Chicago-based EMPIRES recently premiered two new tracks off their upcoming EP How Good Does It Feel. The tracks – “Hostage” and “Lifers” – streamed exclusively on Pop Matters and Interview Magazine, respectively. Last week, the band premiered “Please Don’t Tell My Lover” on Sterogum.
The premieres follow the release of the music video for the title track “How Good Does It Feel,” which GQ Magazine named one of the Best 25 Songs of the Summer. The full EP is a collection of songs that will appear on the band’s major label debut Orphan later this year. It was produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, The War On Drugs, The Black Angels) and will be available in digital and on limited edition ’10 vinyl on Chop Shop / Island Records on June 17 (pre-order here). That same day, Empires will make their TV debut with a performance on The Late Show With David Letterman.
The band has already played the Hangout and Bottle Rock Music Festivals and toured with Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s. They are looking forward to playing Bonaroo and the upcoming Austin City Limits Music Festivals, as well as hitting the road this July with The Chain Gang of 1974.
