Paramount Pictures has announced a tentative release date for J. J. Abrams’ highly anticipated ‘Star Trek’ sequel. The powers that be have staked their claim to the coveted pre-4th of July weekend of June 29, 2012.

NBC has released a brand new three-and-a-half minute promo for ‘Heroes: Chapter Five – Redemption,’ which is set to premiere on Monday, September 21st, 2009. Check it out below and weigh in with your thoughts…

With the release of Paramount Pictures Star Trek franchise relaunch only a little more than a month away, the company is already preparing a sequel for blastoff. Variety reports that Paramount has hired Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof to write a screenplay for the second round for the new cast.

J.J. Abrams is once again onboard to produce the follow-up. It is not yet know whether Abrams will return to helm the picture.
