Tyler Mane Develops New Film Production Company

Tyler Mane Develops New Film Production Company

TylerMane

Tyler Mane

The man behind the mask of Michael Myers from box office horror films Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN (2007) and H2 (2009), as well as other block buster hits such as X-MEN and TROY, is taking matters into his own hands. Tyler Mane has announced the formation of his new production company, Mane Entertainment, LLC and plans for their first film, a horror-thriller titled PENANCE LANE.

“Indie films are taking a beating”, states Mane. “I firmly believe that some of the best, most creative films are done on a smaller budget. If you’re absolutely committed to getting a high quality project, it forces you to think outside the box and make the best use of your resources.”

Mane also cites the current economy as one of his motivating factors. “The bottom line is ultimately the bottom line, and no matter what the numbers at the box office say, they’re only relevant based on how much was put into the film. You can have a #1 movie that makes millions of dollars, but if you haven’t made your investors’ money back, on some level it’s still a failure. Right now you have to go smaller to get bigger. I think we as filmmakers need to be more responsible in this rough economic period and mitigate the financial risk. ”

In PENANCE LANE a career criminal fresh out of the joint is given an opportunity to leave behind his criminal ways– but it comes with a catch. He must first take a walk down Penance Lane to find a fortune from a heist gone wrong. But the horrors he finds in the dilapidated house he must search are far more than he could have ever imagined.

Mane Entertainment is currently in the financing process for PENANCE LANE and looking for other production companies and financers to collaborate on this project. For information please contact Mane Entertainment at contact@maneentertainment.com.

Michael Jackson To Auction 2,000 Personal Items

Michael Jackson To Auction 2,000 Personal Items

It seems that the common man isn’t the only one effected by these trying financial times. The King of Pop seems to have been affected as well. A huge public auction is being held this April, where over 2,000 of Michael Jackson‘s personal belongings will go up for auction.

michael_jackson_4The event is to be held over the course of five days at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Michael Jackson himself was key in organizing the exhibition. The world renowned entertainer hopes to raise millions of dollars to improve his current financial woes.

The vast auction has filled a six-volume book detailing every lot and US TV channel the Auction Network are set to broadcast the auction live both on national TV and the internet.

Items on sale include the gates to his Neverland Ranch, a touring coach, a signed oil-painting of Jackson dressed as a king, a golf cart featuring the singer depicted as Peter Pan, Jackson’s sequinned jacket he wore for the 1984 Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony, a set of his signature Swarovski crystal gloves (including the iconic white glove from his Billie Jean video) and a robotic Michael Jackson head from his 1988 film Moonwalker.

Pick of The Week: Planet of the Apes – The Ultimate DVD Collection

Pick of The Week: Planet of the Apes – The Ultimate DVD Collection

For this week’s Pick of The Week, we take a look at a true masterpiece in filmaking and packaging…

Planet of the Apes – The Ultimate DVD Collection

While provoking neither the decades of spin-offs of the Star Trek franchise or the cultural staying power of the Star Wars universe, Planet of the Apes nonetheless lives in the hearts of many a Sunday afternoon TV-watcher. A high water mark for prosthetic movie magic, this primate-vs-man epic–spanning four movies, a TV series, and an animated series–was as integral to the 1970s as Led Zeppelin or muscle cars. So how to properly pay tribute to a science fiction franchise about intelligent apes roaming a post-apocalyptic earth?

Package the whole set in a freakin’ ape head boxed set, man!

planetoftheapes

It’s true. 20th Century Fox packaged the entire run–movies, TV series, animated series, and the 2001 Tim Burton remake–in Caesar’s head. Actually, the 14 discs are efficiently packaged in a fold-out book that slides into the bust’s back.

The bust is smartly dressed in green canvas, with zippers that don’t actually lead to pockets. The hair is a luxurious mane that could have been wasted on at least three toupes. Put this masterpiece of DVD packaging on a shelf and watch it catch the gaze of everyone who walks into the room.

The set is limited to 10,000 copies and comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity. For those who don’t want to commit to the full ape head experience, most of the discs in this set–sans the animated series, TV show, and Tim Burton remake–can be had in the Planet of the Apes Legacy Boxset .

The Very Best Of Billy Idol: Idolize Yourself – CD Review

The Very Best Of Billy Idol: Idolize Yourself – CD Review

Billy Idol: Idolize Yourself

Billy Idol: Idolize Yourself

By JASON PRICE

?

This is a man who needs little introduction. If you have listened to music or turned on the TV in the past twenty plus years, it is obvious that the pop culture landscape has become intertwined with his classics. He is one of the few icons of the early days of MTV that craved out a niche, defined an era and has never faded away. What truly sets this man apart from his early peers is that he has never lost his shine, his bleached blond hair, his punk rock attitude or his signature punk rock snarl. This is Billy Idol.

With almost three decades in the game, Idol stands ready to swing the vault door open with his latest offering, a stellar greatest hits package, titled Idolize Yourself: The Very Best of Billy Idol. This collection of Idol’s work spans his entire solo career, from his 1982 debut release through 2005’s often underrated Devil’s Playground. The powerful collection will be available to the public in not just one, but in three formats: a CD, a deluxe CD/DVD, and a digital version.

There is no doubt that the deluxe package is a must have for all fans of Billy Idol, as it is the most complete release of his hits to date. The CD features 16 classic jams such as “Dancing With Myself”, “Hot In The City”, “White Wedding”, “Rebel Yell” and “Eyes Without a Face,” and that is just the first five tracks. Let the CD play and the hits just keep on coming! Up and coming rockers take note: solid song writing and a little bit of attitude can take you a long way.

For avid fans of Billy Idol one of the most exciting features of this release is that it features two new tracks, “John Wayne” and “New Future Weapon.” Within seconds of listening to these solid new tracks, the listener will have absolutely no doubt that Billy Idol is still at the top of his game vocally. Produced by Josh Abraham (30 Seconds To Mars, Limp Bizkit, Staind), these two moody new tracks will certainly leave avid fans thirsting for more new Idol material. Although no new album is currently in the works, the longevity that Idol has displayed over the years, coupled with his ageless voice, are two signs that these tracks are just a taste of things to come.

In what almost seems to be an added bonus to this punk powered excursion, the deluxe edition adds 13 music videos making their DVD release debuts. The DVD also includes two alternate video edits that have never before been released in any format. Fans who grew up when MTV was in it’s prime will surely love to revisit these videos, which helped shape the once mighty network and the decade in which they were released.

In what seems to be an added bonus, the CD and CD/DVD packages are both designed by world renowned pop-artist Shepard Fairey. Fairey, who is best known for his “OBEY” imagery, was clearly the right man for the job on this outing. His iconic style easily captures the essence of Billy Idol on the album’s stunningly powerful and eye catching cover. The package also features include liner notes by David Wild, a contributing editor at Rolling Stone magazine.

The Very Best Of Billy Idol: Idolize Yourself, will be released through Capitol Records on June 24, 2008.
