Double Elvis Productions Releases Initial Episodes of ‘Dear Young Rocker’ Podcast

Double Elvis Productions in partnership with iHeartRadio released the first two episodes of the podcast “Dear Young Rocker,” a first-person, coming of age story about the struggles of young adulthood and the power of music hosted by Chelsea Ursin and executive produced by “Disgraceland” Host, Jake Brennan. “Dear Young Rocker” will be distributed through the iHeartPodcast Network beginning today and can be heard now on iHeartRadio and everywhere else podcasts are available. New episodes will air every Wednesday. Listen now at this location >

In this scripted, narrative podcast, listeners will both laugh and empathize as the protagonist Chelsea struggles to feel cool enough to exist. The show creates an honest dialogue around the issues of body image, gender power dynamics and mental health, and shines a spotlight on the way these issues are severely magnified during our formative years.

“I created ‘Dear Young Rocker’ to reconnect with the young, emotional parts of ourselves and the singularly intense feeling of falling in love with your favorite band for the first time. I think teenage feelings actually mean something, and as much as I wish I could say to the younger me, I know our present selves can learn something from the kid in us too,” explains Ursin, who initially launched the show independently before teaming with Double Elvis Productions. “I want my story to help anyone who’s ever struggled with self-doubt and isolation and found power, freedom and connection in music.”

“This is what I needed to hear when I was 14, but it didn’t exist,” said Brennan. “Chelsea’s story is raw, heartfelt and entertaining, and to me is what punk rock is in 2020. It’s not contrived, studded leather, safe choreographed stage diving, it’s what it always was – a subversive questioning of societal norms and the relentless will to be your true self.”

Cosmopolitan named “Dear Young Rocker” one of “12 Podcasts Coming in 2020 That You Won’t Be Able to Stop Bingeing” and said, “Musician and writer Chelsea Ursin created and narrates this podcast memoir about being an insecure, anxious teenager who finds herself through music. It sounds very My So-Called Life but if Angela had a cool talent.” The podcast has also received early excitement from Billboard, The Guardian, and Variety.
