OFF THE TOP ROPE: Our Prediction For WWE’s Money In The Bank 2016!

WWE-MITB-2016-1

This is one of my favorite WWE PPVs each year, so I have high hopes for this one. I love the intrigue of choosing a winner for the Money in the Bank match. Will the person be an obvious choice, or a dark horse? The winner of the money in the bank match almost always wins the championship upon cashing in the contract; only John Cena and Damien Sandow have failed in this endeavor. In addition to the money in the bank match, there are a few other interesting matchups that excite me. So, here goes for another round of predictions!

WWE-MITB-2016-4

Fatal Four War for the Tag Team Championship
The New Day (c) v. The Vaudevillains v. Enzo and Cass v. Anderson and Gallows

This will be a barn burned of a match, to be sure. All four teams are pretty hot right now. Anderson and Gallows are fairly new on the scene and are in AJ Styles’ “club”, so they’d seem to be a popular choice here. Both the Vaudevillains and Enzo and Cass are strong teams, but both are still too new to the main roster and just like Anderson and Gallows, need time to develop more so that they could carry the tag belts and represent the WWE well. The New Day should take this one in a close match with a lot of near finishes. The belts will remain on them until the other teams are sufficiently developed for WWE PPV and TV.

Winners: The Rockers (Just Kidding. Anderson and Gallows)

WWE-MITB-2016-9

Money in the Bank Match
Sami Zayn v Kevin Owens v Alberto Del Rio v Cesaro v Chris Jericho v Dean Ambrose

Just look at the amazing talent pool in this one! I’d love to see Jericho win, but that’s not going to happen. What would be the point? All are talented performers who have held championships wherever they have gone. I’m wondering how many high spots will be in this match! Too many to count, as bodies will no doubt be flying all over the arena. Will Cesaro use his Cesaro swing to put Del Rio into a ladder? Will Sami Zayn hit the Blue Thunderbomb on Owens? The possibilities are endless in this contest. This one is a crapshoot and I’m picking the winner based upon not current storylines, but by being the wrestler who could be the most successful over the next few years.

Winner: Kevin Owens

WWE-MITB-2016-6

John Cena v AJ Styles

This match is going to, I hope, be the best one of the night. Both men are “big game” wrestlers, psyching themselves up for the biggest occasions. Each performer will hit his entire battery of signature moves, with possibly the Styles Clash being disallowed. This match will have far too many near falls to count. This match will also have near submissions, as both competitors have a repertoire of submission holds which they can use effectively. Cena has come back as hot as anyone has been, and the Phenomenal One, Mr. Styles, could use a bit of a boost in the win column and will be motivated. Also not sure who to pick in this one. I’ll go with Styles because I think that there is no reason to elevate Cena back to his old main event spot when Styles is wrestling superior matches and has the fans’ attention as much as he does.

Winner: AJ Styles

WWE-MITB-2016-2

WWE title match
Roman Reigns (c) v Seth Rollins

I can’t wait for this one! Even though Rollins will not get the belt back in this one, he will shine brightly, reminding fans just how good he is. This will be a brutal fight, and I’d bet that a good bit of this match will take place outside of the ring. Will the Spanish announce table break at some point? You betcha. Both mean will, during the match, experience near defeat, and there may even be some bloodshed. Not a lot of technical wrestling will be a part of this match. I also can’t see a clean ending here, as WWE should, and will, milk this feud for all its worth.

Winner: No winner. Double disqualification.

WWE-MITB-2016-3

US title match
Rusev (c) v Titus O’Neil

The king of the Moscow Mooseknuckle will retain his belt in this one. The crowd will likely be dead for this one, which is unfortunate, given the talent that both men possess. I would actually buy Big Titus as a world champion in the future; he’s got the look of a champion and is very athletic. That being said, the Rusev/Lana combination has been hot as of late, and Rusev’s nearly unbeatable submission hold, the Accolade (a variation on the Camel Clutch, Rusev will break your back and make you humble), will be too much for my boy Titus to overcome.

Winner: Rusev

WWE-MITB-2016-8

Charlotte and Dana Brooke v Natalya and Becky Lynch

Man, Becky Lynch sure gets screwed on a regular basis. She is highly talented, perhaps the most talented female performer not named Sasha Banks. However, Ms. Lynch should get a bit of much deserved spotlight in this one. Charlotte and Dana Brooke have been a formidable heel combo as of late; fans (myself included) love to hate them. Natalya and Becky Lynch are also talented, hard workers who will take the fight to their opponents. I think Dana Brooke makes a mistake and loses the match for her team.

Winners: Natalya and Becky Lynch

WWE-MITB-2016-7

Apollo Crews v Sheamus
I’m intrigued by this one. It will be hard hitting and brutal, but both men possess technical wrestling ability, and I can only hope that it will be on display this Sunday. Apollo is a highly talented, recent NXT callup to the main roster, and deserves to have the same success on the main roster as he did on NXT. However, he will have a tough time against former world champion Sheamus. Will Crews fall victim to Sheamus’ brogue kick? I don’t think so.

Winner: Apollo Crews

WWE-MITB-2016-5

Money in the Bank Kickoff Show
Dolph Ziggler v Baron Corbin
I have been entertained by this feud. While Corbin was initially ahead in this feud, I think Ziggler has gotten into Baron’s head. This is supposed to be a true “wrestling” match, but I think it will turn into a brawl in a rather quick manner. Will the youth of Corbin prevail, or will Ziggler’s experience as a former world and intercontinental champion reign supreme? One way of the other, this will be a fast paced match.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Parting Shot: This is shaping up to be a great show, and I hope I’m not disappointed as I have been by the last few PPVs. I had a tough time deciding on predictions for the matches, as none of the matches had a clear cut, easily decided winner for me. Here’s hoping that me predicting record improves after this one! – Duke Love

Don’t miss this epic showdown on WWE Money in the Bank, live on WWE Network, on Sunday, June 19, at 8 ET/5 PT.

A week-long celebration, WrestleMania has generated more than $200 million in cumulative economic impact for its past four host regions. The 2013 event will mark WrestleMania’s fifth trip to the metropolitan area with past visits in 1985, 1986, 1994, and 2004.
