Slayer’s Premieres Video For “Pride In Prejudice” To Complete ‘Relentless’ Trilogy

slayer-pride-2016-1

With the premiere of “Pride in Prejudice,” Slayer completes the Repentless music video trilogy. Check out the video below.

The first video, “Repentless,” was released 9/11/15 and has accumulated more than 9.8 million views to date. It introduced us to Wyatt, the eyepatched rebel inmate (Jason Trost/”Hatchet III”), and a host of nefarious prisoners played by some of today’s most iconic horror film actors including Danny Trejo/”Machete,” “From Dusk Till Dawn”, Tony Moran/”Halloween’s” Michael Myers, “American Poltergeist,” Derek Mears/”Predators,” “Friday the 13th,” Tyler Mane/”Halloween,” Sean Whalen/”Men In Black,” “Halloween II,” and Vernon Wells/”Mad Max 2,” “Commando,” “Weird Science.” “Repentless” was shot at the Sybil Brand Institute in East Los Angeles and has Slayer performing the song in the prison yard while a riot breaks out, blood flowing in abundance, inmates and prison guards brutally slaughtered.

From the very first frame, “You Against You,” the gore, the violence, the carnage begins and just never ends. While the second video in the trilogy, it is the prequel to “Repentless,” telling the story of the circumstances that led to Wyatt’s erroneous arrest and imprisonment. Slayer’s performance for “You Against You” was shot at a graveyard of jets, airliners and helicopters in California’s Mojave Desert.
“You Against You” premiered 3/16/16 and has accumulated more than 4.8 million YouTube views.

The “Repentless” video trilogy was conceived and directed by BJ McDonnell who directed the 2013 horror film “Hatchett III.” His rich resume as a motion picture cameraman includes “Jack Reacher,” “Tomorrowland” and “The Interview,” and just wrapped filming for the upcoming “Annabelle 2.”

slayer-2016-1

In September 2015, Slayer released Repentless, the band’s 12th studio album, the first without founding member Jeff Hanneman and first with producer Terry Date, to widespread rave reviews and the highest chart debut of the band’s career. The band – Tom Araya/vocals & bass, Kerry King/guitars, Paul Bostaph/drums and Exodus/Slayer touring guitarist Gary Holt – has toured near-non-stop since the album’s release, and heads out on the road starting September 9 with a seven-week North American trek with Anthrax and Death Angel. This fall, Dark Horse Comics will publish a three-issue comic book series based on McDonnell’s original concept for the “Repentless” video trilogy and written by Jon Schnepp. In addition, October will see the release of Slayer’s “Cradle To Grave” BMX Bikes/Subrosa four-bike collection. Comprised of the Slayer Balance, Slayer 20, Slayer 26 and the Slayer Urban Terrain Bike, all are intended for BMX riders to “use and abuse.”‘

Pride and Prejudice: A convicted prisoner on death row…a cookie-cutter, white-bread family unit putting up the Christmas decorations… two worlds, lightness and darkness colliding…white supremacists…ruthless murders…Slayer’s “Pride in Prejudice” music video.

Here’s the breakdown on the video:

Directed by BJ McDonnell
Produced by Felissa Rose
Edited by Ed Marx and Andrea Porter
Director of Photography – Eric Leach
Tony Gardner/Alterian FX for Special FX Makeup
Jason Trost (“Hatchet III”) – Wyatt
Danny Trejo (“Machete,” “From Dusk Til Dawn”)
Bill Moseley – the Dad (“House of 1000 Corpses,” “The Devil’s Rejects”)
Caroline Williams – the Mom (“Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens”, “Hatchett III”)
Richard Speight, Jr. – returning as the ultimate Bad Guy (“CSI,” “Jericho,” “Supernatural”)
Filmed during the winter of 2016 in the mountains of Wrightwood, CA

“I’m particularly excited about this third video,” said McDonnell, “because we played with stylistic differences with the trilogy. Where one video plays like an action film, this third one is more of a dramatic piece. The final story takes us into a world that is especially sinister in tone, with the dark and the light colliding. The conclusion is visually cinematic and harsh, with Slayer conducting us through it all with ‘Pride In Prejudice.'”

“It was a pleasure working with BJ on this project,” said Slayer’s Kerry King. “Slayer is notorious for letting the artist be the artist, the producer be the producer, and the director be the director, etc. By doing this we get a completely unique perspective that never really strays far from our own. Get ready for video three. It’s my favorite!!”

WORLDS COLLIDE: Ozzfest and Knotfest Join Forces For Mind-Blowing Double Header

WORLDS COLLIDE: Ozzfest and Knotfest Join Forces For Mind-Blowing Double Header

ozzfest-meets-knotfest-2016

Worlds have truly collided as the legendary Ozzfest and Knotfest have joined forces…the ultimate meeting of metal minds…a double-header music and lifestyle weekend like no other on the planet.

This merger of two of the most well-known and established brands in rock–OZZFEST, celebrating its 20th anniversary, and KNOTFEST, which debuted in 2012–is set for Saturday, September 24 (OZZFEST) and Sunday, September 25 (KNOTFEST) at San Manuel Amphitheater and Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, CA. Tickets for the Live Nation-produced OZZFEST MEETS KNOTFEST–a multi-stage, two-day weekend camping event with more than 40 acts–go on sale Friday, May 20 at 10:00 AM (PT) at OZZFEST.COM and KNOTFEST.COM. All the details and line-ups (below) were revealed at a major press conference today (Thursday, May 12) at the Palladium in Hollywood, CA.

Saturday’s OZZFEST will be headlined by Black Sabbath–marking their last Southern California performance as part of the band’s final tour–and Sunday’s KNOTFEST bill is topped by the festival’s namesake, Slipknot. On hand at the press conference were OZZFEST founder Ozzy Osbourne and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and M. Shawn Crahan (aka Clown). The event began with a movie screening, followed by a Q&A session with artists from the OZZFEST MEETS KNOTFEST bill and concluded with a p
erformance from Zakk Sabbath, led by Zakk Wylde.

“We are here to create havoc and history,” says Ozzy Osbourne. “Let the madness begin…”

“This could be the one of the coolest things I’ve ever been a part of,” says Corey Taylor of Slipknot. “Starting out as an Ozzfest band, coming into our own with Knotfest and now combining forces to make a little metal history…it was meant to be and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

“Playing with Black Sabbath is always an honor,”Shawn “Clown” Crahan of Slipknot exclaims. “Merging both festivals will be a legendary experience that will be life-changing for all fans. We are excited to bring all the families together again.”

“We want it to be the loudest, biggest, dirtiest festival in California. We couldn’t be happier,” says Sharon Osbourne.

“The impact of Ozzfest on heavy music and on Slipknot, cannot be underestimated,” says Cory Brennan, President, 5B Artist Management. “For 20 years Ozzfest has given fans their first glimpse at bands like Slipknot, Disturbed and countless others, but also bringing new fans and bands together every year. Ozzfest inspired Slipknot to continue this vital tradition with Knotfest, and it’s an honor to celebrate our genre alongside them in 2016.”

The San Manuel Amphitheater and Festival Grounds is where OZZFEST–the event that launched the U.S. hard rock festival market and went on to tour the world–began in 1996 and where KNOTFEST last year took over the San Bernardino, CA venue and expanded into a camping festival. There’s also a longtime history between the two namesakes of the events, with Slipknot appearing at OZZFEST in 1999, 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2013 at the inaugural OZZFEST Japan.

The OZZFEST MEETS KNOTFEST 2016 line-up is as follows, with both OZZFEST and KNOTFEST dedicating a stage in honor of their departed comrade Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead.

slayertour-2016

Twenty-fifteen has proven to be a pretty darned good year for Slayer.  Ignoring the odds and naysayers, the band – Kerry King/guitars, Tom Araya/bass, vocals, Paul Bostaph/drums, and touring guitarist Gary Holt – wrote, recorded and released its first album since the death of founding member, guitarist Jeff Hanneman, and first with producer Terry Date.  Slayer proved the doubters wrong with an album that SPIN called “as unrelenting as all of their previous,” Rolling Stone described as “…lean, quick, precise and brutal…” Loudwire deemed “…a potent release that is undeniably Slayer…” and Guitar World simply declared “The Metal Album of the Year.”  Repentless sounds like a Slayer album…a sonic assault of brutal, ominous, lightening-fast and heavy-as-hell music, with lyrics that unmask what Slayer knows best – the terror, the corruption and the societal turmoil that dominates our world.  As a member of The Big Four, Slayer didn’t just help define the thrash-metal genre, Slayer defines an attitude.

For this upcoming tour, fans can expect to hear many of their favorite Slayer songs selected from the band’s 30-plus year discography, as well as a few of the brand new ones.  As the Austin Chronicle put it about one of Slayer’s recent shows, “[It was] one hundred minutes of just plain pummel…the group delivered fast, hard, no-frills bludgeon.”

With more dates to be announced, the first leg of Slayer’s 2016 North American tour is as follows:

FEBRUARY
19 – Riviera Theatre, Chicago, IL
22 – War Memorial, Nashville, TN
24 – The National, Richmond, VA
26 – House of Blues, Myrtle Beach, SC
27 – The Ritz, Raleigh, NC
29 – The Fillmore, Charlotte, NC

MARCH
2 – Capitol Theatre, Port Chester, NY
3 – The Fillmore, Philadelphia, PA
5 – The Fillmore, Silver Spring, MD
6 – The House of Blues, Boston, MA
8 – LC Pavilion, Columbus, OH
9 – The Orpheum, Madison, WI
11 – Myth, St. Paul, MN
12 – Civic Auditorium, Fargo, ND
14 – MacEwan Hall, Calgary, AB
15 – Shaw Centre, Edmonton, AB
17 – Revolution Event Center, Boise, ID
19 – The Paramount, Seattle, WA
20 – Roseland Ballroom, Portland, OR
22 – Warfield Theatre, San Francisco, CA
26 – The Joint, Las Vegas, NV

ABOUT SLAYER:
For more than three decades, Slayer’s onslaught has proven the band to be the supreme thrash-metal band on the planet, the band that other heavy acts are measured against and aspire to. The two-time Grammy-winners have also accumulated an abundance of certified Gold Albums along with “Best…” awards from media outlets all over the world, including Kerrang!SPINMetal HammerRevolver, and Esquire.  Throughout Slayer’s history, the band has never faltered in unleashing its extreme and focused sonic assault, and, unlike many of its contemporaries who “commercialized” their sound, Slayer has remained crushing and brutal, steadfastly refusing to cater to the mainstream.  Slayer’s founding member, guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed in 2013, and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has been filling in for him since.  Paul Bostaph, who was Slayer’s drummer from ’94 – ’01, has rejoined bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King, and is back behind the kit.

On 9-11-15, Slayer released Repentless, its first studio album without Hanneman.  For the album’s first music video, the title track, Slayer worked with cameraman/director BJ McDonnell (“Jack Reacher,” “Tomorrowland,” “The Interview”).  McDonnell, who directed the video, and producer Felissa Rose texted some of their friends who just happened to be some of most recognizable horror actors working today, including Tyler Mane, Danny Trejo and Derek Mears.  All big Slayer fans, all showed up to play cameo rolls in the brutal prison-set clip.  The video has received more than seven-million views on Slayer’s social sites.

Slayer Unleash 12th Studio Album And Unveil “Repentless” Video

Slayer Unleash 12th Studio Album And Unveil “Repentless” Video

Slayer-2013_lo

Today, September 11, 2015, Slayer’s long-awaited 12th studio album Repentless (Nuclear Blast), is released and available to fans.  Launching with glowing early reviews – “Metal Album of the Year” (Guitar World), “Slayer continues to reign” (Kerrang!), “as unrelenting as all of their 11 previous” (SPIN), “the sound of Slayer telling you that it still recognizes its essence” (New York Times), and “a potent release that is undeniably Slayer” (Loudwire), the band is showing they are, as the British daily The Guardian put it, “still the masters of this stuff.”

Slayer's 'Repentless'

Slayer’s ‘Repentless’

The first music video from Repentless, the title track, also makes its global premiere today at Rolling Stone ( http://rol.st/1K1Id21 )  The video was shot late last month at the Sybil Brand Institute in East Los Angeles and is a grizzly depiction of what the Kerry King-created word means: to feel no regret or remorse.  Slayer performed the song in the prison yard while a riot broke out, blood flowed in abundance, and inmates and prison guards were slaughtered.  Directed by BJ McDonnell and produced by Felissa Rose, the video features cameos by actors who have been part of some of the most iconic horror films ever made:  Danny Trejo (“Machete,” “From Dusk Till Dawn”), Tony Moran (“Halloween’s” Michael Myers, “American Poltergeist”), Derek Mears (“Predators,” “Friday the 13th”) Tyler Mane (“Halloween”) Jason Trost (“Hatchet III”),  Sean Whalen (“Men In Black,” “Halloween II”), and Vernon Wells (“Mad Max 2,” “Commando,” “Weird Science”).

This is McDonnell’s first stint directing a music video.  He directed the 2013 horror film “Hatchet III,” and his rich resume as a motion picture cameraman includes “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Ant-Man” and “The Interview.”  For the “Repentless” video, McDonnell and Rose brought in stunt coordinator Nils Allen Stewart who is known for his work on films like “Planet of The Apes,” “Anger Management” and “Daredevil.”

Repentless was produced and mixed by Terry Date and recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles.  The album is Slayer’s first release since 2009’s World Painted Blood, and features band members Tom Araya (vocals/bass), Kerry King (guitars), Paul Bostaph (drums), and Exodus/Slayer touring guitarist Gary Holt.

Greg Prato Releases ‘Survival of the Fittest: Heavy Metal in the 1990’s’

Greg Prato Releases ‘Survival of the Fittest: Heavy Metal in the 1990’s’

Another epic read from Greg Prato

Another epic read from Greg Prato

Since its inception in the late 1960’s, heavy metal has experienced quite a few ups and downs in popularity. But there was one specific decade that sticks out as the most troubling – the 1990’s. In what seemed like one fell swoop, a style of metal that had been popular for much of the 1980’s was rendered obsolete, and in its place, was a much more real, raw, and unique approach – detected in several new metal-based “sub-genres.” Add to it several changes in the music industry and media, and it appeared as if traditional metal may have met its expiration date…before several bands (and a certain traveling festival tour) helped put headbanging rock back on track.

Written by journalist/author Greg Prato, ‘Survival of the Fittest: Heavy Metal in the 1990’s’ is the first book to focus entirely on this decade. Set in an oral history format, ‘Survival’ features over 80 interviews conducted exclusively for this book, including current or past members of Pantera, Sepultura, Fear Factory, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Def Leppard, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Exodus, Testament, Dream Theater, King’s X, Extreme, Winger, Cinderella, Living Colour, Faith No More, Primus, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie, Stone Temple Pilots, Kyuss, Danzig, Clutch, Life of Agony, Biohazard, Type O Negative, Within Temptation, Cradle of Filth, Death, Coal Chamber, and System of a Down (among many others), as well as Eddie Trunk, Riki Rachtman, and Lonn Friend. Also featured is a foreword penned by Pantera bassist Rex Brown.

Greg Prato is a Long Island, New York-based journalist, who has written for Rolling Stone and Guitar Player, and has authored such books as ‘Iron Maiden: ’80 ’81,’ ‘The Faith No More & Mr. Bungle Companion,’ ‘The Eric Carr Story,’ and ‘Grunge is Dead: The Oral History of Seattle Rock Music.’ ‘Survival of the Fittest’ is his 16th book overall.

Available as a paperback version [616 pages, $24.99], a Kindle download [$9.99], and a Nook download [$9.99], ‘Survival of the Fittest’ helps put the ’90s and heavy metal all into perspective.

SLAYER Announces “Repentless Eagle Edition” For Forthcoming Album

SLAYER Announces “Repentless Eagle Edition” For Forthcoming Album

slayer-repentless-metal-eagle-2015

With the title and release date just announced for Slayer’s Repentless, due out September 11, 2015 (Nuclear Blast), today the thrash icons announce their heaviest release ever – literally – Repentless, Metal Eagle Edition.  Made of aluminum alloy, measuring 15″ X 17″ X 3″ and weighing in at a hefty seven pounds, the Metal Eagle Edition will house a deluxe digipak of the new Repentless CD plus exclusive bonus content to be detailed soon.  The limited (only 3000 copies worldwide) and numbered Metal Eagle Edition will be a direct-to-consumer item and available exclusively via the Nuclear Blast mail-order online stores.  Pre-orders are available now, so log onto http://nblast.de/SlayerRepentlessEagle for purchasing info.

The highly-anticipated Repentless is Slayer’s 11th studio album, the first since 2009’s critically-acclaimed, Grammy-nominated World Painted Blood and the first with producer Terry Date (Pantera, Slipknot, Soundgarden). The band – Tom Araya/bass, vocals, Kerry King/guitar, Paul Bostaph/drums, and Exodus/Slayer touring guitarist Gary Holt, who recorded lead guitar parts for about a half-dozen of the album’s new tracks – started recording Repentless in March 2014, and made the track “Implode” available as a free download in April of that year.  The band and Date continued to record between September 2014 and mid-January 2015 at Henson Studios in Los Angeles.  For the album, “Implode” was completely re-recorded from the ground up, and “When The Stillness Comes,” used as an instrumental track in a Scion commercial, got a revamped intro and all new vocals.

Repentless also includes “Piano Wire,” an unfinished song from the World Painted Blood sessions written by Hanneman.  About the track, Rolling Stone wrote that it “…begins with an eerie guitar line before evolving into a full-on-doom (and classic Slayer) riff onslaught…”  King put it this way:  “When I hear it, I think ‘Jeff.’  It sounds like a Jeff Hanneman song.”

The 12-track Repentless is, according to those who have heard it, a sonic assault of brutal, ominous, lightening-fast and heavy-as-hell music with lyrics that unmask what Slayer knows best – the terror, the corruption and the societal turmoil that dominates our world.

“The new album sounds like Slayer,” said Araya.  “In the past, our fans have always known what to expect, this time they don’t.  But we really like it, and I don’t think the fans are going to be disappointed.”

As is expected from Slayer, the band will support the release of Repentless with extensive touring across the globe, beginning this summer when the band headlines the Mayhem Festival.  That tour kicks off June 26 at Sleep Train Amphitheater in San Diego, CA.  The complete routing is below.

Meet This Year’s ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL Bands!

ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAIN STAGE:

Slayer
The Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot wrote that the five-time-nominated, two-time Grammy winning Slayer is “one of the great American rock bands of the last 30 years, forget about genre.” Their membership in “The Big Four” – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax – the four bands that defined the thrash/metal genre – secures their place in music history. Indeed, few bands come close to matching the intensity that Slayer brings to its live shows, having been named “Best Live Band” by numerous media outlets including Revolver, SPIN, and Metal Hammer. With songs that mirror the turmoil and aberrations of our society – God’s terrifying global genocide, the chaos of our broken political system, chemical warfare, the hideous minds of serial killers, and the way-too-close proximity of world horrors that technology has brought us, Slayer remains crushing and brutal, steadfastly refusing to cater to the Mainstream. Slayer’s founding member, guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed in 2013, and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has been filling in since. Paul Bostaph, who was Slayer’s drummer from ’94 – ’01, has rejoined bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King, and is back behind the kit. Slayer is currently in the studio recording a new album set for a 2015 release.

King Diamond
King Diamond’s Dreams of Horror double album was released in November of 2014 and is the only best-of compiled and approved by the band. The tracks were remastered and enhanced by Andy LaRocque and King Diamond himself. Give Me Your Soul…Please, King Diamond’s 2007 full-length, was nominated for a “best metal performance” Grammy Award!

HELLYEAH
HELLYEAH is comprised of Chad Gray (Mudvayne), Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Damageplan), Tom Maxwell (Nothingface), Kyle Sanders (Bloodsimple) and Christian Brady (Magna-Fi). Their current album, BLOOD FOR BLOOD, is a welcome return to form. It leaves a mark, thanks to songs like the angular, vengeful “DMF,” a song birthed by the sort of anger that can’t be faked; it will leave you wondering who pissed these guys off. “Gift” is dirty, rowdy rock with equal parts groove and swagger, but also possessed of the sort of punk rock energy that would make Motorhead fans turns their heads. Then there is moodier, more contemplative fare like ” Moth” and “Hush” which connect on an emotional, cellular level, proving that you can be incredibly heavy in ways other than loud and fast. “Hush” is taking Rock radio by storm – among the most-added records in each of its first 3 weeks at theformat. The video for the track debuts upon this tour announce – see it at www.hellyeahband.com

The Devil Wears Prada
The Devil Wears Prada recently announced their return to Rise Records and their next release, a conceptual EP entitled Space, coming in summer 2015. Feed Her To The Sharks
Australian quintet, Feed Her To The Sharks, are out for blood and proved such with their 2015 Victory Records debut album, Fortitude, which was applauded by BLUNT Mag for “taking metalcore back to its riffy, growly roots”. Having conquered their own metal scene, performing on the 2013 Van’s Warped Tour Australia and constant touring since, this band is ready to unleash their dynamic, merciless live show onto the masses this summer in the States.

Code Orange
Code Orange’s I Am King was released in September of 2014 and debuted on the Billboard 200 at #29. The album quickly peaked at #10 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart and has gained rave reviews from music critics and fans alike. Watch Code Orange’s latest video, “Dreams in Inertia”, HERE.

THAT METAL SHOW: This Week’s Episode To Feature Kerry King, Zakk Wylde and Lzzy Hale!

THAT METAL SHOW: This Week’s Episode To Feature Kerry King, Zakk Wylde and Lzzy Hale!

TMS-lzzy-zakk-2015

Episode 8 of season 14 of VH1 Classic’s centerpiece in original programming “That Metal Show” is the heaviest show of the season as Kerry King of Slayer returns.  Kerry sits down with hosts Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson, and Jim Florentine to discuss the upcoming Slayer album, getting the rust off for the upcoming summer tour, and even reveals some information about material for another record exclusively on the show.

The second guest on the episode welcomes Lzzy Hale of Halestorm to the set for the first time. Lzzy appeared on the show last season via the Metal Modem and talks about the new Halestorm album. They recorded the new album in a church in Nashville all playing together live, something they have never done before.

The episode features the debut of Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society as the guest musician. Zakk has been asked to perform on “That Metal Show” every season and finally in season 14, he obliged. Zakk wowed the crowd with playing abilities while showcasing his new custom audio equipment, Wylde Audio. In a first for the show, Zakk played out the final segment of the show with an extended off-the-cuff solo arrangement.

One of the episode highlights comes in the “Stump The Trunk” segment this week. The audience questions Eddie again, but this time also comes under fire with questions from Zakk himself, Joe Hottinger from Halestorm, and even Ed’s own mother gets a stump in.  “Take It Or Leave It” returns this week with the hosts debating the recent announcement of Skid Row’s new singer and they offer up their favorite new releases in the “Pick Of The Week.” The “TMS Top 5” looks at the Top 5 Zakk Wylde Songs and tracks like “Miracle Man,” “No More Tears,” “In This River,” and “Stillborn” all find their way in to the discussion.

Fans can watch all previous episodes and other exclusive bonus clips at ThatMetalShow.VH1.com and on the new VH1 app as well as the new “That After Show” segment, which discusses the guests’ love of sports and the weirdest thing they have ever seen from the stage on tour.

Season 14 will mark the return of some notable faces in hard rock/heavy metal and contain a large group of first timers as well. Some Season 14 guests will include “That Metal Show” alumni Kirk Hammett, Michael Schenker, Ace Frehley, and Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot. This season will also first-time appearances for Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad and Andy Biersack of Black Veil Brides.

Known for having the best musicians in music perform each week on “That Metal Show,” Season 14 continues the trend. Mike Orlando of Adrenaline Mob is a TMS alum who will be making his TMS musical debut. TMS first timers will be Damon Johnson of Thin Lizzy/Black Star Riders, and Nita Strauss of Alice Cooper/The Iron Maidens. That-Metal-Show-2015-1

With Season 14 of “That Metal Show” already making history  (the Season 14 premiere was the second most watched Season Premiere in the history of the series) VH1 Classic’s centerpiece in original programming returns this week with an all new episode that welcomes Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed alongside John Bush and Joey Vera of Armored Saint. Jamey Jasta talks about the upcoming Hatebreed tour, the podcast he hosts, recounts how a recent tour they did with Black Label Society was one of the best he has ever done, and even gives a compilation CD to each member of the audience. John Bush and Joey Vera talk about their forthcoming seventh album Win Hands Down, their upcoming tour with Saxon and recall memories from their time in Anthrax.

The episode also features shred guitar maestro Michael Angelo Batio making his debut on “That Metal Show” as the guest musician. Michael amazes the crowd with his double neck, v-shaped guitar and demonstrates why he is one of the fastest guitar players on the planet. He also fills the hosts in on his upcoming career retrospective Shred Force 1: The Essential Michael Angelo Batio, which is slated for release next month. Jason Becker also checks in to the show via the “Metal Modem.” Through his interpreter he discusses working with David Lee Roth and how he developed a way to speak using his only his eyes through a computer. He also talks about his career and his ongoing love for guitar and music.

Jamey, John, and Joey candidly reveal their love of coffee and beer in the “Put It On The Table” segment. Eddie has a difficult time with “Stump The Trunk” this week with one lucky fan taking home a signature Michael Angelo Batio guitar from Dean guitars. “Take It Or Leave It” has the hosts discussing the recent surge of VIP experiences from artists at concerts, and the “TMS Top 5” tackles the Top 5 Replacement Members in Bands who weren’t singers. Notable musicians such as Kirk Hammett, Neil Peart, Adrian Smith, Jason Newsted, Zakk Wylde, and Gary Moore all become part of the discussion until the final 5 make it to the top of the board. The “Throwdown” pits the first two Dio era Black Sabbath albums against each other when Heaven And Hell goes up against Mob Rules.
