Lionsgate and Republic Records today announced a powerful, star-studded lineup for the soundtrack to the motion picture The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, mixing established music icons including seven-time Grammy® winning band Coldplay, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Patti Smith, and Grammy Award winning Christina Aguilera, along with some of the hottest Billboard chart topping newcomers in the music business.

Also top-lining this exceptionally talent-rich collection are The Lumineers, whose self-titled debut album achieved platinum sales status in the US, Canada (3x), UK, Ireland and Australia and Gold in Germany and France, with their hit single “Ho Hey” selling over 4.5 million single downloads in the US. Lorde, whose debut single “Royals” just made her the first female artist to top the Billboard Alternative Songs chart since Tracy Bonham in 1996, will also be featured on the soundtrack.
Multi-platinum alternative rock band Imagine Dragons, whose 6x platinum selling song “Radioactive” was dubbed “the biggest breakout of the year” by Rolling Stone magazine; UK singer / songwriter Ellie Goulding whose recent release Halcyon Days includes platinum singles “Anything Could Happen” and “I Need Your Love;” Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Sia, whose recent collaborations “Titanium” with David Guetta and “Wild Ones” with Flo Rida were both featured in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hits; pop indie duo Phantogram, who have collaborated with Big Boi, graced the cover of Filter Magazine, and who will release their debut album this fall; and platinum-certified Icelandic folk collective Of Monsters and Men, which became an international presence with the ubiquitous single “Little Talks,” contribute tracks as well.
Acclaimed Brooklyn rockers The National, much buzzed about Nashville-based artist Mikky Ekko, the artist The Weeknd, and award-winning singer-songwriter Santigold round out the white-hot The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, which has already seen its first release, Coldplay’s “Atlas,” debut at #1 on the iTunes Overall Top Songs chart. “Atlas” marks the first-ever motion picture soundtrack contribution written and recorded by Coldplay.
The soundtrack will be available in stores and through all digital retailers on November 19, 2013 just before the film opens worldwide on November 22, 2013. Right now, the album can be pre-ordered via the film’s official online store. Those who pre-order the soundtrack by October 27th will have an opportunity to have their names printed on an exclusive The Hunger Games: Catching Fire poster (while supplies last). The unveiling of the film’s soundtrack today celebrates the 9-week mark in Lionsgate’s “TickTock” countdown campaign which reveals exciting new developments each week through The Hunger Games Explorer leading to the worldwide release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Multiplatinum recording artist Coldplay will release the first track from the official soundtrack album for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, it was announced today by Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF) and Republic Records, marking the first time Coldplay has ever recorded an original song for a motion picture. The song, titled “Atlas,” is scheduled to be available via iTunes and all digital retailers on August 26, 2013.  Republic Records is again teaming up with Lionsgate to release the soundtrack in advance of Lionsgate distributing the film on screens worldwide on November 22, 2013.

“I have great respect and admiration for Coldplay, and we are thrilled with how well they have connected to the themes and ideas within the film,” said filmmaker Francis Lawrence. “Their unwavering passion and excitement for the project elevated the collaboration even further, and we can’t wait to share this music with audiences around the world.”

“We are so honored that Coldplay, one of the iconic rock bands of our generation, will perform the first song out on the new soundtrack,” said Tracy McKnight, Lionsgate’s Head of Film Music. “Knowing that Chris Martin is a fan of the books makes this even more meaningful.  The Coldplay single underscores the stature of recording artists we’ve assembled for this powerful soundtrack.”

Monte Lipman, Chairman & CEO of Republic Records, stated, “The creative alliance between Coldplay and The Hunger Games franchise will create a level of excitement and anticipation of epic proportions.”

Coldplay is one of the top recording artists of recent times, selling over 60 million records worldwide and winning seven Grammy Awards and five MTV Video Awards, among other honors.  They are signed to Parlophone, the legendary label known for The Beatles, Radiohead, Queen, David Guetta and more.

The first installment of The Hunger Games was the 13th highest-grossing North American release of all time on its way to grossing nearly $700 million at the worldwide box office.

This is the first in a series of highly anticipated announcements of the new artists to be revealed in the coming weeks.

The 75th Hunger Games Quarter Quell has been declared! Yesterday it was announced, on the Lionsgate Capitol Facebook page, that every quarter century, the Capitol honors the anniversary of its victors over the districts with a special edition of The Games. This year, for the first time in history, the favorite Victors will return as Tributes.

In honor of the announcement, Lionsgate has released eleven NEW QUARTER QUELL character posters for the wildly anticipated sequel, THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE!

The Capitol has mandated that District Members must #CelebrateYourVictors.

Lionsgate has debuted the First Official Poster for THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE this morning on the NEW official INSTAGRAM account for the film. Lionsgate launched the HUNGER GAMES INSTAGRAM account last week with a four day tease for fans leading up to this morning’s debut.

The first official poster for the film follows the release of the Motion Logo debut last November and the Capitol Propaganda Victory Tour Posters and Capitol Portraits from earlier this year.

Today’s poster of Katniss Everdeen includes a tagline pulled straight from the incredible words of Suzanne Collins – The sun persists on rising, so I make myself stand. 

Lionsgate is also encouraging fans to design and illustrate the first chapter of ‘Catching Fire’ for the chance to see their work featured on The Hunger Games’ official Facebook page! Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Alan Ritchson has been cast in the role of Gloss in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. A former Career tribute from District , Gloss and his sister Cashmere are both competing in the Quarter Quell.

Ritchson most recently starred in the CBS comedy pilot SUPER FUN NIGHT with Rebel Wilson, and BLUE MOUNTAIN STATE, which aired on Spike TV for three seasons.

Meta Golding Cast As Enobaria In ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE have announced that Meta Golding has been cast in the role of Enobaria in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. A former career tribute from District 2, Enobaria is known for the particularly brutal, disturbing way in which she came to win The Hunger Games.
Golding is known to television audiences from series regular and guest starring roles on “CSI,” “Criminal Minds,” “House,” and “Cold Case” and will also be seen in the upcoming independent film The Chicago 8.

Jena Malone Cast As Johanna Mason In ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Jena Malone has been cast in the role of Johanna Mason in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire.  Johanna Mason is a female victor from a past Games still in her early twenties, and is one of the youngest, but also one of the most psychologically scarred Quarter Quell participants.

Malone recently starred opposite and Bill Paxton in the History Channel’s Emmy® nominated mini-series Hatfields & McCoys.  The mini-series broke cable records and is the new most-watched entertainment telecast of all time on cable. Her additional credits include Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, Oren Moverman’s The Messenger, and Sean Penn’s Into the Wild.  She will soon begin production on Lonely Hunter.
