Mall, the debut feature film by Joe Hahn of Linkin Park, will have an exclusive Nerd HQ screening at Zachary Levi and The Nerd Machine?s 5thannual Nerd HQ event. Taking place at San Diego?s Petco Park, the limited availability screening of Joe Hahn?s thriller will be held on July 24th; blasting off mere minutes after Linkin Park exits stage left from the mtvU Fandom Awards performance. The screening will be immediately followed by a ?Conversations for a Cause? Q&A panel featuring Hahn, producer Sam Maydew (Silver Lining Entertainment), composer Alec Puro and other cast members.
Mall boasts a cast starring Vincent D?Onofrio (who pulls triple duty as star/producer/screenwriter), Gina Gershon (Killer Joe), Cameron Monaghan(TV?s Shameless), Peter Stormare (Fargo) and James Frecheville (Animal Kingdom). Seen through the eyes of Jeff (played by Monaghan), the film examines a group of disgruntled suburbanites who find themselves at a shopping mall in the midst of a seemingly random shooting, and whose lives are positively transformed as a result.
As a member of the multi-platinum Grammy-winning rock band, Hahn is responsible for the beats, programming and keyboard heard in Linkin Park. He has also directed as many as 30 of the band?s ground-breaking music videos, and over a dozen short films and music videos for other musical acts. Now Hahn is making his full feature directorial debut with Mall, featuring a script adapted from Eric Bogosian?s 2001 novel of the same name by D?Onofrio, Joe Vinciguerra, and Sam Bisbee.
Earlier this summer, Paragon Pictures, led by Evan Crooke, picked up the North American rights to Mall. As the theatrical distribution division of Osiris Entertainment, Paragon Pictures is planning to release Mall nationwide this fall following Linkin Park?s massive Carnivores Tour, kicking off on August 8 in West Palm Beach, FL.
