Robert Zemeckis is reportedly in negotiations to direct a remake of ‘Yellow Submarine’ for Disney, reports Variety. The film would presented to audiences in Digital 3D and also utilize the same performance capture technology that Zemeckis has created for his upcoming holiday film, ‘A Christmas Carol’.
The original film “Yellow Submarine” was a 1968 animated feature based on music by the Beatles. The Beatles appeared only in the film’s closing live-action scene. Actors provided the voices for the animated incarnations of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
The key to the deal is for Zemeckis and company to have access to classic Beatles songs featured in the film, such as “Yellow Sunmarine,” “All Together Now,” “Baby You’re a Rich Man,” “All You Need Is Love,” “When I’m 64,” “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” and “Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.”
