Andrew W.K. announced today that his first book about partying, The Party Bible, will be published by Simon & Schuster. The announcement, first broken on The A.V. Club, is accompanied by a video of the “Party Hard” rock icon’s physical and mental preparation for this literary task.
“The Party Bible will take readers on an unforgettable voyage in search of truth, wisdom and party bliss,” said Michael Szczerban, the editor who acquired the book. “In it, every feeling will be permitted, every thought will become prophecy and humanity’s surging life force will be harnessed and ridden into the abyss.”
Picking up where the Book of Revelation ends, The Party Bible will provide insight into mankind’s purpose on earth and the inspiration to celebrate all of existence. Readers will come to fathom the complete spectrum of feeling in every moment, embrace the taboo and the transcendent, and experience ecstatic pleasure in an explosion of nonstop party power. The Party Bible will be the partying manifesto for generations to come.
“This book is the culmination of my entire career as a professional partier. In fact, this book is the culmination of my entire life,“ W.K. said. “Everything that has ever and never happened has led to me being in the perfect position to receive the contents of The Party Bible and write it down, once and for all. This is a powerful and dangerous feeling, but it is definitely meant to happen. I’m grateful to all my party friends for requesting this book. This is our book.”
This is indeed an open collaboration between W.K. and the worldwide partying public. To join in, send a message about the life questions you want answered to @AndrewWK on Twitter, using the hashtag #ThePartyBible.
Simon & Schuster acquired World rights, including first serial and audio, from Creative Artists Agency.
W.K., who has just spent a busy summer as the only opening act on Black Sabbath’s U.S. tour is currently busy on a national solo music tour (“The Party Messiah Tour”). In October he will join punk drumming icon Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg as vocalist for his band for U.S. and UK dates. In addition to his lengthy music credits as a solo artist, producer and collaborator, W.K.’s accomplishments include hosting the successful Cartoon Network TV program Destroy Build Destroy, being the international ambassador to the 2012 World Snowboarding Championship in Oslo, Norway and becoming a regular commentator on networks like VH1 and FOX. In recent years, W.K. has turned his positive message into motivational lectures at such Ivy League universities as Harvard and Yale, as well as a national My Little Pony convention. He has partied at lavish affairs with dignitaries, academics, and film stars, to communal block parties, intimate DIY venue halls and frequently at his own popular NYC nightclub, Santos Party House.
