SHUDDER TO THINK Announce “Who Sent You” EP, Their First New Project in Nearly Three Decades!

Ahead of their fall tour dates, acclaimed post-hardcore art rock pioneers Shudder to Think return with a new track and news of their first project in almost three decades. The three-song Who Sent You EP is due September 11th via Dischord Records, and its title track – a song that vocalist Craig Wedren notes, “unintentionally encompasses multiple eras of Shudder To Think” – is available now.

“‘Who Sent You?’ is about my teenage years in Cleveland in the 1980s, just before I moved to D.C. with my outsized emotions – young, horny, bored,” notes Wedren. “It’s both a collage of memories, refracted through the prism of time, and a message back to my younger self (“sense your way home”). Above all, it’s a nocturnal THANK YOU to all of the girls, family, friends, music, and invisible hands that lit the path, angels and devils both. Who, indeed, sent you??”

Shudder to Think returned in 2025 with their first live performances in over a decade and their “Thirst Walk” / “Playback” 7” – tracks that draw on the band’s classic sound: melodic, unpredictable, and unmistakably their own. The 7” sold out quickly and has now been repressed and will be available at their upcoming dates in Philadelphia (sold out), New York and Los Angeles, and select record stores. Miss Grit will support on both East Coast shows. The run – the band’s only live appearances of 2026 – kick off on the heels of the Who Sent You EP release. In 2024, Shudder to Think celebrated the 30th anniversary of their groundbreaking 1994 album Pony Express Record – their first album on Epic Records, following several releases on Dischord Records. In their recent 9.1-rated Sunday Review of the album, Pitchfork noted that it is “one of the strangest, most exhilarating products of the post-’Nevermind’ alternative rock boom …a unicorn, powerful and iridescent and lithe, in shiny black latex. A sexy horse, charging triumphantly into the unknown” and Stereogumcalled it “a masterwork of alternate dimension progressive pop.”

By the late-90’s, Shudder to Think dove into the world of scoring films and creating music for soundtracks with the 1998 releases of Jesse Peretz’s First Love, Last Rites; Lisa Cholodenko’s High Art and the Todd Haynes epic, Velvet Goldmine. Wedren and Larson have gone on to be prolific film and television composers with Wedren working on YELLOWJACKETS, Wet Hot American Summer, The School Of Rock, Laurel Canyon and more; and Larson working on Our Idiot Brother, The Skeleton Twins, Juliet, Naked and High Fidelity (TV series), among others.

The band’s current lineup features Pony Express Record-era bandmates Craig Wedrenon lead vocals, Nathan Larson on guitar, and Adam Wade on drums alongside Clint Walsh on guitar and Jherek Bischoff on bass.
