ABOUT MOTÖRHEAD:
An English rock band formed in June 1975 by bassist, singer, and songwriter Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister, MOTÖRHEAD quickly rose to great prominence in the British punk and heavy metal scenes. Although they changed their line-up several times, MOTÖRHEAD never compromised or changed their unique, raging sound, which saw the band and their music become a lifestyle for many people from all genres, whether rockers, punks or alternative.

As a power trio, they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40. The albums OverkillBomberAce of Spades and particularly No Sleep ’till Hammersmith cemented MOTÖRHEAD‘s reputation as a top-tier rock band. The band is ranked number 26 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. As of 2018, their Grammy-winning sound has sold more than 17 million albums worldwide. Road dogs extraordinaire, for the last 20+ years of their career, MOTÖRHEAD were Kilmister, guitarist Phil Campbell, and drummer Mikkey Dee. In early 2015 they entered the studio to begin work on Bad Magic, which was released in late August 2015. It quickly became one of the band’s most successful albums, but sadly, Lemmy passed away on December 28, 2015. The band’s last record turned out to be a recording of two typically blistering sold-out shows from the Bad Magic tour, at Munich’s Zenith concert hall only a month prior to his passing.

MOTÖRHEAD released 22 studio albums, 13 live recordings, 12 compilation albums, and four EPs over a career spanning 40 years. The MOTÖRHEAD legacy (and lifestyle) lives strongly on through their music and loyal fans.

MOTÖRHEAD to Release “Under Cöver” Album On September 1st

MOTÖRHEAD to Release “Under Cöver” Album On September 1st

One thing Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee liked to do throughout their years together in MOTÖRHEAD was grab a favorite song by another artist and give it a good old fashioned ‘Motörheading’.  To run them through the Motörizer, if you will. To rock them, roll them and even give them an extra twist and edge.

In celebration of some of those finest moments, the band will release Under Cöver, a collection of some of their best covers, and a collection which will include the previously unreleased version of David Bowie’s timeless classic “Heroes”.  Recorded during the Bad Magic sessions in 2015 by Cameron Webb, and was one of the last songs the band recorded together.

Under Cöver will be available in 1CD (Digi pack), 1x 180 grams Black Vinyl in gatefold, Super Deluxe Boxset (1CD digipack, 1x 180 grams black vinyl and VIP guest pass), Digital Audio and MFiT Audio.

Select-A-Head Announce New Discounted Pricing And New Designs

Select-A-Head, LLC has announced a new reduced pricing for their popular 22” pieces of drum wall art. The new pricing comes just in time as the Seattle-based company has also established new partnerships with music and horror visionary Rob Zombie, acclaimed hard rock band Alter Bridge, metal juggernauts Mastodon and supergroup KXM. These partnerships will join the already impressive lineup of designs created for Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Godsmack and Queensrÿche to name a few. All designs are available at www.selectahead.com for the new low price of $115 + shipping. All Select-A-Head purchases come with a 100% satisfaction money-back guarantee.

On the heels of the company’s launch in winter 2014, Select-A-Head has been working tirelessly to refine the process these beautiful pieces of art are created. Now holders of the patent design, Select-A-Head, LLC looks to expand the line in various avenues. Aside from establishing numerous musical partnerships with more to be announced soon, they have already created designs for colleges such as Central Washington University, Gonzaga, Ohio State and others with new Universities being solicited all the time.

These unique displays were the creation of Seattle entrepreneur Steven Kenkman. He, alongside his brother, created the design that in some select instances come autographed by the artist when available. The process starts with a 22 inch 4 Ply drum shell wrapped in black PVC for durability; black die cast metal hoops; chrome lugs and claws with rubber gaskets to help prevent scratching and the images are printed on a high-quality matte finish. These designs have caught the attention of some of music’s biggest stars including Ray Luzier (Korn/KXM), Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Eddie Trunk and countless others.

Rainbow Bar and Grill Patio Dubbed “Lemmy’s Lounge” In Honor of Rock Icon

Rainbow Bar and Grill Patio Dubbed “Lemmy’s Lounge” In Honor of Rock Icon

lemmy-statue-lemmys-lounge

Heavy rock legends MOTÖRHEAD, in collaboration with West Hollywood’s famous Rainbow Bar and Grill on the Sunset Strip, have agreed to dedicate their patio to Lemmy Kilmister and re-name it ‘Lemmy’s Lounge’ in memory of rock’s greatest frontman. It is a fitting gesture from the Rainbow, as when Lemmy wasn’t touring or recording, the majority of his waking hours were spent on said-patio. There is already a life size bronze statue immortalizing Lemmy at The Rainbow, which attracts fans from all over the world, and Lemmy’s Lounge will allow hardcore fans and casual patrons alike to sample the wares and atmosphere that Lemmy loved so much.

To celebrate Lemmy’s Lounge, Roxy owner Nic Adler and Goldenvoice’s Paul Tollett have kindly agreed to allow the painting of a celebratory mural commemorating the life of Lemmy and MOTÖRHEAD on the side wall of the Roxy, opposite Lemmy’s Lounge and statue.

MOTÖRHEAD‘s management are seeking a local LA muralist painter that is interested in the opportunity to provide their services to paint this immortal artwork in celebration of our fallen hero’s life. Interested parties should fill the form at www.lemmyslounge.com to submit their resume.

The closing date for submissions is December 24, 2016.

“…And Justice For Art: Stories About Heavy Metal Album Covers” – Video Preview of New Book Available!

“…And Justice For Art: Stories About Heavy Metal Album Covers” – Video Preview of New Book Available!

and-justice-for-art-2015

A stunning video preview of…And Justice For Art: Stories About Heavy Metal Album Covers book has been released. Pre-orders for limited second edition are now available.

According to Morbid Angel’s legendary bassist/vocalist, David Vincent, the book …And Justice For Art: Stories About Heavy Metal Album Covers is set to become “a historical document about the importance of Metal album covers.” This volume is a one-of-a-kind collection of stories that recount for the first time, all the particulars behind the making of artworks as iconic as SLAYER’s “Reign In Blood”, MORBID ANGEL’s “Blessed Are The Sick”, METALLICA’s “…And Justice For All”, MOTORHEAD’s “Orgasmatron”,DEATH’s “Symbolic”,  ANTHRAX’s “Among The Living”, CARCASS’  “Heartwork”, TESTAMENT’s “Dark Roots Of Earth”, OPETH’s “Heritage”, AT THE GATES’“Slaughter Of The Soul,” VAN HALEN’s “1984” and many others.

Watch a detailed video preview of the book here:

The book is officially available on April 15. Amazingly, the pre-sales for the first edition sold out in less than 10 days. Because of this, author Ramon ‘Oscuro’ Martos (who writes for MetalUnderground.com, This Is Metal Magazine, and PureGrainAudio.com, etc.) and co-publisher, Dark Canvas, decided to launch a second edition of 300 additional copies that are now available for pre-order via Big Cartel at:  http://andjusticeforart.bigcartel.com/product/and-justice-for-art-stories-about-heavy-metal-album-covers

Martos spent more than three years researching and interviewing more than 100 established and underground Metal bands for the book as well as renowned visual artists like Travis Smith, Eliran Kantor, Paul Raymond Gregory, Arik Roper, and Joe Petagno, among others.

The book’s foreword was written by Morbid Angel’s David Vincent. It features more than 400 graphics (some of them never seen before) and 264 glossy, color pages. It was printed thanks to a successful Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign that Martos launched last year raising 236% of its original goal. And Justice For Art is also scheduled to be one of the main attractions of the Rock & Metal Gallery at the UK’s famous Bloodstock Open Air in August 2015.

Several personalities of the Metal scene have already given praises to the book. For example, Cattle Decapitation’s vocalist, Travis Ryan, affirmed that this volume is “exactly what the music world needs to remind us all just how important album covers have been to all of us that grew up surrounding ourselves with physical media.” Obituary’s drummer, Donald Tardy, declared: “I think this book will help to keep alive all these artworks.” In addition, While Heaven Wepts’s guitarist, Tom Phillips, commented that “And Justice For Art delves far deeper into the behind-the-scenes stories than any other art books that I’m aware of. I have no doubt it will become an important document for musicologists in years to come.”

For more details visit www.andjusticeforart.com. You can also visit the book’s official Facebook community or contact andjusticeforart@gmail.com.

RONNIE JAMES DIO: “This Is Your Life” Covers Album Celebrates His Life and Legacy

RONNIE JAMES DIO: “This Is Your Life” Covers Album Celebrates His Life and Legacy

ronnie-james-dio-2014

Ronnie James Dio is one of the most beloved figures in rock history. His gifts, both as a singer and songwriter, are instantly recognizable, whether he was with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, or leading Dio. Sadly, Dio lost his battle with stomach cancer in 2010, but his towering voice and legacy live on.

To celebrate one of rock’s most powerful voices, an all-star group of his friends and fans recorded 13 of their favorite tracks for a tribute album that will raise funds for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund (diocancerfund.org). Produced by his longtime manager and wife Wendy Dio, the album includes contributions by such metal heavyweights as MetallicaMotörheadScorpionsAnthrax, and Rob Halford, as well as appearances by many of the musicians who performed with Dioover the years.

This Is Your Life will be available from Rhino on April 1, 2014 for a suggested list price of $18.98. A digital version will also be available.

Although the songs featured on the album touch on the different eras of Dio’s career, several spotlight his time with Rainbow, including Metallica’s epic, nine-minute “Ronnie Rising Medley,” which combines the Rainbow songs “A Light In The Black,” “Tarot Woman,” “Stargazer,” and “Kill The King.” Scorpions add a scorching take on “The Temple Of The King” whileMotörhead is joined by Biff Byford from Saxon on “Starstruck.” Rob Halford teams with frequent Dio collaborators Vinny Appice, Doug Aldrich, Jeff Pilson, and Scott Warren for “The Man On The Silver Mountain.” The final line-up of Dio’s solo band – Simon Wright, Craig Goldy, Rudy Sarzo and Scott Warren – are joined by Glenn Hughes (Deep PurpleBlack Sabbath) for “Catch The Rainbow,” a track from Rainbow’s 1975 debut.

Anthrax and Adrenaline Mob honor Dio’s memorable stint with Black Sabbath with their takes on “Neon Knights” and “The Mob Rules” respectively, as does a group, led by Oni Logan on vocals along with Jimmy Bain, Rowan Robertson, and Brian Tichy, which performs “I” from Dehumanizer.

This Is Your Life also includes songs from Dio’s back-to-back platinum albums Holy Diver (1983) and The Last In Line (1984), with Doro’s take on “Egypt (The Chains Are On)”, Halestorm tackling “Straight Through The Heart,” Corey Taylor (Stone SourSlipknot) covering the classic “Rainbow In The Dark” and Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Glass) putting their signature spin on “The Last In Line.” Killswitch Engage’s cover of “Holy Diver,” a hit in its own right when released in 2006, is also included here.

Fittingly, Ronnie James Dio provides the finale (and the album’s title) with his moving performance of “This Is Your Life.” Originally released on Angry Machines (1996), the song’s lyrics explore mortality and are backed by a stark and beautiful arrangement that features Dio accompanied only by his longtime keyboardist Scott Warren on piano. The song serves as a poignant reminder that we will never hear a voice like Dio’s again.
