Rooney Announces Dates For ‘A Cosmic Interlude Tour 2018’

Rooney is excited to announce A Cosmic Interlude Tour 2018. The tour will see the band founded and helmed by Robert Schwartzman playing dates across North America this August and September with special guest Mating Ritual, and will draw from their nearly two decades of releasing albums and playing live. A Cosmic Interlude Tour will also come in conjunction with soon to be released new music, including songs featured on the soundtrack to the forthcoming Schwartzman directed movie The Unicorn, debuted at SXSW 2018 and out in theatres this fall.

The upcoming tour dates, new music, and theatrical release of The Unicorn, sees Schwartzman pursuing his multiple passions in tandem like he never has before. It also marks a departure for Rooney from the confines of the standard label based album cycle model. The goal for Schwartzman moving forward focuses on embracing the intersections between his pursuits in music and film, and releasing new songs and touring more regularly while doing so.

“I’ve really enjoyed having consistency releasing new music each year and performing,” says Schwartzman. “We live in a time of exciting new technology that makes music, tv, films readily available and can help artists keep the flow, find a groove, so I’ve enjoyed embracing those tools. To that point, it’s also been inspiring and creatively liberating to focus on directing feature films, a longtime passion and goal, and find ways to contribute musically. It’s opened up a really exciting collaboration between film and music, which supports the work on tour and discovery. Overall I’m happy to give Rooney supporters and concertgoers new music and a show every year, to keep doing what I love, so that’s something I hope to continue for years to come.”

Rooney’s most recent LP, 2016’s Washed Away, saw the band perform on Today, Late Night With Seth Meyers, and was praised as “incredibly catchy” by Nylon and a “kick-ass” album by Paste Magazine. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for new music and news to come from the band in 2018.
