Earlier this year, Nu Image/Millennium Films had announced that Sylvester Stallone’s fifth Rambo film had been greenlit. Stallone was to return to the franchise to play the title character and direct the film. Stallone had previously hinted that the next Rambo adventure would see the hero take on a “slightly different genre.” The working title for the film was Rambo V: The Savage Hunt.
However, months later, it appears that Stallone has abandoned the previously announced project. In a recent interview, the legendary pop icon revealed the follow-up has stalled and he’s “99 per cent sure” the character won’t return.
He tells EmpireOnline.com, “I think Rambo’s pretty well done. I don’t think there’ll be any more. I’m about 99 per cent sure.
“I was going to do it… But for Rambo to go on another adventure might be, I think, misinterpreted as a mercenary gesture and not necessary. I don’t want that to happen. I’m very happy with the last Burmese episode, because I didn’t pull any punches on it. I wanted it to be what civil war really is – rough. You can’t candy coat it, and where do you go from there? So that’s (Rambo V) going to go.”

The article also reveals that Stallone is working on a director’s cut of Rambo which will restore twelve minutes to the film.

Here is what he had to say about the film:
Hi Craig,
This is from Sly to your followers:
To all the loyal SZoners out there,
I’m letting you know that Rambo has changed course and the story about hunting the man/beast will be done using another character in the lead. RAMBO himself will be heading over the border to a violent city where many young women have vanished.
There will be blood.
Best,
Sly Stallone
