Ozzfest Meets Knofest Announces It’s Triumphant Return!

Ozzfest Meets Knofest Announces It’s Triumphant Return!

One of the biggest events in music, Ozzfest Meets Knofest, has announced it’s triumphant return. The events will be head on Saturday, November 4 (OZZFEST) and Sunday, November 5 (KNOTFEST) at Glen Helen Amphitheater And Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, CA. Special pre-fest kickoff Friday, November 3 for all ticketed campers. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 14 at 10:00 AM (PT) at OZZFEST.COM and KNOTFEST.COM. Early ticket prices range from $29.00 for a single day GA lawn ticket to $239.00 for two-day GA pit passes; a variety of VIP packages are also available for each day.

OZZY OSBOURNE:  “Last year’s show with Black Sabbath was just incredible and I’m thrilled to be coming back this year with Zakk, Tommy, Blasko and Adam to headline the 21st anniversary of Ozzfest.”

CLOWN:  “It’s that incredible time again where Ozzfest and Knotfest meet up to bring all music fans together for two days of Rock and Roll.  Let’s not forget the beautiful culture we are involved in and the history that is being written. Join the true passion of our concepts. I’ll see you there. Stay (sic).”

SHARON OSBOURNE:  “Ozzfest Meets Knotfest is coming back for another round.  Last year we had over 75,000 people attend and we have another great lineup this year with Ozzy’s first solo show in L.A. in more than six years.  This is not just another show…it’s Ozzfest Meets Knotfest!  And this year’s event means the world to me as we’ll be amongst friends like Prophets of Rage, Rob Zombie, Deftones, Marilyn Manson and Stone Sour…it’s going to be another amazing weekend.”

COREY TAYLOR: “Knotfest was never supposed to be exclusively about Slipknot. It was always about the things that fueled the spirit of Slipknot: music, art, passion, insanity, and the tribes that give it power. So it would make sense for Knotfest to carry on these ideas, even without Slipknot. Because these things are the gasoline of creativity, and there’s plenty to go around, with plenty of great bands, acts and things to see.  Teaming up again with Ozzfest means another weekend of the biggest, baddest, loudest and best. I hope you all will join us; it’s going to be (sic).”

The multi-stage, two-day weekend camping event will include more than 40 acts:

Ozzy Osbourne
Prophets of Rage
Children of Bodom
Orange Goblin

Iron Reagan
Night Demon
Thrown Into Exile

Rings of Saturn

Joey Jordison’s VIMIC Announces U.S. Shows And European Tour

Joey Jordison’s VIMIC Announces U.S. Shows And European Tour

Heavy metal fans around Europe now have something to look forward to as VIMIC prepares for their first ever world tour. Founded by metal god Joey Jordison (formerly of Slipknot),  VIMIC combines heavy guitar riffs with unearthly drums patterns that Jordison is known for.

When it came time to form the band, Jordison assembled a team of five extremely devoted, driven, and dedicated musicians: Kalen Chase [vocals], Jed Simon [guitar], Kyle Konkiel [bass], Matt Tarach [keyboards]. VIMIC is also excited to welcome new guitarist Steve Marshall to the band.

VIMIC‘s full-length debut  Open Your Omen – arriving early 2017 -signals the biggest triumph of Jordison’s illustrious career as it came to life in the face of his most trying time. Jordison was diagnosed with the often permanent neurological affliction Acute Transverse Myelitis. He spent three months in the hospital during 2012 and underwent intensive physical rehabilitation and training. Not only did he achieve a full recovery, but he reached a new level of proficiency behind the drums.

“The riffs, lyrics, and drums of Open Your Omen will tell you a lot,” Jordison admits. “I did this record when I was coming out of the Acute Transverse Myelitis condition. It’s literally what saved me and helped me get back to where I’m healthier than ever. These guys and this album pushed me to not only relearn how to walk, but how to play the drums again. Open Your Omen is the rebirth of the rest of my life.”

The story of VIMIC might seem somewhat familiar to fans of GRAMMY® Award-Winning Slipknot co-founder and heavy music luminary Joey Jordison.

In fact, it actually starts with a group of extremely devoted, driven, and dedicated musicians-Jordison [drums], Kalen Chase [vocals], Jed Simon [guitar], Kyle Konkiel [bass], and Matt Tarach [keyboards], and Steve Marshall [guitar]-retreating to an Iowa basement in order to create music. It’s a place and process synonymous with his many successes. However, the group’s full-length debut Open Your Omen – arriving early 2017 – signals the biggest triumph of Jordison’s illustrious career to date as it came to life in the face of his most trying time.

Diagnosed with the often permanent neurological affliction Acute Transverse Myelitis, he spent three months in the hospital during 2012 and underwent intensive physical rehabilitation and training to not only achieve a full recovery, but to reach a new level of proficiency with his instrument. Emerging from this battle and returning to the stage for a string of festival appearances,  Slipknot parted ways with him.

Finding a new strength and support from close friends and family, he put his head down and did what he does best.

“The riffs, lyrics, and drums of Open Your Omen will tell you a lot,” he admits. “I did this record when I was coming out of the Acute Transverse Myelitis condition. It’s literally what saved me and helped me get back to where I’m healthier than ever. These guys and this album pushed me to not only relearn how to walk, but to be able play the drums again. Open Your Omen is the rebirth of the rest of my life.”

In portentous fashion, the seeds became sown for  VIMIC with Scar The Martyr. In 2013, the group’s critically acclaimed self-titled debut-featuring Simon and Konkiel-introduced listeners everywhere to a fierce new chemistry. As Jordison emerged from his fight with the disorder, he incited a shift in that foundation.
Scar the Martyr was an amazing bridge for me in my career and led me to where I am now which morphed into Vimic, and I feel I finally landed home,” he explains. “It’s a really dark name, and it meant something at the time, but it didn’t register with the music I’m creating now. Through hard work and determination, we’ve made it up that hill which became VimicOpen Your Omen is exactly that. It’s where we are headed as a band.”

He called up longtime friend Chase, whom he initially toured with in  Korn, and the vision solidified. Holing up in Jordison’s home, the guys lived together, ate together, hung out together, and wrote countless songs together. The lineup would be rounded out by Steve Marshall [guitar] in 2016. They tapped into a style equally steeped in engaging and entrancing melodies as it is in unpredictable metallic technicality.

“There was a common goal,” he goes on. “With this record, it was complete honesty. It wasn’t trying to impress anyone or break down any doors. What we were trying to do was be true to our hearts and talent and give something back to the music that gave so much to us while we were growing up. It was about getting into the basement, grinding it out, being friends, and creating music.”

Heading to Sound Farm Studios, Jordison co-produced the record alongside Kato Khandwala [My Chemical RomanceThe Pretty Reckless]. Dialing in every nuance, they crafted a deep, diverse, and dynamic soundscape.

“We really pushed each other in the best way possible,” he says. “Kato’s a killer producer and a great guy. He has a fantastic sense of humor, making the atmosphere really fun.”

The world got its first taste of the band when SiriusXM Liquid Metal premiered “Simple Skeletons” in May 2016. With its seesawing groove, mind-numbing drums, and haunting screams, the track immediately ignited buzz. Jordison would cover Metal Hammer Magazine and receive the prestigious Metal Hammer “Golden God” Award a month later, setting the stage for the record’s impending arrival. The first song he penned for the group “She Sees Everything” followed with its gnashing and guttural delivery and harmonic aural menace.

Now, the single “My Fate” explodes from a hummable lead into an unforgettable chant punctuated by focused, fierce, and fiery percussion.

“When people on the outside heard that song, their response was, ‘This sounds like everything you’re going through,'” he recalls. “There might be a possibility Kalen was thinking about it from an outside perspective for all of us. It became a calling card and a battle cry to let everyone know what we’ve been going through. It’s an emotional song. It was almost like our musical soul was speaking for itself before we could. That’s the beautiful thing about music and why I love doing it.”

Ultimately, VIMIC lays the groundwork for a very bright future. “I’m a firm believer in the other side and where the future takes us,” Jordison leaves off. “Sometimes, we hide things and bury them, but no matter what, there’s a destiny for all of us, and we don’t know what it is. With what I’ve been through and where I’m headed in life, this is my destiny.”

Joey Jordison Makes Long-Awaited Return with New Band VIMIC

Joey Jordison Makes Long-Awaited Return with New Band VIMIC

Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award winner and Slipknot co-founding member and key songwriter, Joey Jordison has unveiled plans for his long-awaited return in the form of a new musical venture, VIMIC. The band consists of Jordison on drums, singer Kalen Chase Musmecci, who has toured with KORN as a backing vocalist and percussionist, and Joey’s former Scar the Martyr bandmates Jed Simon (guitar), Kyle Konkiel (bass) and Matthew Tarach (keyboards). VIMIC has signed a management deal with Nashville powerhouse CTK Management, where Jordison will reunite with former member of Slipknot’s original management team Danny Nozell, and will be represented by United Talent Agency’s Neil Warnock internationally and Tim Borror in North America. Additionally, the band is readying the release of a new album for 2017, which will be released on Jordison’s joint venture record label, with the first video & single to be released in December. Fans can expect more information, along with additional tour dates and music from the upcoming album, in the coming months on www.VimicMusic.comand Joey’s new website www.JoeyJordison.com.

“It’s an honor to be back working with one of the world’s best drummers and songwriters. Joey is a metal icon. I look forward to Joey touring globally and reconnecting with his fan base, helping share his new music and talents with the world again,” said Danny Nozell, CEO CTK Management.

“I am very excited to be back in business with Joey,” said Neil Warnock, Head of Music Worldwide at UTA. “I have fond memories of working with him during his time with Slipknot, and am looking forward to making him a global success with Vimic.”

Often referred to as one the best drummers in the world by fans, musicians and media thanks to his unique style, sound and lightning fast technicality, Joey Jordison has, in addition to co-founding Slipknot, worked with some of the biggest selling acts in hard rock and heavy metal, including Metallica, Korn, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and many more. Before his departure from Slipknot in late 2013, Jordison had been quietly struggling with the career-threatening neurological condion acute transverse myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord which damages nerve fibers, which ultimately led to Jordison losing the use of his legs. Never one to quit or back down from a fight, Joey overcame the impossible through months and months of rehabilitation, regaining the strength to walk again. He is feeling stronger than ever and is eager to show the world what is possible.

“The band members have just arrived to my home in Des Moines, and the energy and vibe is absolutely magnetic. We are ready to bring back our music, showcase our new live shows to the masses, and show our appreciation to the fans who got us here and supported us in the first place. That’s what matters, the fans!!! It’s been a struggle, but we’ve overcome it and are ready to unleash. Thank you to all who have believed in us, have patiently waited, and continue to stand by our side. We’ll see you soon! Get ready…,” said Joey Jordison.

Jordison and VIMIC’s first priority is getting in front of the fans, who have been sending letters, approaching Joey on the street and posting on social media asking when they will be able to see the iconic drummer live. Starting Dec. 26 in Jordison’s hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, the band kicks off a world tour. After the short US run, VIMIC will embark on a UK and European run that will kick off at the end of February through the month of March and into April with dates in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne, Barcelona, Madrid, Milan, Zurich, Tilburg, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Olso and more… VIMIC will also tour Asia, South America, Australia in 2017. WORLDS COLLIDE: Ozzfest and Knotfest Join Forces For Mind-Blowing Double Header

WORLDS COLLIDE: Ozzfest and Knotfest Join Forces For Mind-Blowing Double Header

Worlds have truly collided as the legendary Ozzfest and Knotfest have joined forces…the ultimate meeting of metal minds…a double-header music and lifestyle weekend like no other on the planet.

This merger of two of the most well-known and established brands in rock–OZZFEST, celebrating its 20th anniversary, and KNOTFEST, which debuted in 2012–is set for Saturday, September 24 (OZZFEST) and Sunday, September 25 (KNOTFEST) at San Manuel Amphitheater and Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, CA. Tickets for the Live Nation-produced OZZFEST MEETS KNOTFEST–a multi-stage, two-day weekend camping event with more than 40 acts–go on sale Friday, May 20 at 10:00 AM (PT) at OZZFEST.COM and KNOTFEST.COM. All the details and line-ups (below) were revealed at a major press conference today (Thursday, May 12) at the Palladium in Hollywood, CA.

Saturday’s OZZFEST will be headlined by Black Sabbath–marking their last Southern California performance as part of the band’s final tour–and Sunday’s KNOTFEST bill is topped by the festival’s namesake, Slipknot. On hand at the press conference were OZZFEST founder Ozzy Osbourne and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and M. Shawn Crahan (aka Clown). The event began with a movie screening, followed by a Q&A session with artists from the OZZFEST MEETS KNOTFEST bill and concluded with a p
erformance from Zakk Sabbath, led by Zakk Wylde.

“We are here to create havoc and history,” says Ozzy Osbourne. “Let the madness begin…”

“This could be the one of the coolest things I’ve ever been a part of,” says Corey Taylor of Slipknot. “Starting out as an Ozzfest band, coming into our own with Knotfest and now combining forces to make a little metal history…it was meant to be and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

“Playing with Black Sabbath is always an honor,”Shawn “Clown” Crahan of Slipknot exclaims. “Merging both festivals will be a legendary experience that will be life-changing for all fans. We are excited to bring all the families together again.”

“We want it to be the loudest, biggest, dirtiest festival in California. We couldn’t be happier,” says Sharon Osbourne.

“The impact of Ozzfest on heavy music and on Slipknot, cannot be underestimated,” says Cory Brennan, President, 5B Artist Management. “For 20 years Ozzfest has given fans their first glimpse at bands like Slipknot, Disturbed and countless others, but also bringing new fans and bands together every year. Ozzfest inspired Slipknot to continue this vital tradition with Knotfest, and it’s an honor to celebrate our genre alongside them in 2016.”

The San Manuel Amphitheater and Festival Grounds is where OZZFEST–the event that launched the U.S. hard rock festival market and went on to tour the world–began in 1996 and where KNOTFEST last year took over the San Bernardino, CA venue and expanded into a camping festival. There’s also a longtime history between the two namesakes of the events, with Slipknot appearing at OZZFEST in 1999, 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2013 at the inaugural OZZFEST Japan.

The OZZFEST MEETS KNOTFEST 2016 line-up is as follows, with both OZZFEST and KNOTFEST dedicating a stage in honor of their departed comrade Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead.

Children of Bodom

The Shrine

Sunday, September 25

KORN To Close Out 20th Anniversary Celebration With Headlining Tour This October

KORN To Close Out 20th Anniversary Celebration With Headlining Tour This October

Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum hard rock innovators KORN are topping off their 20th anniversary celebrations with something special for their fans. Today (July 21), the band has announced they will head out on the road for one last turn in 2015 to perform their debut album KORN in its entirety.  A limited amount of tickets and early entry packages will go up on KORN.com tomorrow, Wednesday, July 22 at 10 am local time.  Regular tickets go on sale this Friday, July 24 at 10 am in most markets.

The 20th anniversary shows, which started in 2014, were so well-received that the band-Jonathan Davis (vocals),  James “Munky” Shaffer (guitar), Brian “Head” Welch (guitar), Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu (bass) and Ray Luzier (drums)–wanted to bring this iteration of the live show into an intimate setting for the core fanbase.  Starting on October 1 at Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, the band will set out on a month-long tour around the U.S. to perform the album that started it all at iconic venues including The Fillmore in Detroit, Irving Plaza in New York City, The Tabernacle in Atlanta, Stubbs in Austin and the Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA.  At each show, fans will get to experience KORN two decades later and be able to request which songs from the band’s massive catalogue should make up the encore. Joining KORN on the tour are special guests Suicide Silence and Islander.

KORN’s self-titled debut album, which was released in May 1994, has been heralded by Rolling Stone as “the most important metal album of the last 20 years.”  Produced by Ross Robinson, the critically acclaimed album featured singles “Blind,” “Shoots and Ladders,” “Clown” and “Need To.”  With little mainstream support, Davis’ dark and disturbing lyrics alongside KORN’s new and unique hyper-aggressive soundtrack, KORN went on to sell over two million albums worldwide.

Wrote Christopher Weingarten of Rolling Stone (12/11/14), “While aging metalheads were trying to walk confidently through alternative nation, Korn lurched into the world like hip-hop zombies rocking Adidas tracksuits, baggy jeans and untamed dreadlocks. Their eclecticism was a pre-iTunes shuffle jumble: the whinnies and whines of Cypress Hill, the goth bravado of the Cure, the thwapping double-kicks of Primus, the 808 hit of a Rick Rubin brick-breaker, meth-fueled Boredoms-style scatting, and bass strings that sounded like a bask of crocodiles tangled in industrial-sized rubber bands. While Pantera’s Phil Anselmo grumbled chest-puffing lines like ‘I f***ed your girlfriend last night,’ Korn’s frail Jonathan Davis screamed, ‘I’m a faggot.’ Pearl Jam and Tool couched their torment in poetry and anonymity; but Korn put everything on the line, especially with ‘Daddy,’ a harrowing song about Davis being molested as a child that ends with nearly four minutes of the singer sobbing in the vocal booth.”

Look for KORN to return with a new album in 2016.

Check out KORN’s recent remix of Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money” here.

In addition to an unrivaled lineup of some of the best bands in the world, KNOTFEST is as always a sensory overload experience- and KNOTFEST 2015 will only up the ante. Previous years have featured festival attractions, a Slipknot Museum (curated by the band), carnival rides, drums circles, pillars of fire, freaks, fire-breathers, and stilt-walkers…. and as always, for the members of Slipknot, the mission is to push the limits even further this time around.

Aftershock Festival 2015

Aftershock Festival 2015

The fourth annual Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK Festival will feature a spectacular music lineup of hard rock, alternative and metal artists, as well as an expanded festival site with onsite camping Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 at its new home at Gibson Ranch just outside Sacramento, CA. In addition, the festival will feature live, in-ring matches with WWE’s NXT Superstars.

The band lineup for Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK 2015 includes Slipknot, Faith No More, Deftones, Shinedown, Jane’s Addiction, Marilyn Manson, Coheed & Cambria, Stone Temple Pilots, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Bring Me The Horizon, All Time Low, Sleeping With Sirens, Eagles of Death Metal, Black Veil Brides, and many more performing on four stages. See below for the band lineup by day.

Corey Taylor of Slipknot says, “We are really looking forward to playing AFTERSHOCK in Sacramento! A lot of great bands–can’t wait to see everyone, from Manson to Clutch. Sacramento won’t know what hit it when me and my friends are through.”

Deftones’ Chino Moreno says, “We’re looking forward to being one of the headliners at AFTERSHOCK this year and performing in our hometown.  It’s always special to return to the city that made us.”

In addition to music performances, Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK will feature live, in-ring matches with WWE’s NXT Superstars.  NXT is WWE’s developmental division based out of the state-of-the-art WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Over the past two years, NXT has grown into one of the hottest sports entertainment brands in the world, featuring incredible athleticism and compelling storylines that can be seen every Wednesday night at 8 PM ET on the award-winning WWE Network.

A special “Pre-Shock” discounted Weekend Ticket pre-sale for Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK will begin on Wednesday, May 27 at 10:00 AM PT and run through Sunday, May 31 at 11:59pm PT (or when pre-sale tickets sell out) at www.AFTERSHOCKConcert.com/Tickets, with regularly priced tickets going on sale Monday, June 1. See below for more details.

The daily band lineup for Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK is as follows:

Saturday, October 24: Slipknot, Shinedown, Marilyn Manson, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Bring Me The Horizon, Black Veil Brides, Clutch, Hollywood Undead, P.O.D., Sevendust, Pop Evil, All That Remains, Helmet, Snot, Beartooth, Turbowolf, Art of Dying, Temperance Movement, Kill It Kid, Devour The Day, September Mourning, Stars In Stereo, Raveneye.

Sunday, October 25: Faith No More, Deftones, Jane’s Addiction, Stone Temple Pilots, Coheed and Cambria, All Time Low, Death From Above 1979, Eagles of Death Metal, Sleeping With Sirens, Yelawolf, Failure, Glassjaw, Suicidal Tendencies, Issues, The Sword, Highly Suspect, ’68, Red Fang, One OK Rock, Madchild, Neck Deep, Pink Slips

California’s biggest rock festival hosted over 37,000 fans in 2014 and is expanding the festival experience in 2015 to include onsite camping and the Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK Tequila World. Additional experiences include artist autograph signings at the Monster Energy Hospitality Rig, the Monster Energyviewing area with beverage sampling, Thunder Valley Casino Resort VIP Lounge, the Jack Daniel’s Experience, The Crazy Dave’s Music Experience, band autograph signings, various onsite sponsor activities, and a variety of food and beverage options, including local gourmet food trucks.

Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK producer Danny Wimmer of Danny Wimmer Presents explains, “I loved Discovery Park as a venue. But after two straight years of selling out, there was no room left to grow the festival. Like Discovery Park, Gibson Ranch is a beautiful space that will keep the natural feel of the festival grounds but also gives us room to add new experiences such as camping, Tequila World and the Jack Daniel’s mobile museum. And I am particularly excited about bringing WWE’s NXT brand to AFTERSHOCK. After attending WrestleMania® last year, I knew NXT was a perfect fit. WWE has been a part of mainstream entertainment and pop culture for years and has always been connected with the world of music.  NXT’s energy is a phenomenal match for AFTERSHOCK.”

The new Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK Tequila World will feature a wide range of tequilas, extreme margaritas, gourmet tacos, mixologists and more. Tequilas that will be offered in Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK Tequila World include: Patron, Don Julio, Cuervo, El Jimador, Cabo Wabo and Espolon. Admission to this area is free and open to those 21 and up.

The Jack Daniel’s Experience mobile museum will bring a “Taste of Tennessee” to Sacramento this year. Visitors will learn who Mr. Jack Daniel was and how he ended up with the best selling whiskey in the world. Guests will also see (and smell) whiskey dripping slowly through charcoal and the new oak barrels used in maturing Tennessee’s finest whiskey.

The Crazy Dave’s Music Experience is a free, interactive “rock star” exhibit where fans can get hands-on interaction with tons of musical equipment–much of which is used by their favorite artists performing on stage at the show—and attend artist signings with members of various AFTERSHOCK bands. Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK and The Crazy Dave’s Music Experience also host a group of local music students as part of The Student Experience, which includes a backstage educational tour and participation in various contests and activities at The Crazy Dave’s Music Experience tent.

Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK generates a substantial economic impact in the Sacramento metro area. Based on economic impact studies done at other Danny Wimmer Presents festivals, event producers estimate an economic impact of over $11 million in 2015.

“The Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK Festival has proven itself as a tidal wave of economic impact for Sacramento,” said Mike Testa, COO of the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau. “It drives thousands of hotel room nights to the city and county, directly spends close to a million dollars at local businesses, and provides millions of dollars in overall economic impact to the region.”

A special “Pre-Shock” discounted Weekend Ticket pre-sale for Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK will run from Wednesday, May 27 through Sunday, May 31 (while supplies last) at www.AFTERSHOCKConcert.com/Tickets. During the pre-sale, a limited number of discounted Weekend General Admission tickets will be available for purchase.
