ridin The Wave,” and “The Devil’s Movin In” on Ghost to A Ghost, and “Goin to Guttertown,” “The Low Line,” and “I’ll Save My Tears” on Guttertown highlight both the excellent musicianship on the records, and Hank3’s unmistakable, confident vocals.

Attention Deficit Domination allows the listener into Hank3’s crunching, metal world of the heavy and the slow, complete with his renowned, fundamental percussion.  The nine tracks hardly allow you to get up from the floor.  With songs such as “I Feel Sacrificed” and the tormented

“Livin Beyond Doom,” Hank3 works a ground somewhere between devastation and high theatre.
“Both A.D.D. and Cattle Callin are very intense.  It’s very manic,” Hank3 says.  “It’s hard to follow, even for the guys I play with.  I’m playing everything on these two.  It’s very complex.”

There are 23 tracks on Cattle Callin, featuring Hank3’s driving, formidable guitar attack, with instrumentation build around the auctioneering and, in some cases, his own higher-register vocal treatment laid over the top.  Metal fans will notice some tongue-in-cheek humor with titles such as “Heavy Cattle” and “Angus of Death.”  Also, fans of bluegrass will love the banjo-driven “Cattle Callin Lonesome Blues,” featuring Mason.

“I was raised around it [cattle auctioneering] and it’s pretty amazing how fast these guys are,” Hank3 says.  “Hip-hop has looped auctioneers.  Bluegrass has messed around with it a little bit.  This has never been done in the heavy metal world.”

The September release of all three projects represents a new birth for Hank3, and he’s happy to have the chance.

“Megaforce Records has helped me with my vision to do something that’s never been done before,” he says.  “They’re handling my distribution, and I wanted to flood the market and do everything different.  I wanted to come out of the gate strong.

“I’m opening up the mind a little bit and bringing some different styles together.”
