THE NEARLY DEADS: Release Official Music Video For “I Said”

Alternative rock outfit The Nearly Deads have released the official music video for “I Said” ( Echoing the band’s same frisky sense of humor and love of cinema that propelled their breakthrough “Never Look Back” to 6.3 million views, the new video is an homage to the 1992 comedic masterpiece, Wayne’s World.

With singer Theresa Jeane as “Garth” and bassist Kevin Koelsch as “Wayne,” the hysterical video pays tribute to classic scenes, including the “No Stairway To Heaven” music shop foray, the revered “paper spew cup” and the climactic “Bohemian Rhapsody” head-banging/air-drumming sequence. In TND’s update, the action unfolds in “Bertha,” a beloved minivan tattooed with punk rock stickers, as the band cruises Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Premiering May 27 via the Roxwel video network, which powers content to 5.5 million Verizon FIOS TV customers, the video created an instant buzz with immediate adds to MusicMix USA, which provides content to My Family TV Network and TUFF-TV and ClubCom, which services 3500 Health & Fitness Clubs worldwide.

Dubbed “a defiant piano-driven anthem” by PureVolume, Miss Jeane recalls the song’s genesis from seven years ago, “‘I Said’ is a song I wrote when I was still sleeping in my van every night. This song goes way back for me. I wrote it at a time where I was fed up with being held back by guys I was dating, and I realized that I was strong enough to go it alone. I used to play this song in my old Tampa, FL band, Blondes Not Bombs. I was listening to a lot of Something Corporate at the time. When I combined forces with The Nearly Deads, this was one of the songs we had to make our own.”

“I Said” is the first single Invisible Tonight, the band’s highly-anticipated debut album which hits June 24. As support for the release, a Kickstarter campaign with thirty-five rewards, including props from the “I Said” video, is active until June 15 (

Currently on the Paper Dolls Tour with Minneapolis rockers City of the Weak, the band is set to play the Miller Lite Main Stage at PrideFest in Milwaukee, WI on Saturday June 7. Other artists scheduled to perform include Macy Gray, Mary Lambert, Big Freedia, Steve Grand, Beverly McClellan and Lisa Lampanelli ( From there, the quintet will hit the road with Philly pop-punk outfit Rivers Monroe, and special guest Devon O’Connor, on a three-week Invisible Tonight Tour, culminating with a hometown record release show at Exit/In on Sunday June 29.

From record to stage to the written page, The Nearly Deads have amassed wide-spread critical acclaim. Crowned victors in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and a Converse Battle of the Bands competition, the band has received airplay on MTVu, FUSE, JBTV and BlankTV, been featured in Absolute Punk, Alt Press, Outburn, PureVolume, Revolver and Substream and rose to #14 on the Billboard Next Big Sound Chart. They’re alums of Vans Warped Tour, Summerfest and Journeys Backyard BBQ and have shared bills with Halestorm, All-American Rejects and Tonight Alive.
