  • Cool@memory in the feed today. 10 years ago, this absolute beauty touched down at the house. 🔥 This incredible ROAD HOUSE screenprint by @mattryan was one of my early pickups of his work, and I snapped this photo not long after it arrived. A little while later, it went up on the wall... and it has never come back down. It’s still one of my favorite pieces in the collection and the only one multiple people@have threatened to burglarize my house over! Matt absolutely nailed the glorious insanity of ROAD HOUSE, from the colors and composition to that killer lineup of characters. Ryan Gosling’s Driver, the scorpion jacket, the neon-soaked L.A. nights, sudden bursts of violence and that unforgettable soundtrack all became part of the film’s identity. Sadly, we lost Kavinsky earlier this year, but “Nightcall” ensured his work would forever be tied to one of the most memorable opening sequences of the 2010s. He left a real mark on cinema.   • 💾🔥 HACK THE PLANET! 🔥💾 Had to break out the ol’ “Dade Murphy,” my vintage Casio ATC-1200, in honor of HACKERS DAY! Hard to believe it’s been 31 years since HACKERS hit theaters and introduced us to one of the coolest crews of the ’90s: Jonny Lee Miller as “Zero Cool,” Angelina Jolie as “Acid Burn,” Matthew Lillard as “Cereal Killer,” Renoly Santiago as “Phantom Phreak,” Laurence Mason as “Lord Nikon,” and Jesse Bradford as Joey. This thing is basically a time capsule from the coolest version of 1995 imaginable. Rollerblades, pay phones, giant laptops, rooftop parties, ridiculous hacker handles, Fisher Stevens chewing scenery as “The Plague,” and a soundtrack that still absolutely rules. None of it should work quite as well as it does, but that’s exactly why I’ve loved it all these years.
