Drew Fortier Releases Extended Edition of Autobiography

By popular demand, musician, filmmaker, actor, and now author Drew Fortier has released an extended and definitive version of his autobiography “Dark, Depressing, and Hilarious: My Bittersweet Journey In and Out of the Music Business”.

This final version of the book, available in paperback as well as hardcover (for the first time), has more than double the content of its initial release including: more tales from the road, a photo section, and an additional foreword by Fortier’s high school friend and Attack of Life: The Bang Tango Movie producer Joe Placzkowski. The book is an over-all more in-depth reading experience about Fortier’s unique and multi-faceted career in the entertainment industry leading up why he decided to eventually and abruptly walk away from it all.

“This book is literally me in its purest form”, says Fortier. “Aside from the cover art and photos, I did everything with no outside help. I edited this book, formatted this book, proof-read this book, and wrote this book out of sheer will and determination just to see if I could and I couldn’t be more happy with the finished product.”

Reunited FLIPP Recruit Guitarist Drew Fortier As Second Guitarist

Reunited FLIPP Recruit Guitarist Drew Fortier As Second Guitarist

The reunited U.S. rock group FLIPP have recruited musician/filmmaker/actor Drew Fortier (ZEN FROM MARS, BANG TANGO, CHUCK MOSLEY) as their second guitarist.

Says FLIPP in a statement: “We are so very happy to have Drew Fortier as a member of the band. We can’t wait for future shows and we’re going to have fun trying to find the right stage name for him. For the moment, we’re calling him “Drew Badly”; because he’s not a bad guitar player… he’s just drawn that way.”

Fortier added: “I am so excited to become a member of such a legendary and criminally underrated band. I have been a big fan of theirs since I was a kid, and with all the fun and zany theatrics, it’s like performing with my favorite cartoon comic book superheroes! It so much fun!”

Fortier made his live debut with the band at the annual Barn Party in Stillwater, Minnesota this past weekend.

The rest of the lineup includes: singer/guitarist Brynn Arens, bassist Cherry Forever, and drummer Kilo Bale; all of whom are founding members of FLIPP.

Future shows are currently in the works.

ABOUT FLIPP
FLIPP is a Minneapolis-based rock band formed in 1994,known for their penchant for elaborate stunts and theatricsincluding, but not limited to: dropping hundreds of pounds of cereal onto rock festival audiences, initiating mass scale feather pillow fights with crowds, and surprise pop up shows on the back of flatbed trucks in the middle of busy downtown metropolitan areas; the band is also remembered for itscartoonish stage costumes, clown make-up, and bizarre onstage behavior; culminating in a style of music which has been described as CHEAP TRICK meets THE SEX PISTOLS.

The band experienced success in the 90’s with the almost accidental popularity of their homemade music video for their sludgy cover of THE WHO’s MY GENERATION; which received regular airplay on MTV’s 120 Minutes and proceeded to secure the band a record deal and subsequent support slots fora wide range of artists such as WHITE ZOMBIE, CHEAP TRICK, BUSH, OASIS, EVANESCENCE, GREEN DAY, and EVERCLEAR, to name a few.
While under management by Bill Aucoin (KISS, BILLY IDOL), the band were close to a radio hit with their single “Freak”, from their Art Alexakis (EVERCLEAR) co-produced album “Volume”; the song landed at #38 on Billboard, as well as #1 in 8 different cities. In an unsuspected turn, their record label at the time, Artemis Records, had been in litigation and went under before a final push for the singlewas to be had, which resulted in the eventual dissolution of the band.
FLIPP have since been reunited and reactivated as of 2016.

The band’s newest member, Drew Fortier, is a musician, songwriter, filmmaker, and actor best known as guitarist for BANG TANGO, the late Chuck Mosley (FAITH NO MORE), and ZEN FROM MARS; which he cofounded, and also includes members Stephen Shareaux (KIK TRACEE), Chip Z’Nuff (ENUFF Z’NUFF), Mike Heller (FEAR FACTORY,MALIGNANCY, RAVEN), Brynn Arens (FLIPP), and Kate Catalina (SPARKLE PARTY). Fortier has also directed and edited the documentaries “Attack of Life: The Bang Tango Movie” as well as the upcoming “Thanks. And Sorry: The Chuck Mosley Movie”. He will also be making his acting debut in the upcoming Comedy Horror film “Her Name Was Christa”.

FLIPP front man Brynn Arens and guitarist Drew Fortier are also both in ZEN FROM MARS, for which their debut album, “The Ultra Head Frequency”, is currently being mixed and mastered by Richard Easterling (AMERICAN HEADCHARGE, MUSE) for a fall 2018 release.

Director Drew Fortier Releases Never-Before-Seen Footage From ‘Attack of Life: The Bang Tango Movie’

A must-see rock doc!

Director Drew Fortier has just released a previously unreleased clip from his riveting 2015 documentary, ‘Attack of Life: The Bang Tango Movie.’

Of the clip, Fortier says: “This is from the rough cut of the movie and this clip does not reflect the personalities of those involved and is merely a snippet in time “in the moment” situation of a band on tour that many acts experience while on the road. Everyone featured in the clip are lovely, talented all around good hearted people. This is only shows a bit of the “taking the piss out of each other” moment which is more innocent than it seems.”

Drew Fortier To Helm “Thanks. And Sorry: The Chuck Mosley Movie”

Drew Fortier To Helm “Thanks. And Sorry: The Chuck Mosley Movie”

Director and Musician Drew Fortier has announced his latest film project, a documentary about the late Faith No More / Bad Brains / Cement / Primitive RaceChuck Mosley. The film was initially conceived as a narrative on the legendary singer and musician’s then burgeoning comeback, and Chuck originally agreed to the project through a typically irreverent voicemail.

Drew Fortier (Bang Tango, Zen From Mars) will return to a familiar spot behind the camera in 2018 to direct Thanks. And Sorry: The Chuck Mosley Movie.

While playing a handful of shows on guitar for Chuck Mosley (Faith No More, Bad Brains, Indoria, Primitive Race) in 2017, Drew and Chuck discussed the framework of a documentary about the singer/songwriter’s life and his reemergence on the scene.

“I am incredibly excited to tell Chuck’s story,” said Drew, who also directed 2015’s Attack of Life: The Bang Tango Movie, “I believe everyone will be able to get something positive out of the finished project of what will be Chuck’s film.”

Chuck passed away unexpectedly on November 9th 2017, a couple days after leaving a voicemail for Drew… in his best Bane impression.
“I’ve decided to go ahead with the video…I mean, not the video, but the documentary on this one, Chuck Mosley. He seems like a pretty expansive and explosive character. I think he would be perfect for the part of himself…”
Mosley had recently completed sixty-plus dates on his Reintroduce Yourself tour and recorded a solo record with producer Matt Wallace (Maroon Five, Deftones, The Replacements). On November 3rd 2017 his band, Primitive Race, released their sophomore effort Soul Pretender, currently rising up the NACC Radio 200 chart.

The film will be produced by Chuck’s longtime friend/bandmate/babysitter, Douglas Esper, who is also working on a book about their time on the road and in the studio together. “In supporting Drew I hope to give people a glimpse into the beautiful and frustrating mind of one of the most unique, self proclaimed ‘Rock Satellites,’ of all time.”

Drew, Chuck, and Douglas will also all appear in front of the camera in 2018. Drew will appear in the upcoming James L. Edwards horror feature, Her Name was Christa. Chuck is also starring in the short film Like An Open Heart It Shines, written and directed by David Collupy. The film also features Douglas in a role.

Drew and Douglas recently launched, facebook.com/thanksandsorrychuck and fans can contact chuck@mosleyvua.com for the project. They are eager to hear from fans, family, friends, and anyone else willing to share stories, photos, audio, and video of Chuck Mosley.
