Godsmack Release Second Song And Title Track From New Album ‘When Legends Rise’

Godsmack Release Second Song And Title Track From New Album ‘When Legends Rise’

With their album release and tour set to kick off in a few weeks, GODSMACK has premiered their new song and the album’s title track “When Legends Rise” at Billboard.com.

The album is available for pre-order now (here) with instant downloads of first single “Bulletproof” and also “When Legends Rise.” At U.S. radio, “Bulletproof” is currently #3 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart and #4on the Mediabase published Active Rock chart.  The track is #2 in audience on both charts as well.  This week, “Bulletproof” also climbed to the #1 spot on Sirius XM Octane’s Big Uns Countdown.  As SULLY ERNA explained to Billboard, “When Legends Rise is not an egotistical statement as much as it’s a metaphorical way of kind of burning everything down to the ground and build it back up–a Phoenix rising from the ashes kind of vibe.”

“When Legends Rise” is the second song to be released from the multi-platinum band’s upcoming album of the same name that’s due out April 27 via BMG. That same day, the band–Sully Erna [vocals, guitar], Tony Rombola [guitar], Robbie Merrill [bass], and Shannon Larkin [drums]–will kick off their 2018live shows, performing at seven U.S. festivals through July 14 (see the dates below). Next up is their co-headlining six-week outdoor amphitheater tour with Shinedown which kicks off July 22 and hits more than 30 cities.

Earlier this month, GODSMACK premiered the official music video for “Bulletproof.” Directed by filmmaker Troy Smith, the song’s video is a short film that parodies the making of a rock video with cameos from Billy Ray Cyrusand Sebastian Bach. SULLY ultimately hires his crazy Italian cousin to direct the video and everything goes wrong. Click here to watch.

20 years since the release of their debut album and 20 million album sales later, GODSMACK are an even stronger animal than before. The proof is in the grooves of WHEN LEGENDS RISE, the band’s seventh studio album and their first album in four years.

Godsmack Unleash “Bulletproof” Music Video/Short Film

Godsmack Unleash “Bulletproof” Music Video/Short Film

GODSMACK have premiered the official music video for “Bulletproof,” the lead single from the multi-platinum band’s upcoming WHEN LEGENDS RISE album that’s due out April 27 via BMG. Directed by filmmaker Troy Smith, the satirical clip documents the band’s quest to make a new video. Click here to watch.

In the video, GODSMACK’s manager–played by actual manager, Paul Geary–suggests that it’s time for the band to expand their fan base by working with new (and clueless) video directors, including one played by Sebastian Bach and another by Billy Ray Cyrus.  After being pitched a host of awful ideas, Sully Erna decides to hire his cousin, Salvatore Pasquale from Sicily, Italy.  Everything hilariously goes wrong at the shoot, climaxing with the set catching fire and, ultimately, the destruction of the video files.

To coincide with the album’s release, the band will reign in release weekend with festival appearances at Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville, FL and Fort Rock in Sunrise, FL before heading to Monster Energy’s Carolina Rebellion May 5 in Concord, NC and Rock on the Range in Columbus, OH on May 20.  Next up, there’s a co-headlining outdoor amphitheater tour with SHINEDOWN hitting more than 30 cities.  Produced by Live Nation, the six-week run kicks off July 22 and makes stops in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, Atlanta, New York and many more before wrapping September 2. Godsmack and Shinedown Announce Co-Headlining Summer Tour

Godsmack and Shinedown Announce Co-Headlining Summer Tour

This summer, rock fans across the country should prepare to be rocked hard when the GODSMACK/SHINEDOWN co-headlining summer tour hits more than 30 cities. Produced by Live Nation, the six-week outdoor amphitheater tour kicks off July 22 and make stops in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, Atlanta, New York and many more before wrapping September 2. These dates come as both multi-platinum groups are set to release new albums: Godsmack‘s WHEN LEGENDS RISE (April 27 via BMG) and Shinedown’s ATTENTION ATTENTION (May 4 via Atlantic Records). Tickets are available to the general public starting Friday, March 23 at LiveNation.com.

Select dates of the summer tour will also be part of the popular Live Nation Ticket to Rock program. The Ticket to Rock bundle offers fans a low-cost way to see many of their favorite rock artists live in their area all summer long.

“We really believe this could be a great moment in our band’s career and we plan on running on the road until at least fall of 2019,” Sully Erna of Godsmack says. “We love the guys in Shinedown and we all go way back. There is a very strong mutual respect between our camps and we feel that this tour is going to be a must see!” Adds the singer, songwriter and guitarist: “We’re preparing ourselves to be on the top of our game!”

“It’s all about impact, and making a statement,” says Brent Smith, Shinedown‘slead singer. “We are creating a show for the fans that is powerful, passionate, and sonically inspiring. The audience has given us a platform to be ourselves, and create something spectacular. That being said SHINEDOWN, and GODSMACK will most certainly NOT let them down. This will be the Rock & Roll event of the year. In other words “IT’S ABOUT TO GET HEAVY!!!”

The tour will feature two support acts handpicked by Godsmack and Shinedown. Like A Storm will open the first half of the tour with Red Sun Rising performing on the second half. New Zealanders Like A Storm, led by brothers Chris, Matt & Kent Brooks, with Zach Wood on drums, have become the most successful New Zealand rock band in U.S. radio history. The band has just finished recording their new album Catacombs and a single is eminent. Akron, Ohio’s Red Sun Rising–Mike Protich [vocals/guitar], Ryan Williams [guitar], Dave McGarry [guitar/vocals], Ricky Miller [bass/vocals], and Pat Gerasia [drums]–broke onto the scene in 2012. Through tireless gigging, they built up an impressive local fan base.

WHEN LEGENDS RISE, Godsmack‘s first album in four years, is due out April 27via BMG and marks their debut on the label. The new album comes 20 years after the release of their debut album and 20 million album sales later, Godsmack are an even stronger animal than before. The album’s newly released single, “Bulletproof,” shows the band–Sully Erna [vocals, guitar], Tony Rombola [guitar], Robbie Merrill [bass], and Shannon Larkin [drums]–doubling down on their combination of tightly wound riffs, rhythmic fury, naked emotions and pushed-to-the-edge vocals, all fired up with melodic precision and tight songcraft. What inspired the songs on WHEN LEGENDS RISE? “It was just about evolving as a songwriter,” says singer and songwriter Sully Erna. “I wanted to stretch my wings out even further to use all the experiences I’ve had with writing different types of music over the years and applying that to find a way to introduce a newer, fresher, more mature sound, but still maintaining the power of Godsmack.” WHEN LEGENDS RISE is available for pre-order now (here) with instant grat track, “Bulletproof.” Listen to “Bulletproof” here. An official music video is coming soon. For more information on Godsmack, visit the band’s website here.

Multi-platinum rock band Shinedown recently announced the release of their sixth studio album ATTENTION ATTENTION out May 4th on Atlantic Records. Lead single “DEVIL” is out now along with the gripping and visceral video (HERE) which has quickly amassed more than 1 million YouTube views. ATTENTION ATTENTION is available for pre-order now at all DSPs HERE and each pre-order will include an instant download of “DEVIL.” Deluxe album bundles are available at the official Shinedown webstore HERE. The 14-track album, Shinedown‘s most raw and personal to date, is a mental, emotional and physical journey from ruin to reclamation to revelation. The story that unfolds as the album progresses follows an individual from life’s lowest lows to the highest highs as anxieties dissipate and demons disappear. It is a powerful and enduring statement about the resolve of the human spirit, our will to overcome struggles, and the importance of respecting and leaning on one another. With a symphony of thought-provoking lyrics, stadium-size, explosive guitars, unpredictable rhythms, and cinematic flourishes, ATTENTION ATTENTION ushers in the band’s biggest and boldest chapter yet. Godsmack To Return With New Album, ‘When Legends Rise,’ On April 27th

Godsmack To Return With New Album, ‘When Legends Rise,’ On April 27th

20 years since the release of their debut album and 20 million album sales later, GODSMACK are an even stronger animal than before. The proof is in the grooves of WHEN LEGENDS RISE, their first album in four years that’s due out April 27 via BMG and marking their debut on the label. The album is available for pre-order now (here) with instant grat track, “Bulletproof.”

Arriving to radio today, February 28, the first single is “Bulletproof,” which shows the band–Sully Erna [vocals, guitar], Tony Rombola [guitar], Robbie Merrill [bass], and Shannon Larkin [drums]–doubling down on their combination of tightly wound riffs, rhythmic fury, naked emotions and pushed-to-the-edge vocals, all fired up with melodic precision and tight songcraft. An official music video is coming soon.

What inspired the songs on WHEN LEGENDS RISE? “It was just about evolving as a songwriter,” says singer and songwriter Sully Erna. “I wanted to stretch my wings out even further to use all the experiences I’ve had with writing different types of music over the years and applying that to find a way to introduce a newer, fresher, more mature sound, but still maintaining the power of Godsmack.”

WHEN LEGENDS RISE, the band’s seventh studio album, was recorded at their headquarters (GSHQ) in Derry, New Hampshire and produced by Erik Ron and Sully Erna. Sonically intense and layered, it pushes the band forward and kicks off with the title track which begins with tribal-style drums and lethal riffs. “When Legends Rise” speaks to “the band and our journey,” says Erna.”It’s been an amazing road we have traveled through all the ups and downs. But being able to conquer those challenging times with alcohol and egos and everything else that can tear a band apart is what we are the most proud of.  To be able to stand strong again and do it better than we ever have. It’s about burning it down and building it back up. It’s the Phoenix rising from the ashes!”

Emotions run strong on “Bulletproof.” Says Erna: “I always write about things that have affected me on an emotional level. I think everyone knows that about me by now. But if I choose to do that, I have to be prepared to be honest and vulnerable. And so the challenge is figuring out how ‘exposed’ you want to be with personal information. But I’ve also learned over the years that for me, being transparent, even to the point of embarrassment sometimes, is so much better than holding it inside and extending that pain longer than you need to. ‘Bulletproof’ is just another moment in my life when I allowed myself to be vulnerable and got hurt. It’s this kind of carelessness from other people that eventually hardens you and forces you to put up that wall to protect yourself.  So when and if they circle back around and try to get back in, you make yourself bulletproof.”

Another album standout is the anthemic “Unforgettable” with its towering, massive sound and some special vocal guests. “It’s my favorite song on the record,” says Erna. “And thanks to an organization I work with called C.A.T.S. (Community Alliance for Teen Safety) that focuses on helping young kids stay on the right path, I invited a bunch of kids from the DERRY Middle Schools of New Hampshire to sing with me which I feel really brought this song over the top! They were incredible, and the song is Unforgettable!!”

WHEN LEGENDS RISE is also highlighted by the powerful string-laden ballad “Under Your Scars.“I come from a very broad background in music,” explains Erna.  “My great uncle was a famous composer in Sicily, and my dad is still a musician and runs an Italian band in the Boston area. So as I’ve grown over the years as an artist, I’ve regressed back to ALL TYPES of music and instruments I love working with and composing. So I called upon my dear friend Irina Chirkova to lay down the cello parts and Zvezdelina Haltakova (both from Bulgaria) did all the violin parts for me. And I really feel that this specific track will be something people will gravitate towards since it’s the first real ballad we’ve put on a Godsmack record. I think like it or not, they will gravitate towards it to explore it out of curiosity. But again, it’s about taking risks and expanding.”

WHEN LEGENDS RISE follows the success of 2014’s 1,000 HP, which entered the Top Billboard 200 chart at #3, with two #1 debuts (Billboard Top Alternative Albums: #1 Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums: #1).

One of rock’s most explosive live acts,GODSMACK will perform at seven U.S. festivals, between April 27 and July 14 (see the dates below), to be followed later this year by a major outdoor amphitheater tour (details TBA).

The WHEN LEGENDS RISE track listing is:

“When Legends Rise”
“Bulletproof”
“Unforgettable”
“Every Part Of Me”
“Take It To The Edge”
“Under Your Scars”
“Someday”
“Just One Time”
“Say My Name”
“Let It Out”
“Eye Of The Storm”

GODSMACK’s initial 2018 tour dates are as follows:

4/27 – Jacksonville, FL – Welcome to Rockville
4/28 – Sunrise, FL – Fort Rock Festival
5/5 – Concord, NC – Monster Energy’s Carolina Rebellion
5/18 – Columbus, OH – Rock on the Range
5/25 – Pryor, OK – Rocklahoma
7/12 – Oshkosh, WI – Rock USA
(7/12-14) – Cadott, WI – Chippewa Valley Rock Fest

About GODSMACK:
Godsmack stand strong as 21st century hard rock titans. With an unbreakable spirit and diehard work ethic evocative of their hometown, the Boston quartet fought hard to secure a place in music history since first smashing their way on to the scene in 1998. To date, they’ve notched a staggering six #1 singles at mainstream rock radio, including “Awake,” “Straight Out of Line,” “Cryin’ Like A Bitch,” and “I Stand Alone.” Moreover, they’ve enjoyed 20 Top 10 hits at the format-the most of any act since February 1999–as well as four Grammy nominations, and were winners of The Billboard Music Awards Rock Artist’s of the Year in 2001. Selling over 20 million records worldwide, the band has also unleashed three consecutive albums at #1 on the Billboard Top 200-namely Faceless [2003], IV [2006], and The Oracle[2010]. This places them in league with Van Halen, U2, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, and Linkin Park who have also enjoyed the same streak. Moreover, the accomplishment on the road remains staggering with headlining sets everywhere from Mayhem and UPROAR to Rock on the Range. Godsmack released the successful and acclaimed 1,000 HP in 2014, and their domination continues with the release of When Legends Rise, their seventh full-length album in 2014. They still stand alone.

Select-A-Head Announce New Discounted Pricing And New Designs

Select-A-Head Announce New Discounted Pricing And New Designs

Select-A-Head, LLC has announced a new reduced pricing for their popular 22” pieces of drum wall art. The new pricing comes just in time as the Seattle-based company has also established new partnerships with music and horror visionary Rob Zombie, acclaimed hard rock band Alter Bridge, metal juggernauts Mastodon and supergroup KXM. These partnerships will join the already impressive lineup of designs created for Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Godsmack and Queensrÿche to name a few. All designs are available at www.selectahead.com for the new low price of $115 + shipping. All Select-A-Head purchases come with a 100% satisfaction money-back guarantee.

On the heels of the company’s launch in winter 2014, Select-A-Head has been working tirelessly to refine the process these beautiful pieces of art are created. Now holders of the patent design, Select-A-Head, LLC looks to expand the line in various avenues. Aside from establishing numerous musical partnerships with more to be announced soon, they have already created designs for colleges such as Central Washington University, Gonzaga, Ohio State and others with new Universities being solicited all the time.

These unique displays were the creation of Seattle entrepreneur Steven Kenkman. He, alongside his brother, created the design that in some select instances come autographed by the artist when available. The process starts with a 22 inch 4 Ply drum shell wrapped in black PVC for durability; black die cast metal hoops; chrome lugs and claws with rubber gaskets to help prevent scratching and the images are printed on a high-quality matte finish. These designs have caught the attention of some of music’s biggest stars including Ray Luzier (Korn/KXM), Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Eddie Trunk and countless others.

Sully Erna Announces ‘Hometown Tour’ In Support of Upcoming Album

Sully Erna Announces ‘Hometown Tour’ In Support of Upcoming Album

sully-erna-2016-1

SULLY ERNA, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has announced he’ll launch the ‘Hometown Tour’ in celebration of the release of his new solo album HOMETOWN LIFE, due out Friday, September 30 via BMG. Only this time, ERNA plans on stripping it down for an intimate acoustic evening with guitar-player and band member Tim Theriault. The ‘Hometown Tour’ will launch October 26 in Atlanta, GA (see itinerary below). Tickets and limited amount of VIP experiences will go on sale starting Friday, September 9 (here).

Composed by SULLY on piano and acoustic guitar and produced in his New England-based studio, the 10 songs on HOMETOWN LIFE are a powerful mix of blues, country and adult contemporary, all layered with orchestral overtones offering another stylistic left-hand turn fromhis first solo album Avalon as well as the music he creates as front man for the multi-platinum rock band Godsmack. Case in point, thepowerful and emotionalfirst single “Different Kind Of Tears” written with songwriter/producer Zac Maloy (Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood). Listen to and share the new song “Different Kind of Tears” (here).

A personal, confessional, raw work, HOMETOWN LIFEoffers a wide-ranging glimpse of SULLY’s eclectic musical tastes–from singer-songwriter Billy Joel/Bruce Springsteen, to the bossa nova touch of “Take All of Me,” to the breezy island feel of “Your Own Drum,” the finger-snapping Motown bass lines of the bluesy “Turn It Up,” the country flavors of “Different Kind of Tears” and the wide-screen canvas of mini-symphonies such as “Blue Skies” and “Forever My Infinity.” All of them are tied together with SULLY’s unflinching view of the emotional roller-coaster of his life, drawing us into a very intimate space.

HOMETOWN LIFE explores ERNA’s diverse musical touchstones from James Bay, to new country favorite Chris Stapleton to soul legends Ray Charles, Etta James and Amy Winehouse, all mixed together with the lyrical vulnerability of artists like Adele.

Sully Erna To Release New Solo Album ‘Hometown Life’ On September 30th

Sully Erna To Release New Solo Album ‘Hometown Life’ On September 30th

sully-erna-2016-1

SULLY ERNA–founder, vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for the multi-platinum rock band Godsmack–will release a new solo album HOMETOWN LIFE Friday, September 30 via BMG. Composed by SULLY on piano and acoustic guitar and produced in his New Hampshire studio, HOMETOWN LIFE offers a departure from the tribal, world music feel and experimentation on 2010’s Avalon; the new album’s 10 songs are more accessible, sonically and musically precise.

Listen to the new song and title track “Hometown Life” exclusively on FUSE now (here) and watch behind-the-scenes footage of the making of SULLY’s new album, today (here).

“When I do a solo album, I write for myself,” says SULLY. “It’s not for critics, radio or even fans. I like to explore different kinds of music that work together. A good song is a good song. I stopped categorizing a long time ago.”

A personal, confessional, raw work which takes yet another stylistic left-hand turn from the music he has created as front man for the multi-platinum rock band Godsmack, HOMETOWN LIFE offers a wide-ranging glimpse of Erna’s eclectic musical tastes–from the singer-songwriter Billy Joel/Bruce Springsteen narratives of the title track and the bossa nova touch of “Take All of Me,” to the breezy island feel of “Your Own Drum,” the finger-snapping Motown bass lines of the bluesy “Turn It Up,” the country flavors of “Different Kind of Tears” and the wide-screen canvas of mini-symphonies “Blue Skies” and “Forever My Infinity.” All of them are tied together with Sully’s unflinching view of the emotional roller-coaster of his life, drawing us into an intimate space. HOMETOWN LIFE explores Sully’s diverse musical touchstones from James Bay, new country favorites like Chris Stapleton and Brantley Gilbert to soul legends Ray Charles, Etta James and Amy Winehouse.

For HOMETOWN LIFE, SULLY worked with thesame musicians from Avalon with the exception of percussionist Niall Gregory. On two of the songs–“Different Kind of Tears” and “Your Own Drum”–SULLY collaborated with Nashville-based tunesmith Zac Malloy, who has also written for Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Jake Owen, Skillet and Daughtry. “It was cool to see the same exact players sound completely different on this album,” SULLY says. “It just goes to show their musicianship and versatility. They can really pull off anything I ask of them.”

With SULLY on piano, acoustic guitar and the stray bongo, HOMETOWN LIFE was also a family affair, with his 71-year-old father Salvatore–who helped nurture his son’s own musical interest early on–playing trumpet on “Turn It Up.” It’s a song Erna describes as a tribute to the power of music, a blueprint for how a song “makes you get off your seat, tap your feet, feel the energy and let it pass through you.”

“It was a proud moment,” says SULLY, who also channeled his great-uncle, a famed composer from Sicily, in several of the songs which feature symphonic strings, like “Blue Skies,” “Forever My Infinity,” “Father of Time” and “Falling to Black.”

HOMETOWN LIFE allows an inside glimpse at Sully’s vulnerability on a personal level, and he attributes much of his honesty and inspiration for this album to the love of his life, Sarah. “We’ve definitely gone through some complicated times and fought for what we have. And I’m really grateful to have her in my life. We have a very special and unique kind of relationship that most people can only dream of having. And I wouldn’t put that second to anything! These songs are about exposing my inner thoughts, laying myself bare, being honest and expressing genuine emotions… about dark times and positive ones.” Some songs offer fatherly advice, like the percussion-heavy “Your Own Drum,” an admonition to his teenage daughter to follow her own muse and not be afraid to be different, or trying to deal with life’s hurried pace, as in the rhythmic tick-tock of “Father of Time.” On the soaring “Blue Skies,” SULLY reaches out to his loved ones and asks them to acknowledge the man and father he has become from the immature boy he once was.

As for how his solo career fits in with his “other band,” Sully is circumspect. “Godsmack is a very energetic, aggressive, powerhouse rock band. It’s for those moments when you want to scream and stomp your feet. My solo stuff is a lot more vulnerable, the grown-up version of who I am and how I process. It’s about finding acceptance for the things that don’t go right in your life, being appreciative for all the memories, good or bad. Sometimes these experiences can be very painful, but I do get some beautiful songs out of it. I’m just happy to be blessed with a gift that enables me to channel this stuff and vent it through my music.”

HOMETOWN LIFE does just that, revealing sides of SULLY ERNA only hinted at in Godsmack, “That’s the whole point,” he explains. “The people who have followed me and can appreciate it, I encourage them to explore. All my albums–including the ones with Godsmack–are like musical journals, diaries of what I’ve gone through in my life at the time. I’d love to reach a whole new audience with this. Music has helped me get through some tough times. That’s when I write, when something affects me emotionally, happy or sad.”

“For all those things we’ve ever done/Give us our chance to prove our love,” sings SULLY on the album’s closing track “Falling to Black.” He describes it as “a beautifully sad song,” which offers a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. The same could be said of HOMETOWN LIFE. As SULLY himself puts it in “Your Own Drum”: “There’s no shadows/If you don’t have light.”

Track listing for HOMETOWN LIFE:

1 “Hometown Life”
2 “Your Own Drum”
3 “Different Kind Of Tears”
4 “Take All Of Me”
5 “Don’t Comfort Me”
6 “Turn It Up!”
7 “Blue Skies”
