David Arquette, who played Deputy Dewey Riley in Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson’s Scream trilogy has confirmed to E! Online that he and so has his wife Courteney Cox have officially signed up for the next installment in the Scream franchise!
“We are going to be doing Scream 4, Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct.” Arquette told the site. He continued, “I fell in love with my wife on Scream, so the opportunity to bring [Dewey] back to life and for my wife to play that really bitchy character again, it’s just going to be really fun.”
Neve Campbell, who played the lead role of Sidney Prescott in the Scream franchise, will not be returning to reprise the role in Scream 4.
The screenwriter of the series, Kevin Williamson, recently confirmed the news via Twiiter where he simply said “Trying to figure out a Sid-less scenario. She won’t do it. This sucks.” Well, it doesn’t get much more cut and dried than that.
David Arquette is currently in New York City inside a Plexiglas box atop New York City’s Madison Square Garden marquee, where he hopes to raise $250,000 for Feeding America on Tuesday and Wednesday. The organization is the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief charity.
Donations are being accepted on site or through text messages and a Facebook page setup.
The “Bar Hunger” campaign is being sponsored by Mars Inc., the makers of Snickers candy bars.
Arquette, who’s 37, will eat during his stay in the enclosure. He will spend about eight hours each day in the box. He is chairman of Feeding America’s Entertainment Council.
