Fierce velvet-voiced rock ‘n roll soul child Anna Rose has done it again with the video for her new single off her forthcoming album, “Behold A Pale Horse.” The video premiered exclusively through Nylon Magazine, check it out at this location!
Jennifer Tzar directed this breathtaking video, which was filmed in Snowdonia, Wales in April of 2012. They decided to shoot in Snowdonia because of the unique mix of ruins, epic natural landscapes, and strong sense of history, which Anna felt very connected to.
Anna has now finished recording her sophomore album Behold a Pale Horse with the fantastic Kevin Salem (Rachel Yamagata, Lenka). This album is the follow up to her phenomenal 2010 debut Nomad. Citing influences such as Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, and calling celebrated guitarist Arlen Roth her mentor, Anna proves that she comes from a place very different than the typical definition of female singer-songwriter. She is a true child of rock and roll, a self-taught musician who is one of today’s most dynamic performers. First introduced to the guitar at age 5 during a family gift swap, she has proved her musical prowess time and again with her powerful voice and instinctive ability to craft distinctive, memorable songs.
Rose is a respected singer, songwriter, pianist, and guitarist who may be best known for her recent soulful, dark cover of the Arcade Fire’s “My Body Is a Cage.” The video, which premiered on NME.com, was shot by famed director Moh Azima, known for his recent video work with such acclaimed bands and artists as Cold War Kids, Interpol, The Hold Steady and Chromeo. It features Anna in the midst of some serious relationship troubles and was gorgeously shot on location in Brooklyn, New York. You can view the video at NME
“Behold A Pale Horse” is an exciting preview of what is to come from Anna Rose. More details on the release will be announced shortly.
