The Lonely Island Announces Dates For First-Ever Multi-City Tour

The Lonely Island Announces Dates For First-Ever Multi-City Tour

The Grammy ® nominated and Emmy ® award-winning trio, THE LONELY ISLAND (Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone) today announced their first ever multi-city tour kicking off on June 15 at Bonnaroo Festival. Produced by Live Nation, the tour will make seven more stops in the U.S. this summer including Philadelphia, New York City, Boston and more, before wrapping June 29 in Minneapolis, MN.

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, March 1, at 10am local time at LiveNation.com. To ensure tickets get in to the hands of fans and not scalpers or bots, the tour has partnered with Ticketmaster’s Verified Fanâ platform. Fans can register now through Sunday, February 24, at 10pm PT HERE for the Verified Fan presale. Registered fans who receive a code will have access to purchase tickets before the general public from Tuesday, February 26, at 10am local time through Thursday, February 28, at 10pm local time.

The Lonely Island’s first major tour comes off the momentum of the group’s first ever live concert at last year’s Clusterfest in San Francisco. The headline performance was packed with special guests including Michael Bolton, T-Pain and Chris Parnell and was met with rave reviews:

The Lonely Island packed gloriously dumb jokes into a live concert that had its audience roaring with laughter,” said SFWEEKLY.com

“You’ve never really lived until you’ve seen the American classic ‘Jizz in My Pants’ live, which means the vast majority of the planet has never really lived,” said COMPLEX.com

And from The San Francisco Chronicle, “Many of the best moments of the night can’t be described easily, either because of the boundary-pushing adult content, or the creative stage work.”

In 2006 The New York Times credited The Lonely Island with helping usher in the digital era at SNL. The trio has since amassed over 6.8 million subscribers on YouTube and over 2.3 billion views on their YouTube channel. They have achieved multiple RIAA certified hits, including 2X Platinum single (“I’m On A Boat”), Platinum singles (“Jizz In My Pants”,  “I Just Had Sex”, “Everything is Awesome”) and Gold single (“Like A Boss”). Their singles “I’m On A Boat” and album “Turtleneck & Chain” were both nominated for Grammys. In 2014, the group co-wrote “Everything is Awesome,” the theme song to the Oscar® nominated film, The Lego Movie. The song was performed by Tegan ad Sara in collaboration with the trio. It was nominated for Best Original Song at the 2015 Oscars®. Most recently, The Lonely Island teamed up with Beck and Robyn for the song “Super Cool” for the number one film The Lego Movie 2.

‘Wayne’s World’ To Return Theaters For 25th Birthday Bash!

‘Wayne’s World’ To Return Theaters For 25th Birthday Bash!

2017 marks the 25th anniversary of ‘Wayne’s World’ and it’s time to celebrate! Paramount Pictures and Specticast have announced a birthday bash for the 90s classic in the for of a theatrical re-release. Directed by Penelope Spheeris and starring Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, the film originally hit theaters on February 14, 1992. The re-release of the film includes a theatrical exclusive special event with an introduction by Peter Travers (Rolling Stone Magazine and ABC-TV), and a videotaped chat with the director and cast members after the film.

For participating theaters and tickets, visit www.waynesworld25.com.

Synopsis: Based on the Saturday Night Live sketch of the same name, Wayne’s World is a wacky, irreverent pop-culture comedy about the adventures of two amiably aimless metal-head friends, Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey). From Wayne’s basement, the pair broadcast a talk-show called “Wayne’s World” on local public access television. The show comes to the attention of a sleazy network executive (Rob Lowe) who wants to produce a big-budget version of “Wayne’s World”-and he also wants Wayne’s girlfriend, a rock singer named Cassandra (Tia Carrere). Wayne and Garth have to battle the executive not only to save their show, but also Cassandra. Director Penelope Spheeris, Myers and Carvey hang a lot of silly, but funny, jokes on this thin plot, and the energy of the cast-as well as the wild pop-culture references-make Wayne’s World a cut above the average Saturday Night Live spin-off movie.

Review: ‘I Am Chris Farley’ Offers An Inside Look At The Making of A Comedic Force

Review: ‘I Am Chris Farley’ Offers An Inside Look At The Making of A Comedic Force

A must see documentary!

A must see documentary!

Although it has been almost 20 years since the untimely passing of “SNL’ star and unbridled comedic force known as Chris Farley. Even two decades removed, his star shines as brightly as ever. ‘I Am Chris Farley’ is the first feature-length documentary film focusing on the life of the “infuriatingly talented” star (to quote the great Loren Michaels). The documentary, directed by Brent Hodge, is a powerful and moving tribute to a legend from the people who knew him best.

The film serves as a long overdue love letter friends and family, who offer a heartbreakingly close look at Farley’s rise from troublemaking youth to comedy superstar. It’s a love letter that focuses on the amazing talent of an artist, the impression her left on those he impacted in his short time on Earth and the demons he struggled with along the way. ‘I Am Chris Farley’ features raw, emotionally charged interviews with those who knew him best. The interviews range from Kevin Farley, David Spade, Dan Aykroyd, Bob Odenkirk, Bob Saget, Christina Applegate, Adam Sandler, Molly Shannon, Bo Derek, Mike Myers and many more. Those emotional moments are perfectly balanced with sidesplittingly hilarious moments they shared during their time together.

In addition to the emotional interviews, the film intertwines photo from the comedians childhood and never-before-released footage shows Farley doing his famous physical comedy. One of the most notable aspects of the film is the inside look at how some of Farley’s most famous characters came to life. This revealing look into Farley’s past shows he was much more than just “the funny fat guy,” but rather a complex artist who would go to any length to keep the laughter going. In short, this masterfully crafted documentary provides a unique glimpse inside the life of a star who was taken from us far too soon.

‘I Am Chris Farley’ will premiere on Spike on August 10th and be released on VOD and DVD on August 11th.

Rob Schneider Releases “Soy Sauce and the Holocaust”

Rob Schneider Releases “Soy Sauce and the Holocaust”

Rob Scheider

Rob Scheider

The one and only Rob Schneider returns to stand up with Soy Sauce And The Holocaust. The digital album is available now via New Wave Dynamics.

In “Soy Sauce and the Holocaust” Rob Schneider takes on the biggest role of his life: a stand-up comedian, as he learns lessons about love and other cultures. He tells the side-splitting stories of the three hoods: childhood, adulthood, and parenthood. From closet farts to his sex life, Rob isn’t holding back any of the dirty details. Don’t miss this hilarious hour-long special that will leave you wondering how you lived before seeing this!

Actor, writer, comedian… The son of a real estate broker and kindergarten teacher, Schneider grew up in Pacifica and was the youngest of five children. His combination of self-deprecating humor and goofball antics earned him rave reviews, and he was soon opening for the likes of Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld. Schneider got his big break in 1990, when Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels hired him on as a writer for the show. Soon, he was performing his own material and was a cast regular until 1994 when he left to pursue his film career.

After a rocky start on the big screen, Schneider appeared in two successful Adam Sandler vehicles, “The Waterboy” (1998) and “Big Daddy” (1999). He then landed the lead role in “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,” as a fish tank cleaner who assumes the identity of a high-living gigolo. Adored by audiences and panned by critics, it prompted a second film, “The Animal,” which met with equal success in 2001.

Schneider made his directorial debut with “Big Stan” in 2007. The prison comedy starred Schneider and David Carradine. Reuniting with Adam Sandler, Schneider had a small role in “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan” (2008). He has completed several film projects, which are awaiting release. “The Chosen One” marks his second directorial effort, and he also co-wrote the script and stars in the film.

The Lumineers To Perform On Saturday Night Live On January 19th

TheLumineers-2013

Grammy-nominated band The Lumineers will be the musical guests on Saturday Night Live on January 19, hosted by Jennifer Lawrence.

The band’s Grammy-nominated self-titled debut album (nominated for Best New Artist and Best Americana Album) continues to gain momentum on the charts, finally cracking the Billboard Top 10 last week with over 61,000 copies sold. The album has sold almost 700,000 copies since its release last April by Dualtone, almost always selling more records each week than the previous week.

The album is anchored by the band’s popular first single “Ho Hey” which has just gone double-platinum, and is quickly moving towards triple platinum with the band selling over 300,000 copies last week alone with a running total of nearly 2,400,000 copies sold. This accomplishment comes only weeks after the song went platinum, which was just over 6 months in the making, with the band selling on average 50 thousand copies of the song every week since its release.

The Lumineers are the first independent label artist to have a debut single reach #1 at three separate formats–Triple A, Alternative & Hot AC. “Ho Hey” spent eight weeks at #1 at Triple A radio and two weeks at #1 at Alternative Radio. The song is currently #1 on Billboard’s Rock Chart and #4 on the Hot 100. The debut album and “Ho Hey” were both #1 at Spotify for some time in December, and are currently sitting at #2 on the music streaming service.

The band’s second single “Stubborn Love” is following in the footsteps of its predecessor. “Stubborn Love” is currently sitting at #1 at AAA Radio, and is Top 20 at Alternative radio.

Rob Riggle Discusses His Comedic Roots & Upcoming Projects!

Rob Riggle Discusses His Comedic Roots & Upcoming Projects!

There is no question that Rob Riggle is one of the hardest working and funniest men in show business. Even if the name doesn’t ring a bell, chances are that you have already seen his side-splittingly funny work! His journey into the entertainment industry is far from conventional. One one thinks of the United States Marine Corps, comedy isn’t something that necessarily springs to mind but that is where Riggle’s amazing journey began. He guaranteed flight contract with the Marines and was just months away from receiving his “wings” when he decided he had another calling besides flying. After fulfilling his contract, Riggle immersed himself in the world of sketch comedy. This new path would lead to him tackling Improv comedy in New York and Los Angeles for the last 12 years as part of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. With stints on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Upright Citizens Brigade and Saturday Night Live, Riggle quickly branched out and landed roles in a slew of hit comedies such as ‘Talladega Nights,’ ‘Step Brothers,’ and ‘The Hangover.’ With a plethora of exciting new projects on the way in the coming months, Rob Riggle’s career as one of Hollywood’s brightest comedic stars is switching into high gear! Jason Price of Icon Vs. Icon recently caught up with Rob Riggle to discuss his roots, his role as commentator for the AXE Dirtcathalon, his writing process and upcoming projects!

What drew you to comedy initially and made you throw caution to the wind and take a shot at it professionally?

I was a theater and film major in college. I was voted “Most Humorous” in my Senior Class in high school, I always just had a passion for comedy and acting. I ended up in the Marines and I was flying planes for them and they were about to pin my wings on me and make it official and I realized that I really wanted to try comedy and acting before I died! [laughs] I knew that if I pinned those wings on that they would own me for eight years and I would probably, in all likelihood, would never get to it. So I stopped flying for the Marines and they made me a ground officer. From there I went and pursued comedy and acting at night until I was able to do it full time.

How does the Marine Corps prepare one for standup comedy?

For standup, it prepares you by giving you a thick skin. However, I don’t think anything truly prepares you for standup comedy! [laughs] I have been in four combat zones, five actually, and the heart rate and adrenaline flow is probably equal to anything that I experienced over there! [laughs] It is a totally different type of fear!

Who or what are some of the influences that helped fuel you creatively early on?

I remember seeing as a young man, probably to young to be watching it, Eddie Murphy’s ‘Delirious’. That was a huge influence, along with Eddie Murphy’s ‘Raw’. I remember thinking that it was just amazing! I loved his storytelling. Bill Murray is another guy who had a huge impact on me. Ya know, I love every comedian out there. I love them all! I think that everybody brings something to the table.

How do you go about crafting your act? Can you tell us a little bit about your process?

You know, what I usual do is come up with some premises and then I get on stage and I will work it out there. I mean, I will come up with some stuff beforehand but a lot of what gets written gets written on stage. You kinda find it when you are in the moment. I came up doing improv at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade, so my first seven years where all improv, sketch, long form improv, writing and that kind of stuff. I didn’t start standup until much later — only about three years ago really. But also what I do is tell stories in the vain of what Bill Cosby and Eddie Murphy did in ‘Delirious’ and ‘Himself’. They just kinda told they stories and along the way you got to meet characters and there was fun and a lot of jokes. so it is not three jokes per minute. It’s not set up, punch, set up, punch, set up punch, it is more or a story. These are my personal stories, so that is where it comes from.

You recently had a partnership with AXE and I know that you did play by play analysis for the Axe Dirtcathlon. What can you tell us about that project?

Well, AXE was basically relaunching their brand. They came up with this idea for a web series and they asked me to host it, so I said “YEAH!” That is the topline! What it is really is half reality game show with me as a host. You have these sexy young couples that are competing against each other in these ridiculous events that they came up with to get the dirty. The slogan is “The cleaner you are, the dirtier you get!” The winner gets to go to Spain and take part in that Tomato festival where they throw tomatoes at each other all day! [laughs] If you go to www.axedirtcathlon.com right now, you can find out who the winner is because the final episode is up and running!

What advice do you have for anyone who is looking to pursue a career in stand-up or the entertainment industry?

You gotta have fortitude! [laughs] You are gonna here “No!” a lot! And if you are going into standup, you’re going to bomb! I know that everybody says that but when you do bomb it sucks! And it hurts! And it hurts for days! But you have to get out there and do it again and again! Eventually, you will get much better and you will find your voice. Basically, you have to stay with it. If you think that you are going to get into show business and have success quickly, that is the exception and not the rule. The rule is that it is ten years to make an overnight success.

What else is in store for you for 2011? Anything we should be on the lookout for in the coming months?

Well, there is a movie coming out on July 1st, 2011 called ‘Larry Crowne’. That stars Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts and I have a small part in that film. I am shooting a film right now in New Orleans called ’21 Jumpstreet’ that is going to come out next year and that stars Jonah Hill. I shot a movie called ‘Everybody Loves Whales’ which is more of a “feel good” movie but it has Kristen Bell, John Krasinski and Drew Barrymore. There are a couple of other things out there waiting for me but I can’t say anything about them right now, we will have to see how they unfold! We have a couple of irons on the fire and hopefully those things will work out!

Have you given any thought to writing a book that chronicles your adventures through the years? If so, what would you call it?

Ohhhhh!!! [laughs] I have not thought about that! [laughs] But if I did, what would I call it? How about ‘Don’t Steal This Book! PAY FOR IT!’ [laughs]

Well, that is a good place to start! [laughs] Thank you very much for your time today, Rob! We look forward to everything that you have in store for us!

Thank You!
