According to the LA Times, it appears that Michael Myers could be headed into the realm of 3-D. The Weinstein’s have confirmed that ‘Halloween 3D’ is in development. Bob Weinstein said Rob Zombie, who directed the last two films for the franchise, will not be returning for ‘Halloween 3-D.’ Zombie’s next project will be a remake of sci-fi classic, “The Blob.”

The studio is currently in negotiations with a new director, who has experience in horror and will provide a “different take” on the franchise.

Dimension Films next 3-D outing is Alexandre Aja’s ‘Piranha’ remake which swims into theaters April 16, 2010.

An American Werewolf In London

Variety reports that Dimension Films is developing a remake of the classic werewolf film ‘An American Werewolf in London,’ which Sean and Bryan Furst will serve as producers. The Furst brothers have recently produced “Daybreakers,” a film set in a world conquered by vampires and to be released in January of 2010.

The original 1981 pic was written and directed by John Landis and starred David Naughton, Griffin Dunne and Jenny Agutter. Pic, which won an Oscar for it’s groundbreaking makeup work. The film centers on a college student going on a rampage after surviving an attack by a werewolf on a Yorkshire moor.

Dimension has not yet attached a writer or director to the project.

Dimension Films has released a second trailer for Rob Zombie’s Halloween II . The trailer features all new footage from the film, which opens August 28th, 2009.
