Angie Everhart Discusses Her Epic Career and Exciting Future!

Angie Everhart Discusses Her Epic Career and Exciting Future!

What do you think of when I mention the name Angie Everhart? Some of you may say that she is a stunning model, known for her gorgeous auburn hair and turning heads worldwide with her stunning good looks. Others may say that she is an accomplished actress, most recognizable as the sultry antagonist of ‘Bordello of Blood’. Some may go even further and say that she is a spokesperson for Nutrisystem who has inspired countless people to change their lives for the better. Whatever label her you may attach to her, Angie Everhart is nothing short a phenom when it comes to the entertainment industry. Armed with decades of experience, an infectious smile and a kick-ass personality, this 5’10” bombshell is looking to spread her wings even further and soar to even more amazing heights. Who knew a young redheaded girl from Akron, Ohio would blossom into such a world-renowned success in so many different fields? Steve Johnson of the mighty Icon vs Icon recently sat down with Angie to discuss her epic modeling career, her roles on the silver screen, her projects that have inspired people to change their lives and her most ambitious project to date — EVER, her upcoming hair care line!

Angie Everhart

You started off modeling as a child. Was there ever any doubt in your mind you would pursue it as a full on career?

No, not at all. Obviously, you don’t really know what is in store for you until you get moving in your career. When you start out in any career you don’t really know what you are doing and I had no idea that I was going to get as lucky as I did.

I am sure a lot of young women look to you as an inspiration. Who were some of the women that Influenced you?

When I first started out, there was a woman named Joan Severance who was absolutely, ridiculously beautiful. I started working with the same photographer that she worked with a lot. We were able to work together a number of times and she gave me tips, makeup tips and pointers on how she did things. She was amazing! Ya know, it is always nice when the models are nice! [laughs]

Did you have any idea when you started out you would still be going strong all these years later?

To be honest, I just don’t know what else I would ever do! [laughs] I love my job and I am very fortunate to have been a model and now an actress and to be able to still do modeling and to be a spokesperson. I am actually coming out with my own hair line very soon.

It is always cool to see you on the silver screen. Your last role was in “Take Me Home Tonight.” How did you get involved with that project?

They were shooting the film in Arizona and Topher [Grace] asked me to come over. I auditioned for him and got the part.

What was it like working with the very talented Dan Fogler on that crazy scene?

He was hilarious! He was so awesome and really good to work off of! He is as funny as they come and a total professional. I also had that creepy guy in the scene as well so that made it easy to be creeped out! [laughs]

I was just watching that the other night and was wondering how that all went! The guy who played your husband was definitely creepy as hell! [laughs]

Yeah, well … he is just like that in real life! [laughs] He is just the way he is and I don’t think there was much acting involved with him! [laughs]

Speaking of all things creepy, one of your early roles in film was in “Tales From The Crypt Presents: Bordello of Blood.”

Yes! I was Lilith! [smiles excitedly]

Angie Everhart

You were both sexy and totally evil in that film. What are your fondest memories of working on that project?

Ya know, it was the first movie that I did that had a lot of special effects involved. At one point, the only part of my body that was mine was this piece right here, under my nose, above my lips. Everything else was covered! It looked amazing but it was 13 hours of prosthetics, which was really fun at first and then really tiring later because not only do they have to put on all of the makeup but they have to take it off of you! It was a fun movie shoot though. Dennis Miller was a lot of fun to work with. The whole cast was great!

It was a great cast you had — Dennis Miller, Chris Sarandon, Erika Eleniak, William Sadler and the legendary Corey Feldman. Are you a fan of the horror genre in general?

It scares me! I actually don’t watch scary movies because they scare me so much. I am not a horror movie person. Sorry horror people! [laughs] I get scared way to easy!

Your acting talents have been showcased on television and film. What medium do you find most rewarding as an artist?

The older I get, I find that I just really enjoy what I do in any medium. There is reflection involved in life and when you get older you appreciate what you have and what you have had in the past. I am lucky to pretty much do what I want. It’s great, there couldn’t be a better job than what we do. It is not a “9 to 5” and I am not stuck behind a desk, except for when I am here signing for fans! I am very lucky!

Do you enjoy meeting your fans face to face at signing events like these?

Yes, I really do. It is really nice to meet the fans because if people are coming to an event like this to spend their hard earned money to buy a picture of me or just to shake my hand, it is just cool. It is nice to meet the people who watch your movies and have supported you through the years! It really is cool!

You worked with so many great actors over the years. Who have you learned the most from along your journey?

Martin Sheen taught me some very helpful things in regard to “looks” when you are doing closeups and how he never blinks! [laughs] That is really hard to do, doing a closeup and not blinking! He was great!

Angie Everhart

Is there a part or a specific genre you want to tackle in the years to come?

I would love to do a period piece! I would love that! I always get the part of the bad girl or the prostitute! [laughs]

On a totally different note from that, [laughs] another awesome thing you did a few years back was “Conquering Kilimanjaro with Angie Everhart.” How intense and life changing was that experience for you?

I had always wanted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. I did my own hair, my own makeup and I styled it myself and we did the highest photoshoot ever! It was on the top of the mountain at 19,000 feet. It was so cold, like nothing I had ever experienced before. You can’t even imagine. I thought it wasn’t going to be that hard. Kilimanjaro is the most under estimated mountain in the world. That was one of my bucket list things and I just went out and did it!

Speaking of challenges, you are also a spokesperson for Nutrisystem®.

I am! It is one of the greatest companies that I know to work for. It is like a big family where they encourage people to better themselves, to eat well and to exercise. That has become the philosophy of my life. Eat well because what you put into your body is very important. Nutrisystem® was a great kick-off to getting started on a healthy lifestyle.

Is tackling more roles in film or television something we might see you doing more of in the years to come or do you have other aspirations that you want to pursue?

If I do a movie here or there along the way, that’s great! Bonus!

What can you tell us about your hair care line? It sounds like something you are very passionate about.

Yes! My main focus right now is on the hair products that I am developing. The line is called EVER. I have had a modeling career, an acting career and now I would like to go on to have a career with my hair line, so that is where my focus is taking me. I have spent the last year and a half developing it with the best chemists. It is phosphate and sulfate free for people who have processes in their hair such as color, perms or whatever they do with their hair. It is a gentle shampoo, so it helps you to keep the color or process, which is important to the women out there! It will probably be out by the beginning of 2012. We are shooting an infomercial and will be getting that out on television to spread the word. I should have a website up for it in the next few weeks but in the meantime you can go to www.angieeverhart.com for any updates.

Angie Everhart

You’re an actress, a model who turns heads around the world, and a dedicated mom. Which of those roles has been the most challenging for you?

My favorite thing in the whole world is being a mom to Kayden. It is the best thing that I have ever done, hands down. Climbing mountains, making movies, meeting princes — who cares! Kayden is the coolest little kid! Mommy loves you!

You have had one of the most unique careers in Hollywood and have surely seen interesting things along the way. Any chance for an autobiography documenting some of your adventures in the future?

I would get assassinated! [laughter] I would be taken out! You don’t know how bad I have been! Or good! [laughs] I am a nice girl! I am such a softy! But no, no plans for a book.

They say a career in the entertainment industry isn’t for the faint of heart. I am sure you’ve seen that first hand. What is the best piece of advice you can pass along to those out there who want to pursue a career in show business?

Umm … [laughs] I am such a smart aleck!

You can say “Don’t?” We get that answer more often than you would believe! [laughs]

It is such a hard business because there are so many people who are in it now. It is not a steady job, so I would say the biggest piece of advice that I could give to someone who wants to get into acting is to find a career that you can do and do the acting on the side. Ya know what I mean? Have a plan so you are not starving. There are a lot of actors out there that aren’t working and are still chasing those dreams, so have a career that can pay your bills, support yourself and your family with and pursue acting on the side.

What do you consider your biggest milestone in your ever-evolving career?

The first thing that pops into my head is the very first commercial that I ever did. It was a television commercial for Levi’s. That is what really launched my career and started everything!

Do you think there are any misconceptions about yourself?

The thing I hear most often is “I can’t believe how down to Earth you are! I thought you were going to be a total brat!” I think that is because I have a bad girl look about me but that doesn’t mean I am a bad girl! “Ya know man!” [in a tough girl voice]

[laughs] Well we think you rock, Angie! Thanks for taking time to talk with us. We look forward to seeing even more of you in the future and wish you luck with your upcoming projects!

Thank you so much!
