Iconic rapper and label owner, Lil Wayne, in the midst of a high charting radio single “6 Foot 7 Foot” and his recently released 9th studio album I Am Not a Human Being, has announced details and dates for his 2011 North American tour, the I Am Music II tour.
The Multi-platinum and Grammy award winning recording artist, who has sold over 10 million records and whose multi-platinum 2008 album, The Carter III, shattered records by selling over one million copies in its first week of release, will be joined by protégé Nicki Minaj, a top selling rapper signed to his Young Money imprint, whose critically acclaimed debut album Pink Friday has since gone Platinum. In addition to main support act Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne will also be joined by hip hop heavyweight Rick Ross, whose latest effort, Teflon Don, debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified Gold. Rounding out the stellar line up are Travis Barker and Mixmaster Mike, will open all dates with a DJ/Drummer set on the Live Nation / Haymon Ventures produced tour. Travis Barker will release his album Give the Drummer Some on March 15th, with the first single dropping on February 1st.
Lil Wayne’s I Am Music II tour, produced by Live Nation/Haymon Ventures, will make stops at arenas throughout North America this March and April, beginning with a show in Buffalo, NY on March 18, 2011 at the HSBC Arena, concluding on April 29, 2011 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver with additional dates being announced soon. Tickets for the I AM Music II Tour will be available through Live Nation.com starting the weekend of February 4th, 2011.
Independently of the I Am Music II tour, Lil Wayne will also headline the Bamboozle Festival at Meadowlands Arena Complex in East Rutherford, NJ on May 1, 2011.
A dynamic performer celebrated for his endless energy and high voltage live show, Lil Wayne’s I Am Music II tour promises to be his strongest to date. The I Am Music II tour follows Lil Wayne’s unparalleled touring success in the 2008 – 2009 year during which Lil Wayne performed 78 headline shows across domestic arenas and amphitheatres in 9 months, grossing over $40 million USD, making him hip hop’s most profitable touring artist.
Lil Wayne recently released “6 Foot 7 Foot”, the first single off his heavily anticipated The Carter IV album, slated for a Spring 2011 release via Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown. Produced by Shondrae ‘Bangladesh’ Crawford and featuring a verse from Young Money newcomer Cory Gunz, “6 Foot, 7 Foot” is a dynamic exercise in word play and flow in which Lil Wayne rhymes over a sample of Harry Belafonte’s “Banana Boat Song (Day-O).”
